I had thought that monsters drop loot according to (a) monster level == area level ( + more if unique monster ) and (b) weapon quality level
So for example Hell Den of Evil is area level 79 and I may be able to get up to a Cryptic Axe but will not be able to get a Great Poleaxe, from any mobs in there.
The fact that we chase after Unique bosses is because they drop more loot than ordinary mobs, but not necessarily better.
Or do mobs most/all have hardcoded loot tables?
