Most embarrassing death?

My most recent dumb death...

I just started hardcore recently, was working on a Fishymancer. All my gear was junk (1 Ptopaz, two Flawless topaz chest ftw) appart from a AoKL a nice chap gave to me.

I was doing some MF runs on the usual suspects in NM...when I went for Pindleskin, my army dealt with the mobs around, and himself with ease, only to find a rare polearm. Now I thought this could be the Polearm I needed for my merc, but my inventory was full. So half my screen was covered, and suddenly something interesting happens on TV...I look away for like 5 seconds, turn back and I see deeds :( Closer investigation showed about 3 of the zombies had ress'd and killed me when I wasnt watching, dont ask what my army was doing during this :/
 
My second curses-only necro (was acompanied by a fire rogue) died from two quick shots of Mephisto´s Lightning. He had about 750 life, and the lightning resist wasn´t that bad, about 40. I guess Meph got really lucky...
 
I actually had a softcore Barb character recently who was in NM and was so low in health that a chest trap killed him. He'd been poisoned but had cleared the area and opened a chest and was moving on. The poison took the bulb lower and the chest shot out one of those lame firebolts -and my Barb collapsed.

Boy was I surprised.
 
Mine would probably be when I was just beginning to rush my friend in NM. I tele to andy, everything goes as planned, her dang poison got me to 1hp and I tele to the tp I had in the corner of the room, and than i accedently teleport on the fire next to all those piles of gold than it appears ElectricOrb was slain by Fire tehehe ^_^
 
lvl 78 hardcore magezon, deeds from a single scarab that came from behind in A2 maggot lair which picked up the might aura from the Worm Queen. 2 hit death. funny thing is i knew the scarab was hitting me so i turned around and got off a few arrows. instead of freezing it with FA i was using immolation arrow. all i had to do was switch skills and i wouldnt of gotten deeds.

Even if I'm already in danger, I open them >.<

Last time I remember, I totally screwed a "Hell Anya" game cause of that. People had already a hard time with the burning souls (I think the strongest char was a Javazon without anti-immunities equipment). I was just running everywhere to dodge the lightning when I saw that little urn , near us, forgot by everyone... Of course it spawned a special Burning soul with minions...

Was funny to see the list of " was slain by " including myself...
Followed by the whisper of my friend saying: " you really cant resist don't you???"

( Also, try confuse on a big bunch of hell scarabs... if you got negative lightning resists it's even better... )

I remember seeing a screenie where the player had died from kicking a barrel in multiplayer.

"Player xxx killed by barrel" was the broadcast message.
 
Hmm... Hardcore Spearazon I think... Bishibosh... NORMAL. It was several years ago. I thought I had found a sash, so I figured I had it filled with health potions. But there was no health potion when I needed it, so I got toasted on shaman fire. Sweet, huh? Well, at least I had not spend too much time developing her :P
 
Might as well chime in with a couple of mine:

1) My barb killed Hell Pindle and had around 1/4 life left. Was standing over his body with the skill tab open looking for the Find Item skill. Had forgotten that Pindle was FE so when Pindle tried to reanimate I got killed by the invisible FE explosion. Luckily that was SC

2) Playing a shifter druid act 1 hell I switched to bear form and charged into an encampment of Might enchanted fallen. Hit the right mouse button to shockwave & stun them all and to my horror saw Stumpy shift back into human form. Needless to say he was swarmed and got stuck in hit recovery. Even though I burned through 2 rows of full juvey potions I still got the inevitable deeds. *Must remember to double check what skill is loaded up on the RMB before charging into packs...

Actually, just remembered a third one:

Had a baby HC character (only level 6 or something) running around the den of evil and had just come across the zombie boss pack. Game suddenly minimised and the stupid HP message box popped up telling me I had just installed a new ink cartridge and suggesting I do the Alignment page. Frantically hit cancel and then alt-tab to get back into the game. Unfortunately that didn't work and I had to manually click the game tab on the taskbar. By the time I got back in I was greeted by the deeds screen.
I've never purchased a HP printer since (I'm not bitter!)

Dumbest had to be the standard wrong-key move. Zon calmly standing behind her valk-tank, throwing Decoy at approaching enemies in the distance...
Except she didn't throw Decoy, she threw valk again
And then she died to the crowd that suddenly had free access

D'oh! :embarassed:
That'll teach her to go on home and resurrect the merc.



 
Some CE, Conviction aura boss when doing MF runs with my skellimancer. I Teleported atop the boss to focus my army on him, and they killed him before I could run out of range.

Man, it's a pain dying with a skellimancer. You lose your merc and army, have to resurrect your merc and rebuild an army for body recovery, then rebuild your army again (so it's at full strength from your +skills gear). Makes me glad I don't play hardcore. ;)
 
Has to be most of the deaths I've had over the past few days: it's all going swimmingly, then a stray shot procs Occulus and I'm in the middle of half the enemies on the level having my face eaten.

Ages ago, back when version 1.09 just came out, (I had also just gotten the game like 4 days before the patch) I thought I'd go ahead and give HC a go.

I thought I'd make a hearty Bear druid (I'd heard they were quite sturdy.) Created a public HC game...forgot what I named it, but I intended to do things by myself (as always, it's a wonder I play SP now lol)

Anyways, I killed EVERY monster from the blood moor all the way into Andariel's lair. Just as I'm opening the first door in Cat lv 4 I get hostiled...no biggie I thought, they'll never find me.

About 5 minutes later there's a level 9 sorc barreling down on me...well I'm like level 15 so I'm like "wuss" and bum rush him. 1 hit kill with frost nova. lol I was in that game for like 6 hours...man I was pissed.

lol...that was my first HC death, and the one and only time I've ever been PK'd.

Close shave from last night. I've got three HC chars in act 1/2 normal but I wanted to try the Corrupted Televalngelist build as an alternative to the Fishy I'm building.

So I'm wandering around killing stuff in the Den of Evil. Seem to be doing OK until I found Corpsefire, so I run away and consider my strategy. Anyway, while I'm doing that and watching Atlantis (I multi-task), I get pounced on by one of the cats. There's no monsters near me and being stupid I neither pause nor TP back to town.

Start playing with the cats during the ad-break and completely forget about the game. Look back over to see my health on 1/5th and dropping fast as Corpsie had decided to walk over to me with a few of his friends.

I shriek, and manage to get out of hit recovery and get back to town. Thanks be to gumby. Never under estimate player stupidity or memory loss. Corevive killed by cat .... not a good ring :rolleyes:

I doubt there's any reason for shame. Honestly, I can't see how Frost Nova could one-hit kill you unless a) you were already low on life, and/or b) the guy was cheating. Given the nature of b.net, it's not hard to assume the latter. Remember, the guy could have had, at most, a level 7 FN (4 hard points and +3 from a staff/orb). There was no +cold skill damage gear in this patch, and the guy was way too low-level for masteries and non-staff/non-orb skills gear.
 
my most stupid death came not more then a week ago. i was going trough nm act 4 with my javal zon and i get IM and i laugh at their weak IM " ha i am a ranged fighter your IM means nothing to me" then i ran out of mana from lighting fury and then i used jab while IM'ed to mana leach. worked great before i knew it i was at the potion shop getting ready for the long walk back.
