Low Level Random Tournament, Round 2

Well that's it... Hit Lost City wp lvl 20 and in my attempt to get the head piece still at that lvl, the Claw Vipers killed me off. Sucking pots valiantly and trying to get to a clear point, the vipers cornered me and keep me so busy recovering from hits and blocking even cobra strike couldn't save Randie_jr.
I have 4 rerolls left but I really don't see being able to get anywhere in a HC tourney with no S&E so I'm retiring with my current score.... Will be donating my greens and golds.
 
Ok, sorry for the delay. I've gotten the scores in and am uploading them shortly. I haven't played any, so no updates for me at the moment.

Sorry about your deaths, water_moon and shermo. As for items, all item donations are voluntary. Just remember that without donating, you get no picks from the final prize stash.

Now dead. I pressed on one of the seals in Diablo's area, and I got swarmed by a bunch of Pit Lord type fellas. Dead real quick.

Funny thing was that I thought I would be smart and put a portal between the 2 seals. Then run across one towards the portal just in case; I never made it to the portal. It was a big swarm.

Haven't decided whether or not I am going again or not. Still have 7 rolls.

So much for Necrotron, he bit it in a sudden Frenzytaur rush at Baal's throne. There was honestly nothing I could do to save him once I saw them; they tore up the Bone Armor and killed Necrotron in seconds.

Ah well, it's been fun. I have four rerolls left, but I think I'd rather bow out of the tournament now and take my points for doing everything in Normal except killing Baal. Alas, the world will have to do without two Swordback Holds, as Necrotron had the original on switch along with a second I had just found. I considered making an Iron Golem out of one for the 50% Open Wounds (Would that work?). And I never even got to make that Lore...

I had a bit of time to take the WarriorofRandom out into the fields of war once again. I progressed through the Maggot Lair and into the Claw Viper temple. Then I battled my way through the Arcane Sanctuary, killing the evil summoner in the process. Then I made my way into the True Tomb of Tal Rasha. I battled and battled until in one hallway, 3 or 4 Unraveler missles hit me at once, and by the time I could even think to use a potion, I was dead.

All the recent deaths has convinced me that my slow and methodical playing style is not a bad idea after all. I hope to get far with this character.

A Gull in the Jail! Only one problem: it´s ethereal (with only 9 durability). Mort bit the bullet and has now turned himself into a pacifist Paladin. He tanks for his rogue, without hitting the monsters. Defiance has become the main aura, mixed up with a little Thorns, a little Resist Fire and a little Resist Lighting (very good to have against the spitters). In emergencies, he can fight with Gull: the damage is listed as 8-83 with Sacrifice, but he prefers to switch weapons to his scepter with Might.

I found a nice rare Voulge in the catacombs and I decided to use it (with Sacrifice) against Andariel, along with Thorns (to reflect her mighty blows right back at her). A messy and bold plan, but it worked. I had to quaff six light healing potions, six rejuves and finally an antidote when she fell. She dropped Arctic Binding. Since Mort´s current armor only has +27% MF, I can increase that by muling the Arctic Furs back on and have +40% MF instead, along with +5 STR, nice resists and good defense, especially since I use Defiance. The weapon got passed on to the newly hired Prayer soldier. I think it´s a good starting weapon for him, what do you think?:

It will probably be replaced by some sort of Savage polearm at level 19 or so, but until then, it will do nicely. By the way, Mort starts act 2 Normal with a whopping +247% MF for the merc´s kills!

A great start for this character. Now if I can only roll Might anytime soon, it´ll be perfect.

Rick_Bayless got killed by a team of of MS Pit Lord + Conviction Spawner. Ah well...:hanky: I can't believe I found Sander's boots on 49% MF. Haha.

I'm finaly posting my first update. Randi has made it past act 1. Andy was pretty easy to kill. The hardest thing she faced was a pack of unique vampire dudes in the cats. All those fireballs were kicking her butt!

She has only found a couple things, Artic Bindings, Clegs Claw and a few rares.

