Low Level Random Tournament, Round 2

So anyway, I got a chance to play some more last night. Finished act 3 and 4 and started act 5. Got some interesting stuff.

Anyway. I finished everything else in act 3, quests and waypoints at level 26.

I completed everything in act 4 at level 27, and got the frigid highlands waypoint and killed shenk at level 28.

So, Kaosmaul got further than dudeofkaos so in retrospect it was a good decision. I think this mostly comes down to really lucky rolls.

A couple of things have been added to the prize stash.

I can't believe it, that stupid bug - Duriel - killed my barb, he was almost dead, when jabbed me quickly, drinking my last two rejuvs, then killed me.
I just wanted to know if Loki will manage to get to NM... (with those 12 points in Find potion) Now feeling like noob.

Okay, after a REALLY long time, I got started on RandomNatureMan. I started by doing the whole run through and grab waypoints and save Cain again. I had a bunch of stamina shrines, so it was made easier. The Cairn Stones had Rakinishu and another pack around them, so I dragged them away, then TPed back to town and took the WP back. Then I started with questing. Things went easily, until the black marsh. I ran into a CE archer pack, and I had 2 NDEs. The first one I got chilled, and the archers got me down to about 10 health. JUST BEFORE the killing arrow hit me, one of my ravens killed an archer and I leveled up. Also, when the archer died, the Nova almost killed me. Otherwise, the tower was easy as well.

Hi all, Odin is progressing. Act 1 and Act2 were done. I did some heavy Exp hunts before Duriel to level my Merc (so he can use his Savage Halberd now) and took a Combat Shrine from the other side of the Tal Rasha's Tomb. Duriel was down in around 20 seconds.

Well, Rager died. I managed to kill the Countess at Clvl 11, but decided to run her for some more runes, and died to an archer pack. As for trying again, I probably won't, since I'll only have 1 reroll left.

Hrus, please explain how you completed the staff quest at Clvl 23, but killed Duriel at Clvl 20.

Sorry, it's a typo. killed Duriel also at lvl 23.

Finished the 3rd Act, Odin almost died when Mephisto's Orb hitted him.

I' ve played a lot yesterday: Odin has killed Diablo, Ancients and Baal. He uses Rare Flail, and has diffculties to hit (around 60%). Skills he mostly uses are Sacrifice and Might. Defiance Merc is helpful, but soon i will have to make a dicision: Holy Freeze? Blessed Aim? or stick with Defiance?

Odin is lvl 33 and has these skills:
Defiance 3, Resist Lightning 4 (working), Might 6, Blessed Aim 3, Thorns 3, Sacrifice 6, Holy Bolt 3, Smite 6, Charge 3
I've used another reroll, I have only 3 remaining

Damn, i want ZZZZ... Zeal. But the probability to get that is now 1/17.

Leopold progressed a little further in Act III and is now running Kurast for a bit as I don't want to tackle Meph until about level 30. I know this will put me behind many of the rest of you low level wise, but my aim is to finish in the top 10 rather than to win.

Odin has cleared 1st Act NM and was leveling on Countess a little. So he got some runes and made Rhyme Shield and King's Grace Dimensional Blade. But he has real hard problem to hit anything - especially those monsters with block as Devilkins are the pain in the a...
Also I fear of Duriel - I have never faced him with such low skills. Have someone some advice? Maybe I will make some Strength runeword to get some CB and then switch to my King's Grace to finish him and use a Life Tap on him...
Maybe I fear for nothing and he isn't so strong as in Normal. (according to player lvl)

Hi, it's me again, but this is my last post...

Odin was slained by Scarab minion in Maggot's Lair 1. It was strange death. It looks like Odin died after the killing that minion by his lightnings. He had 75% LR, although no MDR nor absorb, VIT 110 and over 2/3 of life bulb. I didn't checked the properties of boss because he was around the corner. I am pretty sure I wasn't convicted.
Is it possible to transform multiple shot into scarabs minions lightning damage (or FE,CE damage added to lightnings? or Extra Strong?)

FE beetles are VERY deadly. If you are within Corpse Explosion blast radius, the death explosion damage is carried by every bolt, and you can easily be hit by a couple of them. This is also true for the minions of such a boss. It won´t bother you much in Normal, because they have so little life, but in NM/Hell, they are a true menace.

In what was a painstakingly long and dangerous trip through the Act 2 sewers, Lupin has finally killed Raddy. I'm not having problems with dying so much as killing speed, and I'm sure if I get impatient I'll have more NDEs. I'll probably get quite a few levels in Act 2 (maybe up to 40) for the fight with Dury that I really dread. I'll play more with Lupin as soon as Minerva (Tankazon) is done with normal Baal (she's already beaten ancients), but progress will still be slow.

