Mercs and Rainbow Facets

Does anyone know if Rainbow Facets work on mercenaries ?

I'm interested in the '100% chance to cast ... when you die' part, if that would work it'll give the monsters something to think about when they happen to kill my merc.

I have quite a couple of low % (3/3, 3/4) Rainbow Facets stashed which I won't be using myself, so why not put them on my mercs ?

Yes... but they follow largely the same rules as when you use them, so only one death-effect of each type will work (and they all, quite frankly, suck).

Oh yeah it work. I stuck four different type of death jewel on my bone necro's act 3 merc, light up quite a firework when it dies. But be adviced that it dosen't do much damage, so don't expect it to kill anything in hell.

On mercs own equipment yes ctc does work.

One thing to note is that facets add their +/- resists to the attack of the person using the facet and no one else. Thus only the merc in your case would benefit from the -resist on enemies.

Also multiple facets of the same ctc on death type will not go off multiple times its better to have different types for going off.

Shade did an experiment in the beta with these charms IIRC. It was a kamakasi (sp) build.

I'll stick some on one of my mercs and see what happens, even if it doesn't do a lot of damage, it should still be cool to see the fireworks...

I have debated the usefullness of these on Mercs as well. My Mercs don't die too often, but when they do it usually means things were pretty rough. It would be nice for them to help clear the area out.

But... based on this, they don't really do much damage when they die :grrr:

Is there some hidden area these Rainbow Facets are hidden or more likely to drop? I'm finding elite uniques like crazy, but I've yet to see 1 Rainbow Facet.

Mephisto (H) IIRC drops them. And he is a majorly run Boss for MFers.

I must disagree with this because I use a backup weapon for my hammerdin in pvp games, if i'm about to die and i know it, i'll switch from my concentratino/hoto to conviction/gemmed double axe with 5 death facets in it. the damage i do is quite extensive, in fact about 50% of the time it kills whoever happens to have killed me. also the facets work ranged in pvp. so if a bowazon kills me from far, the metero and blizzard actually land on her, even if she's off screen
