Mods for Char Testing

Is anyone able to link me to a program I can use to test builds in Single Player.

I mean like give them levels, skillpoints, stats and equipment and try them out in game (SP) to see if the build works so i dont spend hours and hours making a char only to find that it only really works in Hell with godly gear.

If this is not allowed then i apologise.

SPF is allergic to any cheat or hack, you'll get some attack from flame thrower
you can ask for advice and follow the guides for optimal result of char build.

Just for the record, pretty much anything can "work" with godly gear. A cleric fighting with gimmershreds, 1-point zeal and 1-point fanaticism can take hell with godly gear. ;) Just what were you thinking of making?

Sorry about that.
it's okay mate, now tell us your build plan, we'd happy to help
Few build i know that can survive hell without godly gear are:
skellemancer
Meteorb sorc
wind druid
frostzealot
trapsin

Wow. Nobody reported this thread? What gives, guys?

And to reinforce what others have said, such programs are not accepted by the owners of this site, and therefore, we cannot link to them or tell you about them.

I'm very very sorry, please don't ban me.

The reason I asked was because often i make a build (generally after having a good read of the guides) that works fine in Normal and NM but I find that without expensive gear (which also tends to get mentioned in the guides) it falls to bits in hell (windies getting owned by phys immunes, summon necros taking several minutes to kill bloodraved and several others) - my intent was more to make a char at level 75, give him gear i would normally expect to find in the time it takes me to get to level 75 and then see if it can kill reasonably in hell.

Again apologies for the thread topic, I have seen people mentioning such programs in various posts and thought they were semi-allowed, however lesson learned and it will not happen again.

Don't worry you wont get banned for asking.

As others have said, let us know what builds you have in mind and what gear you have. We should be able to let you know how it will fair.

Best of luck.

windy zons handle PI with CTC amp or CTC decryp high elementar damage gear on switch also works.

give us a clue of what you plan and the members here can most certainly help you out with helpful advice(most have build +30 chars before they found out what works)

ohh and if you make +30 variants of any char you will find out what works and what does not(even then what works and what does not is depending on the player)

Honestly, even a level 99 with super gear is gonna die if you didn't play him up. When you do it yourself, you learn how each skill works. You learn how to deal with immunes. You learn how to survive.

That's why we're against character editors, because they don't teach you anything except how to use a character editor.

Now, if you have questions about a specific build, we are really good at answering. The SPF harbors many of the best D2 players in the world.

I think he means wind druids, not strafers. ;) Hurricane is cold-based, but probably doesn't do enough damage to tear p8 physical immunes apart. But still, Reaper's Toll on the mercenary can usually break the immunity, that added with hurricane can hardly constitute as a wind druid being "owned."

And for the summon necro... Once the skellies (with might mercenary) surrounds blood raven, and decrepify/amplify damage is on her, she should go down in mere seconds.

I do agree with the build it yourself and find how it works and generally i make a few builds to level 60 or so finding out how i really want to play a char and how to properly sort out skills and stats.

OK, the first build i made that i found effective and able to easily do Normal and NM was a windy - standard 1 pt Ice Blast and 20 in the main wind spells. He rocked in normal and NM but as soon as i got to Hell he sucked.

He could kill ok but whenever he came across a phys immune or particulary phys immune/cold immune he was stuffed. A group of ghosts would wipe him out. And the merc would not realise they were phys immune and would run into the center and get killed.

I asked about and the most help i got was reapers toll - which i found a bit difficult to find, but given that the merc would have to take abuse while he tried to the the 10% (i think) chance of decrepify it did not look like that great a plan. Basically i had hit a dead end.

The windy was one of the most enjoyable chars I have built and I would love to make another but don't want to get stuck at the start of hell again.

If you could tell me a practical way to get past phys immunes (which seem to be every ghost and several random uniques) I would be eternally grateful as I would love to play him again. And esp phys/cold immunes.

My current chars are:
Summon Druid - Just entering hell and not doing too badly, but so far no phys immunes. Might have stuffed him by going Vine rather than some cold spells but have to see. Worried he will end the same way as windy.
Summon Necro - Act 2 Hell - I gotta say no complaints here - with curses there is nothing immune to him, but can be a little slow sometimes. Need more +skills.
Building a MetOrb - looks promising as there is nothing that the Metorb cannot kill that her merc wont kill instead. Just starting out though.

EDIT: Sorry about going off-topic on a banned topic on a thread that was moved here from another forum...

It's actually a 33% chance to cast, and with the frequency of the a2 merc's attack that's basically automatic. That should help you out right there.

I don't see too much wrong with your Wind Druids build.

Did you place any points in the summoning tree? Oak sage and a point in Summon Grizzly helps tons with tanking monsters.

Also, what kind of gear were you using, as well as your merc? Maybe your equipment slots could be better filled out.
