LLD lvl 9 char suggestions/help

I basically just MF while on D2, but I'm getting rather bored doing it so that got me thinking of making a lvl 9 LLD character to raid norm games to PK just for kicks :) and duel as well. I am not sure what character or gear to look for, I've only ever used Paladins and Sorces and they've all been either hammerdins or Blizz sorc ;\ So I'd like to get some suggestions on what type of char is best at killing at such a low level and gear to look for to maximize effectiveness of the char I plan on making. I don't plan on ever going past level 9 on this char, so things like blinkbat, cthon boots and angelics are out.

Current items I have are,

Greyform leather armor
Bloodfist gloves
death gloves+sash
hsarus boots
hands of broc gloves (dual leech)
rare war hammer: lvl 5 req (req str 53) 22-37 dmg, 16% ED, +4 max dmg, 17AR, 1-8 lightning dmg, 1-2 cold dmg

is that war hamer any good to use or is something like Cleglaw's better? Any advice sure is appreciated!~ :thumbsup:
 
well I spent about close to an hour making a lvl 9 sacrificer based upon my war hammer. I dueled some lvl 18/19 barbs and killed them, but they weren't obviously using the best gear. I made my char like this...

helm: 10fhr, 7res (haven't gambled anything good so far/not sure on good helm)
ammy: Civerbs - rep life+4 (not sure on ammy yet)
weapon: (lvl 5 req) 22-37dmg warhammer - 16%ED, 17ar, +4max, 1-8 lightning, 1-2 cold dmg, 50%undead dmg
shield: Pelta Lunata - 40/20 +2str +10vit +10energy
armor: greyform - 5%LL +10dex 20FR 20CR
boots: hsarus' boots - 20FRW 25FR
belt: death sash - cant be frozen / +15all res
gloves: death gloves - 30IAS / 8%LL
rings: 2x nagel rings (73/72AR)

53 strength
20 dexterity
42 vitality
15 energy

Sacrifice lvl 9 (extra skill pts from Radament/Izzy quests *only on norm are they done*)
Might lvl 3

dmg: 116-202
AR: 522
Def: 118
Life: 152 (haven't done act 3 quest for 20life yet)
mana: 42

FR: 60
CR: 35
LR: 22
PR: 65

This seem any decent for the stuff I have? Is resistance all that important for dueling such low level chars? I've been thinking about using cleglaw's and the umbral disk shield which would improve my AR. Haven't gotten those specific items yet though.
 
Here's my suggestion;
Full Cleglaws
Hsaurus Boots + Belt
Darkglow
2x Rare rings (75+ Attack rating, Cold/Fire resist)
~ Not sure about ammy ~
Biggins Bonnet

Edit: Don't use sacrafice, it's a terrible attack in PvP. I would suggest making a level 9 basher barbarian with the mastery of your weapon and 1-2 points in bash.
 
If you wanna make a dueling char that really owns people 15-20 levels higher than you, a lvl 12 pike charger is the way to go in classic. A full cleglaws zealer can do well too, but the carnage isnt as immensse as it is on a charger.
As for lvl 9 sacrificers, cleglaws set really is excellent.
 
i find my lvl 9 ama gud enuff,
her merc uses 3 sock superior hunters bow with 3 jewels 20 poison damage each, 2 sock helm with 2 jewels 20 poison damage each and 3 sock armor again with 3 jewels 20 poison damage each.
She uses rare javelin with 8-12 fire damage and 53%ed and mana leech 2%
biggons bonnet socked with flawed ruby, 2*nagel, pelta shield (socked with 9 max jewel), hotspurs and bloodfist, and arctic belt, rare amulet 10 life and cold res 9%,fire res 15%, light res 8%.
she uses jab

Back on topic,

Lvl 9 llds are not that great, lvl 12 is when the fun starts.

But, if you must make a lvl 9, i suggest you go with a cleg sacrificer

3X flawed ruby mask
Clegs sword//shield
Deaths combo
r/w boots
greyform
High ar nagels, or if you can find a better rare counterpart
rare ammy of some sort...

1 might
rest sacrifice

Yeah, I've never made level 9 duelers.
I have made at least 20 level 12'ers.
Once you can use angelic rings + ammy combo, a whole world of options opens.
Not to mention by level 12 you can use Normal Gems instead of Flawed.
 
I strongly suggest you forget about this whole lvl 9 thing, and just make a lvl 12 dueler.

lvl 9 dueler= pretty good vs chars >lvl 20
lvl 12 dueler= can take down most lvl 30's with ease, and some high lvls


Make a lvl 12 full clegs charger...

full clegs
angelic combo
deaths sash
any boots
greyform (i <3 this armour)
3 ruby mask or biggins

1 charge
rest might

The good thing about this build is that it hits hard, has cb to actually hurt vs high lvls, almost garuanteed to hit if they dont block, and if charge misses your lvl 1 smite will actually hurt (due to crushing blow)

Also, with clegs range 1 charge will hit much more rapidly than a pike (although the pike will hit runners better)

I love using angelic armor, although fire resistance is not that important in LLD, the +1 skills amplifies your damage greatly and the mana really helps for continual charging. Alot of chargers forget how painful mana can be if you have no items to boost it, biggons does the same job.
 
Thanks for the help :) But since lvl 9 is really limited so I've decided to go with a lvl 12 charger. I did a quick search on here and found the LLD Fun guide.

"1 smite, rest might *Charge Synergie*, then dump into charge, even if you are going to use a res aura make SURE to dump lots into might because it helps the damage of charge greatly / Charger = Good Damage Pike, Full cleglaws or a hammer + shield combo"

So the weapon thing is just a preference I assume... and about the armor, is greyform the most preferred because of the Dual res/dex/life leech or could a blinkbat be used instead because of the 40FHR and extra 10FRW? I think i've read somewhere that fhr is useless in PvP.
 
For a level 12 charger, in my opinion, go with angelic mantle.
Think about it, it's the difference of level 1 charge + 13 might and level 2 charge + 14 might. Useful, and the 200+ def / 50 mana is a nice feature.

blinkbats req is lvl 14 iirc.

The r/w wont help on a lld charger

Also, looking back on it, i do see angelic armour paried with the ammy and 2X rings more effective than greyform... and it will help a lot vs higher lvl fire sorcs, whereas cold + light res i see kinda useless on a lvl 12 charger, as foh + orb//blizz will most likely **** you if they have decent cm

Greyform does prove that sweet +10 dex tho, coupled with angelics partial combo allows you to use clegs sword w/ base dex :/

he knows that, he mean the combo plus grey form eliminates problem.

base 25 dex, +10 greyform+10 angelics.

The set bonus can't be regained by wearing two rings and the ammy, it stays at a single +10 bonus, unlike cathan's where you can get the bonus per ring.
 
If you are looking for resistance at a low level, an item which many people (Myself included) overlook is the +10 to all Resistances given by Infernal Cranium.
 
I'm thinking of making a new NL level 9 clegs basher. This should be fun :D

My current setup would be:
Full clegs
prepatch eye of etlich
prepatch SOJs
Biggins bonnet for more damage

For belt/armor/boots, I'm not sure yet.
I'm trying to get some PP gtoes to use, and maybe a pp bladebuckle if I can. 10IAS from PP twitch wouldn't be much, and a mid one is too hard to come by. Maybe I can pick up a PP rattlecage, which would complete my crushing blow setup.
