ko vex thul pul

Hey longtime reader first time poster.

I just started playing D2 again 2 days ago returning from a 2 year break. I hit lvl 82 today but things where going slow gearwise until i this morning when trying to loot a mana potion happened to open a hidden stash.

Guess what dropped? a Vex i was thrilled, the 3 other runes in the runeword Hoto wouldnt be that hard to find and after a few hours of trading i had all the materials for the Hoto in my bags.

i double and triple checked the order that the runes should be placed in the Flail but managed to **** it up, isntead of getting a Hoto i recived a Ko vex thul pul Flail.

I guess it was bound to happen. Somethings are just to good to be true.

Am i alone or has anyone else done something similar?

I haven't messed up a runeword yet, but what I have done is accidently insert one into an item by moving them around in stash/inventory. That can be somewhat annoying too especially if you're doing it quickly and not thinking.

i´ve lost tons of pgems doing stuff like that.
Never lost any good value rune tho. I usually put all the higher runes in the uper left corner of stash, so i rarely touch them.

it dosnt happen to be any GMs or something that can resolve stuff like this?, really lost the mood to continue after this.

I screwed up a Bramble armor once. And a week ago I failed at an Edge bow, although that wasn't such a big loss :azn:

Sadly no. This is printed in very visible red letters on the arreat summit site:

"[FONT=arial,helvetica][SIZE=-1] Keep in mind when experimenting with unknown Rune Words that you must be prepared to accept the loss of your Runes if the formula does not work. Rune Words must be inserted into the correct item for the formula in the correct order. Blizzard cannot restore lost items for any reason including due to your failure to properly create a Rune Word." [/SIZE][/FONT]

Noone has mentioned the infamous Infinity and Last Wish screw up yet????

Whats the matter with you people!!!???

Most I have done is tried making a Phoenix Armor after seeing a Zerk Barb with one. Yeah, he had a shield, not armor. Fun gemmed armor I had there.

I usually triple check the runeword. First, since I know what i want, I have already looked up the runeword and read it a dozen times. Second, I get all the runes and put them in order in my inventory. Third, I go back to the AS and write down the RW, then go to the game and insert each one while crossing off my list. I've done this with every RW I've made - no errors yet.

are you playing ladder or nonladder? if u are on nonladder i can give u a free hoto (on europe).

I usually pop a few beers and randomly throw the runes in the sockets and hope for the best. Are you telling me that my way of doing it is wrong?

This snide comment is my fault, as I didn't realize that you were only looking for sympathy. You obviously were not practicing caution, so I thought I would suggest that you do. I thought you might welcome a suggestion on how to avoid mistakes in the future. My mistake.

I messed up a Hoto once too. It was going to be my first good RW ever and, guess what? Thul Pul Vex Ko... i was really pissed, but heck, you will eventually get over it. I used the Anya quest to put my name into it... Kirtash's Flail or something (should be FAIL :P). Of course, my mistake was... stupider than yours, but still, just get over it.

I never messed up a runeword because I'm paranoid enough to triple-check it.

Now, accidentally putting stuff in sockets while moving things around? Yes. Lots of times. Haven't lost anything more valuable than a Pgem, but it's just a matter of time, I think.

I do that exactly too. Probably because I rarely ever make runewords though, and when I do I would prefer not to muck it up like Edison did.

I made a lastwish in a 5 socket phaseblade once; or I tried to.

Always check the base is right not just the rune order...

I'm pretty sure that Ygglol was joking when he posted - he certainly made me laugh out loud! Self-deprecating humour, and all that.:wave:

I usually triple-check the high-end rule words before making them.

Worst mistake I've made (so far) was trying to make Insight in a spear-class weapon. Nope, just because a merc can hold it doesn't mean it's good for Insight...

although if you could make an Infinity spear, it'd really revitalize the spearazon class
