Larzuk's socket quest

Isn't this suppose to give the maximum possible sockets in a white item?

Today I tried to socket a white Volgue which according to Arreat Summit shall get 4 sockets. It got 3 for some reason, same for my friend. And this is second time I try it.

The item can have 4 sockets, I have found one and used Insight in it before.
Maybe bugged or something, cause as I understand white items should get the max. sockets form the quest.

Anyone know otherwise?

Max sockets accordingly to their ItemLevel. So for example, a crystal sword from normal cows (ilvl=28) gets 4 which is perfect for spirit. Items with ilvl<40 iirc always get their max.

ilvl = level of the monster that drops it.

Note that items upgraded from low quality to normal using the H-cube formula have an ilvl of ONE. I found this out the hard way last season.

Does it matter what type of game you use the quest in?

Example: If I find a CV in a HELL game, will I get the max sockets if I use the socket quest in a NORM game?

Also, has a date been established for the next ladder reset?

Nope, only the item level matters, and it doesn't change if you move it to a different difficulty level.

OK, so say I find a voulge in hell diff and I socket it, I should get 4 sockets. But after doing that can I up it in the cube and retain the sockets?

There's no way to upgrade socketables, normal or magical items. Only rare and unique items can be upped with cube.

Items with ilvl 26-40 = 4 sockets max (unless their max socket count is lower)
Items with ilvl 40+ = max sockets always

This is provided the item is white.

If the item is blue, it can get either 1 or 2 sockets. If the item is any other quality, it will always get 1 socket.

Nope, altho rws have the same colour as uniques, the upgrade formula won't work on them.

I have a 2 socket IK maul. If I gave it to Larzuk, would it get one more socket?

What would be the best things to put in my IK maul, anyway?

Won't work. If an item already has sockets, then Larzuk can't put more in. Only plain items can be used to add sockets to by Larzuk.

Put shaels in if it helps you with a breakpoint. Otherwise maybe Eths if you have low AR, a perfect sapphire to chill enemies or enhanced damage jewels to increase physical damage.

this like many things can be exploited. always pick up the most popular elite armors (dusk, archon, maybe wire fleece) if they're cracked or otherwise low quality. do the handy dandy fix in the cube and you'll get an armor with a random def that if you then larzuk is guarunteed to get 3os (perfect for the favorite runewords).
