Mugwump Mondaily

Argh, it's the begining of another week.

And someone has a case of the Mondays. :yuck:

Plus I can't spell atm, I need caffeine or sleep.

RL: Meh, Been beating my head against a wall on my project. Seriously underestimated the amount of heartburn this puppy was going to cause. But I'll either persavere (sp?) or get dumped on it.

D2: RL > D2 atm. :hang:

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

RL: 8 in the morning here, haven't gone to sleep yet.
being out of work, and playing a insanely great computer game all night, makes you do things like that.

D2: nah

OVG: Fallout 3!! :)

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

RL: Back from, work. Just chilling now. Checkin out some sites, reading some manga, and probably will play some d2 and then go to bed

D2: Well i planed to do some LK runs yesterday but didn't. Don't know why . Instead farmed pindle a bit. I guess will continue it today too.:coffee:

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

persavere (sp?)

I'll bite. Persevere.

My house is now wirelessly networked. Again. And when my XBox got internet, it took a long time to do the updates. But its done now. It was the easiest router I have ever put in. But it's Apple, so thats probably why.

RL: Work. I might sleep some, I might not.

D2: Possibly, but..

OVG: My brother and I are doing some Halo3, so I might do that instead.

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

Sad news about Ulla.

@svid: I saw Avatar in 3D (not iMax, though) on Christmas. It was the first new-age 3D movie I'd seen. The 3D part was way better than the movie itself. It's too bad that we showed up so late that we had to sit in the third row. We were WAY too close for 3D.

RL: Decent weekend with the GF. Her younger daughter was supposed to see her father on Sunday, but things didn't work out so we never had a moment of alone time. Still, I can't complain; the GF is great and the daughter is funny and supre cute 92% of the time.

Back to work today. Set my alarm wrong. Gotta get moving ASAP.

D2: Not yet...

OVG: Borderlands / PSO:BB. Whichever tickles my fancy after work.

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

Sad news about Ulla indeed. What a bummer.

RL: woke up, realized I had skipped out on the new job hunting strategy but was able to catch myself up; made coffee; foruming and drinking coffee.

Upcoming: grocery (beer? I need to check) run; work on personal projects; hulu; maybe some house/car cleaning, but maybe not; and. . .

D2: I will definitely play today in Ulla's honor. For sure.

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

RL: Just read the info about UllaV. I enjoyed seeing her in the bar, even though I didn't sit down for a drink too often, and she'll be missed for sure. Sad days.

Today begins my school+work journey. 7:30am to 8:30pm nonstop 3 out of 5 days. Bring it.

D2: I'll probably play an hour or two when I get back from my evening class while watching TV. I'll need something to unwind for sure.

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

RL: Not much going on today.

D2: Might work on my tournament idea a bit. I'm hoping some more interest sparks in it :D
Also going to start Hell with my pure Fire sorc. Level 40 Fireball and Meteor is fun so far :P.

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

Rl : Had one of my wisdom teeth removed. Still dont feel my lips, or my jaw. Hope it stays that way ^^ But i doubt it.

D2 : Maybe later.

OVG : Maybe later.

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

Mugwump? Funny word. What does it mean?

RL: Moving to the USA very soon. Just a couple more days and I`m off. Somehow I`m finished with all the hard work, so there might be some time to play during the MF-league.

D2: Preparing my light sorc for the MF-league. Want to hit lvl. 95 before it starts, but it probably won`t happen.

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

Last day of the weekend... ugh.

RL: Making pancakes, doing singing. Probably working on a recording if I get the time.

D2: Probably not.

OVG: Wat

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

RL: I need to read Oliver Twist for my English assignment. Urggggggh. Oh well, school tomorrow is nice.

D2: Haven't played in a while. I'm expecting to get a relapse soon. I'm keeping an eye on y'all, however!

Re: Mugwump Mondaily

RL: Picked up a copy of Dawkin's The Selfish Gene. I've been meaning to read it.

D2: Bleh. Waiting for the fire to kick up again.

OVG: Slowly getting addicted to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Creepy monsters are creepy.

I just read 'The God Delusion' recently. It had some interesting stuff in there, and some of the stuff is mind-boggling. I've been an atheist as long as I can remember, and was well-aware there was some whacked-out stuff in the Bible, but I did not know Jesus apparently only would accept disciples who hated themselves, their parents, their wives (it doesn't say husbands), and their siblings. Of course, the fundie response to this is that it is taken out of context, and 'hate' means 'hate by comparison, because you love Jesus so much more than anyone/anything else'. Yeeaah, okay. Seems to me that a divinely-authored work would be a little less ambiguous, no? The Skeptic's Annotated Bible has plenty of other such gems. I found the site while googling to see if this was indeed in the Bible, since I don't own one.

Another point that Dawkins makes is that religion gets preferential treatment. Some of the things that are in the Bible and other 'holy works' would be considered hate speech or incitement to violence if they were not shielded by 'religious freedom'. If someone thinks that religious doctrine can't be used to incite violence, just take a look at Fred Phelps and his 'church' (whose sole mission is to campaign against homosexuals, and cheer on *** bashings, the more violent, the better) and Islam's rules on apostasy (you deserve death if you renounce Islam). Religious freedom is the freedom to choose your religion, if any, rather than having one forced upon you. It is not the freedom to violate the laws of the land in the name of your religion, nor freedom from the criticisms of others, but so many people get this wrong.

On a lighter note, in mockery of Phelps and his hatemongering (not going to post links to any of the innumerable Phelps sites; they're hate speech and highly against forum rules, but you can google them if you're interested) is the site God Hates Shrimp. It uses obscure Biblical prohibitions against shellfish (because they don't have scales like regular fish) to lampoon parallel attitudes that a Phelps fundie holds towards other groups.

Anyways, sorry about the rant. Back on topic:

RL: Nothing much. Probably going to go watch some Heroes back episodes in a bit.

D2: Not for about a week or so now, mainly because I picked up Torchlight about then. The graphics are pretty nice, albeit a tad cartoony, and the machanics are rather lackluster. Still, for $20-ish, it's hard to go wrong, and it is an enjoyable, mindless romp. The only thing that annoys me is the fact it runs pretty poorly on my netbook, considering that a major factor in my getting the game was this:

The requirements are so low, we are even able to play Torchlight on the netbooks around the office!
Ahh well, as pointed out, it's cheap. :)

D1: Maybe. Trying to decide if I should enter the Fresh Meat tourney. I'm torn between a monk and a sorcerer.
