Maß thursdaily

RL: My office is moving to another building today. So I'm stuck in another office without my own computer. However, this sucky laptop that I've been given has a cool polarized screen thing so my colleagues can't see what I'm doing. Internets!!!

Later I'm going to pack. I'm going to Munich tomorrow. Oktoberfest. My Lederhosen will be very happy to once again be put to proper use! I can't wait.

D2 and OVG: no.

Re: Maß thursdaily

@fred - october fest? man so lucky... wish i could go! >:(

RL: kinda soggy weather out today, can't really get any of the yard work done that i had planed to with it raining off and on. figure once the grass get's past my ankle's it's time to cut it! other than my landscaping troubles... just chilling out today billing customer's and baking a banana nut bread (it's going to be awesome, cant wait to eat it!) ... and of course....

D2: as i have just returned to the game a few month's ago, getting fed up with the spam bots (haveing to play solo in pw games... is well just like SP, but without atma ><) on b.net so time to get rollin with some sp action. gotta decide what to start with though, i really hate the sorc... so maybe i'll give a windy or trapsin a go this time around.

OVG: majong(spelling?) on my phone.... dunno why but that thing is quite addicting.

Re: Maß thursdaily

Oh right, it's Oktoberfest already...is it considered whacky that I've never been to the Oktoberfest despite being Bavarian?

RL: No Oktoberfest, but work. Loads of it. No day this week where I came home/will come home before 9.30 p.m. :-/ Also developing a cough.

D2: Not today, but my Randomly challenged Barb needs to go for a walk in the jungle soon :)

Re: Maß thursdaily

I can't believe they keep letting me out
Neither can we, believe me.

RL: School, workout, back to room and waste time. I have a game night with some friends tonight, so that will be fun. Oh, and then study hall. Yay!
D2: Nein.
OVG: Half-Life 2 was vanquished last night, so Episode 1 or Lost Coast or whatever it's called will begin. I don't really know what to expect there in terms of length, but I am hoping to get finished and be ready for Far Cry by Tuesday.

I'd say the weird part is that people are doing an Oktoberfest in September.

RL: After my pc breaking down on me yesterday and me calling them (them = the place i bought it late june / early july) 15 mins after closing time, i gave it another shot today.
So i called them right from the minute they opened. So i get this girl on the phone asking for some number that should be on a sticker on the side of my pc. I'm telling her i don't have the number at hand right now as i'm at work. So she says she can't patch me through to tech support. I'm less then a minute into the conversation and already i'm thinking: OMG they're doing everything they can to piss me off. So after some perseverance from my side she connected me to the tech support anyways.
Now i get some guy on the phone that asks me if i have my pc at hand. So again i mention i don't as i'm at work.
He: Oh i'm very sorry, but in that case i can't help you.
Me thinking: WTF?!
He continues: you should call us back when you have the pc at hand.
Me: I did. Yesterday. Only you people were closed then.
He: Well, we can be reached from 8.30 till 17.00.
Me: I know, but i have to work then.
He: Maybe you should take your pc with you in the car or on the train to work.
Me thinking: Is he kidding me? It's so big i can barely lift it and he wants me to show up at work with that thing. Not to mention i'd have to take all the wires with me. Besides that i'd look stupid and i'm not even sure if i'm allowed to take it to work.
[..conversation went on for a bit, but i'll spare you]

Anyways as i found out in the part i left out here, they want me to do some stuff they tell me to do over the phone. Which sounds like a really dumb idea to me. I didn't open it up as i don't know anything about the inside of a pc and i didn't want to get into trouble with the warranty. Now they're gonna let me to this from a distance so they can't even see if i'm doing things right or that i'm just ripping the thing further apart.
As i didn't make it home in time today, i'll have to make sure i'm back in time from work tomorrow. However i fear it'll just be an expensive phonecall which ends in the pc still not working and them having to send some guy over to fix it anyways. Which means i won't be able to play D2 for at least the entire weekend! What to do with all that time.
For now all i can do is pray that, unlikely as it is, they can talk me through the process and have me fix it. I'm not gonna put any money on that though.

As for other RL things: went to get a haircut after work. It was really necessary. Going to play some sports later tonight.

D2: Don't have the time and don't have the pc to play it on, so in short: no.

Well it's my impression that not a lot of the locals go - at least that's what they're telling me. Mainly a tourist thing?

Where in Bavaria do you live? I moved to Nürnberg two months ago.

RL:
The whimsical impluses of the modern man are sadly paid with blood.

Heading out tomorrow or saturday into southern cali, surfing, tanning, sandy beaches, but only enough money for about a weeks worth of hotels. Then i'll have to find some way to make some cash for reaching my acting audition in LA.

D2:

Re: Maß thursdaily

@Cyrax: Seriously??? He actually suggested that you bring your entire computer in to you r work?

RL: Worked this morning. Now I am attempting to get some Office work done. Unfortunately that is on my computer, which as you can see, isn't really getting done. Then I have an acupuncture appointment here in a few hours.

D2: Progressing with my classic poison javazon, bout to smash Diablo's face in for the first time. I'm curious how the valk will stand up against him, she handled 3x p8 champion urdars quite easily, so we'll see.

OVG: nil

Re: Maß thursdaily

RL: After a crazy stressful day yesterday the plan today is to do NOTHING :coffee:

D2: Leveled my summoner from 33 to 47 last night, gonna keep going now! :scratchchin:

Re: Maß thursdaily

Hmm... interesting :scratchchin: thoughts here folks. Virgi's out for now, Cyrax's compy is having the le troubles, FoE is wearing Liederhosen finally. (Liederhosen corrects to Slaughterhouse. I imagine that's what he looks like with them on! MuHchahaha)

@Cyrax: If only there were a way for me to know exactly what your compy is doing, I may be able to help a little bit. I have no time limits. No limit, no problem. (PM me if you want. I could PM you and let you know, but hopefully you'll see this later on tonight, eh?)

