MFing hell Ba'al

Stormlash- meph can drop 1/40,000 chance though
Tal's Armor -meph can't drop
Arkaine's Valor-meph can't drop
Leviathan-meph can't drop
Seraph's Hymn meph can drop
Mara's Kaleidoscope meph can drop
Trang's Belt meph can't drop
Trang's Helm meph can't drop

just so you know, he can't drop anything higher than TC78.
Meph can drop Arkaine's.
EDIT:
Also, Baal is one of the worst sources of TC87 items. When people do Baal runs most of the items usually are from WSK, not from Baal him self.

I think you were really lucky to get a Tc87 off from Baal so easily. I think I have got 4 TC87's from him ever, and I have lvl 94,95 and 96 fishymancers, 92 meteorb, 93 hammerdin...If you are after Tc87's run something else instead, or at least clear WSK on all your runs

I love running baal. O.o He is nice to me.
But i wouldn't do it with a sorc. Try doing it with a bone/summon necro or hamerdin or something else. Sorcs are for meph and pindle ;)

My sorc is my only MF char. My necro is only 71 and hasn't started hell yet, and he's got some MF but not nearly as much as the sorc. And if I ever find the rest of Trang's stuff he'll have even less.

Meph can drop Mara's and probably seraph's, dunno where you got that from Fodder...
I said that meph could drop those jewels, and i thought that balrog skin was TC81, sorry about that.

edit
lol i meant amulets, lots of typos for me today

IIRC Baal doesn't drop TC 84 or TC 87 very often due to how they treasure classes are chosen. I've run Baal quite a bit, and I can only think of three TC 87's I've gotten from him directly: Death's Fathom (20%...meh), Executioner's Justice (double meh), and IKSC (triple meh). IMO he's good for TC 78's and TC 81's; Meph is better for anything lower and Pindle is good for anything higher. Of course there's only one TC 78/81 item worth the effort: Stormlash. Then again, I'm 1 for 1 with unique scourges from Baal and 0 for 6 with pindle, so I suppose I should run Baal more often and stock up on lashes. :uhhuh:

Well Pindy has bored me to tears. I almost never get anything good from him, and I find pindle running the most monotonous thing on earth. But I figured I could take him out quick each Baal run...too bad it seems Baal isn't going to be worth running either. I wish there were more 85 areas, the pit is boring too now. Maybe I'll try ancient tunnels and see how it is.

River of Flame, Chaos Sanctuary and/or WSK are lvl 85 and not that boring. The map is not that important as well as all three start with a WP within the lvl 85 area (you can keep a nice memph map and still run one of these for a change). And they all offer a little extra:

- RoF: Hephasto (monster with highest chance for Zod, don't get your hopes up to high though)
- Chaos Sanctuary: Diablo
- WSK: Baal

Pity Big D is so bloody hard to kill, though ;)

Simple, to the point, is this really worth it?

He can drop any item in the game, right? Good. Now, what items that I'm seeking can he drop that Mephy can't?

Stormlash
Tal's Armor
Arkaine's Valor
Leviathan
Seraph's Hymn
Mara's Kaleidoscope
Trang's Belt
Trang's Helm

.

I got my very first Leviathan from a Flayer boss in Hell so why couldn't Meph drop it as well?

I don't think he's exceptionally hard to kill, just hard to get to with Doom Knights launching Mana burn everywhere.

Yeah. It's not Diablo that stops me from running Diablo. It's Oblivion Knights for some characters and constant homing mana burners for others that stop me from running Diablo. Going to give the River of flame a try though.

Because that flayer boss must have been from the flayer jungle, a Alvl 85 area, and so can drop anything. IMO all act bosses in hell should be able to drop anything, but i unfortunately dont work for blizzard.

I agree FB Act Bosses should be able to drop anything. And it did slip my mind about the lvl of the Flayer Jungle. Oh well. Thanks for the reminder.

Indeed, the Chaos Sanctuary horde is a bite in the ass. Mana Burn, Iron Maiden, Amp Damage, it can be quite a mess, especially when it's all at the same time. Although every now and then I take that trip just to carve my initials in ol' Diablo. ( I just can't help myself).
Good luck with the River, I've never gotten anything of particular interest, I have somewhat better luck in the Pit.

I find RoF is good if you have good AoE/mass kill skills (orb, blizz, traps, LF etc). Killing stuiff 1 or 2 at a time becomes a pain there, with eggs hatching and those annoying hag things that churn out babies every 5 seconds.

I'm with you FB, I think act bosses should be able to drop anything in the game as well, with higher chances as you move up through the acts for the top stuff. But like you say, we don't work for Blizzard. Obviously, since we're actual gamers (zing!)

If act bosses could drop everything...not a good idea actually. Then there wouldn't be a reason to run anything else than Meph. I like variety 1.10 added to this game, there is lots of different and effective MF areas

Oh and Flayer Jungle is snot an lvl 85 area, its lvl 81 IIRC :p

Well, my problem with this theory, is that as it is there's little reason to run anything but the Pits or Pindleskin anyway, unless you want a higher quality of mid to mid-high quality items in which case you do lots of Meph. If all act bosses could drop everything, of course, each boss would have slightly better than the one before it, so Ba'al wouldn't be so damn useless to run without clearing WSK, and Meph would be the best source for consistent items due to speed (which he pretty much is anyway.) Also, I'm not saying that the act bosses should have a higher drop rate than the 85 areas, but it would be nice knowing I had at least a small chance to get anything. If we had say RTB crunch the numbers and balance the drop rates of the bosses I'd have no fear with the results ;)

Unfortunately, Blizzard doesn't crunch numbers as well as RTB. :D

I don't think either that making mephisto being able to drop anything would be a goo idea for the same reasons as lprman.
Baal gives you exp and ilvl99 small charms. That's why he's worth killing. Fortunately not all is about mf in this game.
But still I'm reluctant to run him if I'm not in a MP game since it's so hard. I think that a team with a Blizzsorc and a LFzon could be efficient even at mfing on WSK+Baal.
As for areas worth running for mfing purpose, I would say those are only the lvl85 areas (haven' tried them all so I can't say only the pit and ancient tunnels are good). Even Pindle has disappointed me. You don't drop noticeably more on Pindle than in pitruns (I'd say the time spent running over time spent is the thing that could make Pindle loose the contest) and you can't drop azurewrath or Tyrael's might.
About that flayer boss. The bosses in durance of hate can drop TC 87 only meph can't.