I'll update. Not sure what I posted on my last update, but just in case I didn't thrown in my NM A1 accomplishments:

I tried killing Andy, but realized it would take forever, and a million trips back to town, so I just started running bishbosh a lot more. As soon as I get anything with CB I'm going to return to finish off andy, hopefully before hitting 25. My plan to get lots of items from Bishbosh is working ok, but even he can be tricky to kill at lvl 24, and I don't even try him when he has LE, or a nasty aura like conviction. He's given me 4 low sets, and 1 unique (morning star), and countless rares. Everytime he drops a item type with potential (ethereal yellow war spear), it turns out to have crappy mods. He's given me some nice charms and a couple of nice items, like my maul, and now my armor and boots. Also lots of gambling money. He's also dropped at least 6 rare claw class items, 2 of which seemed really nice for a low lvl sin and were thrown into the stash. One was ethereal with leech, ed, and auto repair for example. I've run him at least a hundred times, and I'm still could easily run him 200 more before leveling...
 
Well, Chaos_Knight got to be played a little bit. He picked up his cube and the wp on the way. Most of his time was spent levelling and looking for better gear, especially a good bow/crossbow. He's probably going to be a Ranger, his last skill was Holy Fire. At least for now, he'll be a Ranger. Anyway, here's my short update.

Cool finds last session: nothing exciting found, but three good Savage Polearms cubed: one Savage Halberd (merc owns everything with this at the moment), one Savage Bill and one Savage Battle Scythe of Amplify Damage.

Mort is mostly a walking aura provider at the moment. Defiance most of the time, Resist Lightning against beetles and lightning mages. Since the merc has such a good weapon and help from both Defiance and Prayer at the same time, he is a low-maintenance juggernaut of destruction at this stage. Mort only has to lead him around and pick up loot, clutching his precious Gull the whole time. :lol:

If need be, Mort can weapon switch to a 'Steel' Flail and a nice rare Rondache, and let loose with Vengeance (and Sacrifice when he is out of mana after 10 swings)

I guess I should have posted this a while ago. I didn't realise how fragile assassins are. Unfortunately Leela meet her doom not long after the last post I made. Only made 1 more waypoint at level 8 hardly worth mentioning. Well its been fun and I have no more rerolls left. Good luck to the remaining players.

Well that sure was quick. Randi is no more. She was up to level 17 and got killed by Radament. I can't belive he killed her. Not sure if I will reroll or not.

Acgually, it's funny, because killing Dury leveled me also. I was debating which way it went, and I decided that killing him was the quest, so I took the level I was at when I killed him, not after. Probably should have asked, but I guess that I guessed right. :lol:

Oh, I still am playing, and collecting items, but making no progress with either experience or level. A bishbosh run usually nets me about 1,000 experience. From level 24 to 25 the total needed is maybe 400,000? Well, either way, as soon as I hit level 25 that very nice experience penalty disappears.
 
The Adventures of Dude_of_Kaos Continue.

Dude_of_kaos decided to step forth into the fetid jungles with his shiny new gleamscythe. His Merc, who's name I can't recall, was also happy with his dimoak's hew(not the greatest I know, but it will do until I find a pike with life steal) He levelled, ooh, time to roll a new random skill. Roll Resist cold nah, I don't want that again. Reroll - Zeal. Wow, don'd even need to think about that one.

Moving slowly he managed to locate the spider forest waypoint and as he really really dislikes spiders, cleared both tunnels. Spiders all gone. While performing this task he came across a jade statue. Hmm, I could always do with more life. Next came the trek through the great marsh, just to find a waypoint. As the path didn't go anywhere he was a little upset. On to the flayer jungle. My 2nd least favourite area for a melee character. Found the waypoint, and just as I was lameting the lack of Life leech I found the gidbinn, and for a change I got a semi-useful ring. 4% life leech, +3 to minimum damage. Some other arb stats. Not great, but it will tide me over until I can craft a better one.

Decided to play until I levelled as this would be level 24 and give me a new random skill. Roll, Sacrifice, tough call increases zeal damage, but not a great skill for a HC character. Reroll, Might. Great skill, but I don't want to open the offensive tree. Reroll Resist Lightning - Tough call. This could prove really useful later on, If I get to nightmare or hell, but I don't think this is all that likely with this character. So I thought one more try hoping for vengeance and I got......defiance. This will help. First things first though, go and fire that defiance merc I've been using and get a blessed aim one.