RL: BASKETBALL! No, no basketball. Maybe next year. Going to a friends house tomorrow for the weekend since she is moving back to Africa. Well, headed back and then moving back to another state. BikersBlues&BBQ's is this weekend also in the same area. I reckon I'll have some fun with that.

D2: Oh, if only I had the preserverence as these here. I truly enjoy the game, I'm just saddened I lost my supposed to be HC MFer in act1 hell. *cries*

OVG: MINECRAFT! Then, MINECRAFT! God, I'm dreaming of blocks already. Digging, digging slowly into the ground. Cannot go straight down So I go in a zig patteren. No zag, just a zig pattern. I hear the freaking click click click of the blocks. I'd rather dream of running around the Blood Moar. I need to stop playing games.

OVM: MOVIE TIME! I need a good drink. A very good drink. First I need, naaa, drink first.

LEderhosen. And no, I look stunning!

Re: Maß thursdaily

Lederhosen...Liederhosen...all the same. Once you wear a Lederhosen, the next step is getting drunk, and the next is bawling songs ("Lieder" in German)...there you have the origin of the Liederhosen

@coju: Playing or watching Basketball? I wonder how long the lockout will last...

Re: Maß thursdaily

Grisu: Ah. I didn't know it was an actual word :)

Re: Maß thursdaily

@Cyrax: Seriously??? He actually suggested that you bring your entire computer in to you r work?

I wish i was kidding, but no. He seriously suggested that.

@Coju: Thanks for the offer. I won't have to take you up on that as i talked to tech support again today as i went home early so i'd be in time for that.

The problem couldn't be found over the phone (everybody who saw that coming raise their hands *Cyrax raises hand*). However because of the things that didn't work they came to the conclusion that my motherboard and the part that connects to the powersupply need to be replaced. So far so good.

Having established that, it was time to make an appointment to fix it. That's were the trouble began. They could come by to fix it on monday. However they couldn't name a time or even give an indication of one. I just had to be home the entire day. Yeah right, like i can just decide on a fridayevening that i won't show up for work on monday.
He: well we can make an appointment for a different day.
Me: i work fulltime i can't just take an entire day off. I'm usually home by 16:30 so maybe we could make say the repairman comes by between that and 18:00 (which apparently is the time they stop working).
He: No, no i can't do that. I don't control his schedule so i can only plan on which day he can come by.
Me: But that way i can never make an appointment as i work fulltime.
He: Can't you just take a day off?
Me: I can't. We're already behind so i can't take an entire day off. Maybe a few hours or half a day, but not a full day.
He: No sorry, we can't do that.
Me: Is it maybe possible to come on a saturday.
He: No.
Me: I'm running out of options here. Would it be ok if i take the pc to a place where they repair pc's and send you guys the bill?
He: Hell no. If you do that we won't pay for it AND your warranty no longer applies.
Me: Why not? In a repairshop i assume that people work there that know what they're doing.
He: <insert vague answer on why it cannot be done>. Maybe you can bring it to your parents or friends?
Me: My parents live 135km away (i didn't even mention the fact that they are on vacation so even if they lived right next to me it wouldn't make a difference). Maybe i could ask someone, but i doubt they'll be home for a full day. I assume they'll have to work too.

I'm not gonna write the rest of the conversation but in short there came a part of going forth and back to get some opening from their side as 1) i don't like to bother other people with my trouble 2) i really felt their customerservice should be better. I mean, come on. If you have a regular job you're screwed. 3) I don't have many people i could ask as both my neighbours aren't home, i don't know many people around here and as i mentioned earlier i assume most of them are in the same position as me and cannot stay at home for an entire day.
In the end it didn't help me any. So now i have to see if some people i barely know are willing to help me out and by some miracle also are home for a full day.

And just to top it off he also noticed it was passed 17:00 now so i couldn't make an appointment for monday anymore as they cannot be reached anymore until then. If i'm lucky enough i can make an appointment for tuesday, but it all depends on whether i can find somebody. If i can't, who knows. My next vacation is in december. And at work i've got a very busy period for at least the next 4 of 5 weeks so taking a day off before that will be hard.

At the end of the conversation he asks if i have any other questions or comments. Well i didn't have anymore questions, but there was one thing i wanted to say and that is that i'll never ever buy anything from them ever again.

It took me everything i had to not start yelling and cursing at him. Only thing that kept me from doing that is that a) he try to help and b) it's probably not his fault, but a stupid company policy that kept him from being able to help me (apparently in this day and age you get punished for having a fulltime job).

After hanging up i did hit something. Had to refrain myself from doing it more then once because i feared i'd break my hand and i'm pretty sure my pc-warranty doesn't cover any medical costs caused by frustration on their behalf. Now i'm totally pissed off and my weekend is totally ruined even before it began (i had planned to be behind the pc both for fun and for work). Only thing that may slightly improve my mood is if i can actually find someone to help me with the repairman.

I guess i'll see if the library is still open so i can stock up on some books. Maybe that'll help me shorten this weekend a bit. I wish i could just sleep through the whole thing.

*raises hand*

That's just terrible! What an awful company policy.

I recently had to stay home a half day to meet the internet repair guy. I waited 5 hours and called to see why he never came by. He did! Just didn't need to get in the house.

And his solution to my problem was to lower my speed.

By-by ISP, I'll find someone else thank you!
