MF Secrets?

Im trying to trade for an eth arreats, right. So i decided i would do an Andy MF run with my friends blizz sorc to kill some time before people arrive... And i begin to take my time, and killed some monsters in Cata 3. Some crap rares and magics dropped, so i tele'd myself down to Cata 4, killed everything before i got to andy. I put my 408% mf onn and start blizzard'ing at Andy, she dies. For a sec i was on my toes, because i wanted something nice to drop for once. And BAM, nothing. Nothing came out of that stupid demon [highlight]*deleted*[/highlight]. I was like !?!?!!?.

Well after that i wanted to make my MF runs more effective, and i heard somewhere on the forums that if you switch your weapons in the presence of the BOSS, the MF cuts in half. I did'nt want to challenge the myth and i was lazy to write a thread. So is this true? And if it is, are there any other MF secrets out there i should be aware of?

simple explanation here....you killed her next to one of the pillars and there was no room for her loot to spill out on the floor....it happens sometimes

Andariel is not a generous person. No drop are not unusual with her. She is mostly used for SoJ runs (be ready to do thousands of them). For good MF, you better stick with the usual, Pits/Mephisto/Pindleskin/Baal.

To expand on that, remember to do NM andy for SOJ (I found one!! (ok ok, took me about 150 runs and after finding 15 manalds you feel quite ready to give up))
 
happened to me with baal many times, he drops dead near the deep gashes and nothing drops. You also SERIOUSLY see this issue when you are in archane sanctuary and you kill ghosts when they are flying to you from space.

No wonder i don't get anything in the arcane sanctuary...oh well
 
Kinda related, if you kill the Storm Casters in Act 4 over the lava, they won't drop anything. It's always fun when the Grand Vizier of Chaos flies away and you only have a melee character with no way to get to Diablo.
 
I do the worldstone lvls well the 1 I can do if it ain't too hard( so far I found tals ammy , nats claw , tal armor and other stuff ) and meph and pindle. Also try to mf with a good friend u can trust cuz the more people u have to more drops u get. Act 2 merc with medi helps me out alot against immune to cold and increase my mana gain. I think cows u get stuff off of . I did some myself but neva found anything good besides a skill charm. U should also collect flawless and prefect gems so u can reroll charms and maybe get a skill charm or w/e
 
What's this about the Summoner? I'd like to verify that...

I'll share all the "secrets", or rather myths that i've made up based on the good drops i've gotten...

Only time i found tals armor was when i was MFing with my sorc who was wearing skullders. Seems that the game drops class specific set stuff based on the char you have and the items you're using, cuz now that i use tals armor i haven't found another... this might be hoakey but ya never know.

Same with tals ammy. i was using eye of etlich, and whoop, a tal ammy drops, early in the development of my MF char...

Also, it seems you get better drops if you name the game with real words. In other words, you'll get better drops in a game named "Guts and Glory" than in a game named "f92h348alkhv"
Dunno if a password has anything to do with this.

All i know is using the name trick i found 2 arreats in a row, whereas the 20 games previous i'd gotten nothing.

Anyhoo, i hope you enjoyed reading my "secrets" :D

Not true at all, game name has nothing to do with Magic Find.

whew, thanks for clearing that one up. i was afriad i'd have to see a bunch of real-word game names next time i got on bnet.
 
i thought superdave was joking when he first said he killed her too close to the pillar but now i guess your guys are telling the truth ..

so you should always try to kill the boss in an open area?
