lost my extra CD but still have my keys any solution?, Other than buying a another

Hi I just unearthed my old copies of LOD.
I found all except for my second play disc of the expansion.(I had bought a extra when I left the originals on a trip lol)
If I still have the original key serials. Is there any way I can install both on different machines to use simultaneously on bnet. Lets say making a copy of the remaining CD and somehow using the my other keyserial.
Or is my only solution is to go out and buy a third(arghh) copy of the expansion?
thanks

I don't believe that there are any non-hack ways around your problem. D2 Expansion is dirt cheap on Ebay if your looking to save some money.

Ahh not only am I looking to save money I was also looking for instant gratification with saved money lol hehehe.

i don't think burning a copy of the cd violates anything so long as you only use the CD for yourself. As in don't sell it or let friends "borrow" it.

That said, assuming you can copy the disc propery, you should be fine. A lot of game CD's now are pretty much "copy proof." So unless you have the right burning software, which is usually pretty spendy, you won't be able to use your typical Windows CD Recorder to do it.

yup but how do I handle the different key?
Like where can I change registry to use at the same time on different computers
Not that I am very knowledgeable in fooling around in the registry lol.
But I can try

Since you bought the games in the past I would just download or create the image of it and run it with a program to install it.

this thread is going to deteriorate very fast at this rate....

My ultimate, and 100% legal recomendation is to just but a new copy of the game. It honestly is really cheap. and you can prolly find it on ebay for a few bucks.

Yea, better watchout, or swats are coming for you.
Yup not very popular
But yes I have the 2 CD keys
2 sets of diabloII installation CD
and only one expansion CD left.
Either I lost my extra one, or someone swiped it out of my old computer cdtray where I left it usually.
But I actually wrote the CD keys down as the sticker deteriorates rather fast.
And I checked them a few minutes ago still safely scribled

have you tried just taking the game out of the drive once you boot it up?

when we have LAN parties with my buddies, only one of us brings all of our CD's with to avoid confusion. We boot up Warcraft III, then eject the disc and pass it on. Granted, we all own the games we're playing, we just don't bring all the CD's with, like I said, to avoid confusion and getting things mixed up.

nope never tried it
but i just found a copy at ebgames?
Hopefully it will still be there by the time I get there(not the latest game but still good lol)

Thanks

wise choice young grasshopper.

You can do what Stompwampa said: eject the disc after booting the game. A working copy should also be ok. I don't see any legal issues with it either... you still have your keys and a personal backup is allowed anyway.

Dunno if someone has suggested this but u could try using an image mounter to mount an image of Dii lod onto one of ur drives eg. Demon tools or Alchol 120% on one or even 2 of ur machines

If you'll want to have both playing on bnet at the same time, you'll have problems since you'd have installed both machines with the same CD and subsequently, same CD key.

TriggerHappy has got it right. There is no non-hack way to install the game on a machine with a CD then change the CD key being used.

Not neccessarily. You can use the same disc to install as many games as you want, so long as each machine has a seperate CD key. The keys are not tied to a specific CD.

But you are correct that if he used the same CD-key to install both games, then there is no legal way to change that. Best bet is to do a re-install with the other CD-key.