Act 2 NM: Quest 1, WP 1 - LVL 26.

Killing Raddy gave me a level, I assume that killing raddy fulfills the quest, so it's 26, not 27. I also used two more rerolls and got Oak sage as my most recent skill investment. My next one should be at lvl 30. Oh joy, hopefully it'll be feral rage. At this point I'm probably not going to reroll anything except for elemental skills.
 
As far as I can remember, I have got the following skills.
Firestorm - 6, Molten Boulder - 12, Fissure - 3, Volcano - 12, Raven - 6, Heart of Oak - 6, Poison Vine - 3. And I've just rolled spirit wolf at level 1.

Haven't rerolled anything as I have been saving my 1 reroll to prevent me getting any shapeshifting skills.

I know it's a little late for you Hrus (for which my condolences :hanky: ) but I thought you might like to see another Paladin's skill rolls - Leopold's.

They are: Might 6, Prayer 3, Res Fire 7, Holy Fire 3, Holy Freeze 3, Res Lightning 3

You would think it should be "Yay! lvl 6 Might!", but in fact I'm using Holy Freeze as slowed monsters are much safer than a (slightly) higher damage output. During Act III I then switched to Res Fire whenever a flayer boss thing came along. Without it my resists suck as I'm using the Swordback Hold shield (50% OW and 60% max block - woot!!).

I could do with Zeal as well, but I'd need to roll Sacrifice first and it's not worth using up the rerolls to get them both.
 
Speaking of rolls... I think pals and barbs have it really tough. Barbs have all 6 weapon masterys automatically open to them, and pals have the 3 def auras with no prereq that are impossible to avoid. Druids, for example, have it easier. As long as you avoid one of the first 2 in the shapshifting tree or elemental tree, at higher levels, odds of rolling one of those 2 become even smaller, making it more likely you'll get relatively useful skills. I'm glad I rolled a class with easy to close off skill trees. Of course, I have to stop squandering those rerolls, which might mean more points in raven :lol:
 
Yes, Paladin and Barbarian rolls are tough - lots of auras and prerequisities for good ones as Concentration, Holy Shock, Conviction, in addition if Zeal doesn't roll ....

So my recommendation for new round (if there will be any):
with new skill point to spent:
1) Take all skills possible at your level (even those without prereqs done - for example Necro -1st pick will include both Raise skeleton and Skeleton Mastery and the other 1st lvl skills) roll one of them. Then roll 1-5 (or 8 or whatever) for the total number of skill points you have to invest in that skill.
If you don't like 5 in Amplify - reroll. If you roll skill you can't have, you must give the points to prerereqs first.
After finishing prereqs and chosen skill, repeat that procedure.

or
2) The same skill distribution as now except that after the random 3 skill points you can invest one "free" point as you wish. That will help with completing prerequisities. With this system not ten rerolls should be used, but 5 or so...

or
3) Completely another idea, but still based on random selection...
Before you start to play, you have ten rolls between all 30 skills. The skills you roll are banned for you. You have 3 rerolls, but can use them only for skills which are pre-reqs for another skills...

These ideas are free to discuss. That's only my opinion what it can give us:
1 - more fun with skill selection and more balance between characters
2 - more player impact on build, more survivability
3 - even more player impact, more unbalanced, but there should be great variety of builds nad play styles.

I even think of start some tourney like this, but I am not sure, I am the right person for that, being quite new in SPForum.
 
Just a note that Whimsy the Sorc was killed by Radament and his minions. This is my first time playing HC, and I made a rookie mistake. Radament revived corpses behind me who proceeded to encircle me - and my character was trapped.

I found no (zero) greens or golds! so I've no stash to donate.

I had fun, but now its time to move on to something else. Good luck to the hardy few who survive!
 
So I decided to go and kill Mephisto last night. ONly one NDE which happened by the entrance to Kurast. The Unique was LE and FE. Mephisto took an age to kill and I could not have a worse map to run him on. Might have to change that.

I also had to use my last reroll as I rolled werewolf. So now I am stuck with what I get. The reroll gave me Molten Boulder.

Found some stuff for the stash, mainly The Chieftain, and Nokozan Relic.

Made some progress with Leopold yesterday, taking him to the City of the Damned WP. Meph was relatively straightforward but I did have to make him chase me to get away from a group of Blood Lords.
