Tried the Oculus when it became possible to equip but went soon back to Spirit. Occy ctc teleport renders the (NM) viable tactic of point blank Firewalls useless. :/

Story
Alice was born from the need for everyday household runes obtainable by killing the Countess repeatedly. I thought it would be fun to test a combo of fire & lightning trees. My first idea was to to use FB and CB. Somehow along the way this all changed to Lightning and Firewall. Firstly Lightning felt more powerful than CB and so CB became a mere synergy skill. I wanted my skills to be on par with each other (versus strong main and weak backup for immunes). This proved to become a problem with two main skills both needing synergies. Especially for normal where skillpoints were scarse. Firewall felt effective with little investment and so I skipped the FB idea. Alice was played as Lightning and Firewall sorc practically through hell. I found some humour in that both main skills were in the form of straight lines applied either in 0 or 90 degrees of Alice.

Normal
Alice started with melee and ran Rakanishu on p8 until level 15 or so pumping both CB and Lightning. She then switched to P1 and turned to caster and rushed a bit. Killed Baal at level 25. :) Was a bit at a loss where to level as was unable to kill at higher player settings and going NM felt like a bit too harsh. In lack of a better plan Alice ran Eldritch til level 27, then switched to p1 Pindle and ran him to 29. Equipped Vipermagi, +1 sorc amulet, Frostburns and better mana charms and switched Rogue for a defiance Town Guard with Insight. The resulting skill and mana boost enabled P8 Baals and incidentally did those for a while.

Nightmare
Alice entered NM at level 45. Was done on P8 mostly (I might have set P1 for act bosses:whistle:). The lightning & Firewall combo worked well for NM where often it was just a question of which skill works best in any given situation if not both simultaneously. Also as Firewall use needs enemies standing still, tanking by mercenary, or to some extent Alice herself, was possible in NM. Maybe the most fun in general was had in NM Tal's tomb: Hordes of zombies succumbing to Lightning.

Hell
Alice entered Hell at level 74. Players were set to 1 from the start. Act 1 was ok, but already in act 2 I noticed a clear trend of teleporting more than fighting. At the same time I was becoming more and more unsatisfied with FW because the merc tanking was out of the window. Also the aiming hassle of FW made me wish for a no brainer autoaim complementary skill CL would provide. Especially as I had no use for CB. Nevertheless this all did not stop her from killing the Council, Diablo, getting to Anya despite Gloams, killing Nihlatak, killing the Ancients with first try (even though entering with a belt a few potions shy from full). But somehow, being killed by Lister, with all rejus used up, with too little gold for sidekick resurrection once more, broke Alices will. The fire(wall) was out. The next thing she remembered was somehow being back in Act1 with some other skills: Chain lightning, Lightning and Frozen Orb. The new tricks were tested a bit in the pits while leveling to 81 before moving on as someone forgot to put that useful 1 point in Frozen Armor at respec. Then it was off to the WSK & Throne and that was that.

Post Matriarch
After matting Alice returned to some areas to test if she'd do any better. The answer was yes. :) I did like Firewall and will surely give it another go at some point. I think I will need a stronger mercenary for it. A Cta (when I get my hands on one) and Reaper's Toll should sort this. Maybe also ctc Dim Vision from Gloom to shut down ranged attackers and/or ctc Confuse from Delirium to seriously mess up AI. On another note my CB & FB idea is not dead either.

Future plans
Alice already started her real job and has already provided a few Ko runes needed to start a Dragon Tail kicker (1 for upping Gores, 1 for Lawbringer). A few more Pul & Um runes would be nice and my plan is to harvest enough Tir and El runes to complete the Grail of Steel :)
