MF league 2010 - round 5 - Secreet cow level - rune hunt

After longer break caused by holidays and MFO several weeks ago I am back with another round. We have not so lot of time up to end of the year so now you will enjoy shorter breaks between rounds :)
You have still lot of time to do everything with your score beacuse we are not in half of league yet.

here you have link for tournament : MFO league 2010

General rules :

1. You will run Secret cow level
2. SC/HC, both are allowed
3. Patch 1.10+ all are allowed , all mods are allowed (from vanilla up to CRM)
4. Start of round will be this Friday 13 August 0:00 end of round will be next Sunday 22 August 23:59 (time is based on your local time)
5. This time you have 20 hours of running time to do your result
6. Your order will be based on score from top 5 runes you will find during your runs
7. Round is open for everyone on SPF not only for players sign in in list but if someone new want to play this round, write me PM please
8. First 5 players in this round will recieve victory points to MFO league (from 5 to 1 points)
9. Your TOP 5 you will send me via email to mario (dot) babunek (at) seznam (dot) cz
10. Please do not post your qualifiers to discussion thread first then round will not be over and I will post results
11. After I will have all results I will post a results here and I will set up a table of victory points to MFO league

This thread is for all about discussion of this round so feel free to post your feelings from rune hunting :)
I wish good luck to all of you and I hope we will find lot of nice runes

Sorry for that I tried to find possibilities how to make better score list, I hope all players have enough time to do their 20 hours

So, I tried my javazon, which I've used for cow running to great effect in the past, and I was quite pleased with her. I figured my light sorc might be even better with proper equipment though, as her mobility is much greater etc, so I regeared her and fired her up.

She could barely touch the cows on p7, and that's with pretty nice equipment! "Barely touch" is relative of course, but it made me realize how ridiculously powerful Lightning Fury is in the cow level. I'm definitely going with the trusty ol' zon.

Damn, I don't know till when I'm on vacation. Perhaps I'll be back on the 19th so I will have some time, maybe not covering the whole 20 hours, but still.

Count me in. :)

bassano, look at this image. Use those settings, and you will for instance see:

(on p1, you can use other player settings if you want, the ratio will be the same)

Ko: 1/47400
Zod: 1/2560876

So Zod is 2560876/47400 = 54.03 times more unlikely to drop, so if Ko is worth 1 point, Zod should be worth ~54 points. Note that this will mean that Ber will be worth more points than Jah, for instance, but since it's a rarer drop, I think that's how it should be.

Edit:

I actually have the drop odds of the runes Mal - Zod in my spreadsheet already, so calculating the Ratio was pretty simple: Click me.

I guess this will be pretty worthless if you don't use Mal as the lowest qualifier, so maybe you won't have any use for it :) Oh well, Ko seems like such a low qualifier for me though.

Fabian: Thanks a lot , I will use a Ko as base , even I know it is a very low rune it will caused bigger points on top runes

jjscud, fabian: someone can put one more number after decimal point to that numbers in jjscud post? With one number more will be better I think

I'd really hope that 20 hours of cow running would produce at least 5 runes over a Ko for even the most unlucky of participants. I'd be interested in seeing the results of even the lowest scoring players.

DO not forget that someone will not have all 20 hours and could be even some partecipant still in 1.12 as I am e.g. :)
But I am really interested too for results.

I have cowazon armed and ready. Oh yes and rule should be "no cubing runes", since Zod > 2 Cham runes.

It's my belief that a 1.12 player is handicapped by at least a factor of 2 on the point scale provided.

Recovering Wirts legs must be included in total run time correct?

Also, can they be muled with a teleporter, or must they be run by the 'zon?

That's part of a run, definitely. Me, I just start the clock when I sit down to play, and stop the clock when I quit. I did consider hoarding a bunch of Wirt's Legs before the official timing started at midnight, but found that to be a bit too cheesey (and possibly outright against the rules) for my taste :)

I'm going to start hoarding Wirts legs/tomes tomorrow. It definitely counts as part of the 20 hours, but I'm going to use a different character to get them. I use a 200FCR (dual wiz-spike) barb. He has 20 in faster walk, 20 in howl, and can get the leg faster than any other character I have. I'll use him to get a stash of 100 or so and then cow it up. I'm planning on running with my javazon, my fire sorc, and a new cold sorc I've been trying to optimize for the job. So far, she's not meeting my expectations, but we'll see how the week goes...
