Lower Kurast Runs

Re: Lower Kurast Runs

I'm not sure what you mean by "TC misc". Superchests, like those in LK, cannot spawn set or unique items. Sparkly chests are slightly different, and have a very small chance to try and spawn unique or set items.

Treasure Class Misc, as in jewels/charms/etc. Many people do runs with as low MF as possible simply because its less chance of getting uniques/sets when they are hunting for socketed items. Similarly its clear that popping superchests is a similar way of "controlling item drop"... although from what I have read here the chests are biased towards a treasure class that contains jewels and charms - which is most fortunate!

All objects (the technical term for "poppables") drop from chest TC's. The amount of picks they make is different, as is the desired quality, but the ratios at which they drop various item types is exactly the same for objects in the same area.

Yes which I what I wanted to know. Superchests dont drop uniques/sets. Normal chests do and are MF-affected. Sparkly chests... are they different? And what about the different tomb types in e.g. Countess' castle.

The TC's containing jewelry, charms, etc. are called Act X Good (where X is, of course, the relevant act and difficulty). Chests are indeed more likely to drop from those TC's than monsters are.

If my previous post wasn't clear enough, I suggest reading chapter 17 of the item generation tutorial.

Re: Lower Kurast Runs

The players setting doesn't come into affect until you open the chest so you can clear the area first [with lower player settings] if thats preferable then change player settings up to 8 just prior to 'popping' the super chests.

Act V Objects are the only Objects that can drop up to Zod. Kick me in the shins for this but I've actually had a sparky chest appear only one click from the first waypoint in Act V and now lost the map. If you can get 2 or 3 sparky chests in Act V in close proximity this could be more profitable than these LK runs.

Only if those chests suffer from the same bug/glitch/wha-eva that plagues the LK chests. AFAIK, no one has yet bothered to investigate if the LK phenomenon occurs for other chests as well.

I've done a few runs on act 5 sparkly chests. Not enough to create statistics, but still a few. It appears these chests have around the same rune drop ratio as the LK superchests, but they seem to be more likely to drop just a single item. They can drop sets/uniques, but they do so very very rarely.

Re: Lower Kurast Runs

My source is Lord Urlik's Rune Finder's Guide 2.0.

In this he explains that Act V Sparkly Chests popped with /Players 8 would require 625 000 runs to capture a Zod. Didn't read that bit the other day.

The figures from the guide for finding HR's from sparky chests in Act V(H) P8.
0.000071% for Zod
0.000249% for Cham
0.000373% for Jah
0.000435% for Ber
0.000652% for Sur
0.000761% for Lo
0.001141% for Ohm
0.001330% for Vex

I Totallized them for your convenience:
0.00168% Sur or better
0.002441% Lo+
0.003582% Ohm+
0.004912% Vex+

Sadly its times like these that you remember that even when the runs are done that there's still no guarantee of the drop anyhow. :hanky:

Of course they do: the rune/other item ratio shouldn't be affected by the limited amount of seeds. The number of patterns is limited, but each pattern should retain roughly the same spread of items as any other chest of that type.

@Zod: I'm reasonably sure that Urlik's guide was written before the LK phenomenon became hot.
