Item personalization

Re: Item personalization

LorveN IIRC.

Re: Item personalization

There is a good thing to all this. I got a nice personalized eni Bp for 2 is pul a while back. Not too bad a deal i would say.

So it's not all bad :)

Re: Item personalization

I wouldn't want personalised item, why personalise it in a first place?
I usually personalise some crappy item just to have a quest closed, i'm quite pedantic. I also have all WPs :)
And it doesn't make me an idiot, everyone's different

Re: Item personalization

I never use Personalise unless its for something that I know I wouldnt trade for or something that of great sentimental value to me.

Re: Item personalization

What difference does a name make to the item? None at all. You can tell people you use marrowwalks, and that's that. It's the same item. If someone offered me "deleted Gore Riders" in return for my marrowwalks, id take them for sure. Like I said, nobody but you will see the item name, D2 isn't like wow where there's an armoury to view everyone's items.

Unfortunately, "name" matters, even in real life. Take for example a Mercury Tracer and Ford Escort. Exact same vehicle (they were in 1997 anyway), only the name plates are different. Yet a Ford person will tell you a Mercury sucks... and vice-versa.

This reminds of funny story. I went to a quick-lube oil change place about 20 years ago to have the oil changed in my Honda Civic. After talking with the service tech, I went into the lobby and sat down. A few moments later I was verbally attacked by some moron: "Rice-burner. That's the problem with the world today. You need to buy American. Blah, blah, blah." While listening to the rant I glanced out into the garage area to see what the guy was driving. I turned to him and responded: "Nice American-branded car you have there. Do you know that specific model is built overseas, in Japan, using Japanese parts and labor. My Honda there was built at the Honda plant in Ohio, using American made parts and labor. I think you should buy American." The person didn't say another word.

Re: Item personalization

I only personalize items that I know I'll never trade, like my self-made perfect spirit (in a beautiful eth crystal sword). I use it for sentimental value and while worthless to most, it'd be priceless to me and I wouldn't trade it anyway.

Re: Item personalization

Did someone bring up Goodness-Graciuo's Great Maul of Fire?

Re: Item personalization

Well, if you're into that, you can make a character named "Edge" and make an Edge runeword in an Edge Bow...
Even better is "Warden's Warding Ward of Warding"... The irony is that it is useless and will not ward you from pretty much anything.

Let's think of some good ones...

God's Wrath (although I'm pretty sure with runewords it will say "God's Matriarchal Bow"... pretty lame)
Uncle Sam's Call to Arms (means YOU my boy)
G.W.Bush's Delirium (for the libruls out there)
Churchill's Enigma (you know that saying about the Soviet Union)
Doom's Gloom, so there can be doom and gloom (for the emo kids)
Baal's Destruction (lame I know)
Beggar's Dream (since it's expensive)
Razor's Edge (and ofc the unique on switch)
Chaos' Harmony and Harmony's Chaos
Ayn Rand's Voice of Reason (ooh she is a prophet! :jig:)

Some uniques:

Russell Crowe's Gladiator's Bane
Vlad's Dracul's Grasp, that a given
Bjork's Shadow Dancer (no wonder it hurts to dance with that str req!)
F5's Horizon's Tornado
Hermann Göring's Messerschmidt's Reaver
Grandson's Grandfather
Jenna Jameson's Hellrack
Giggler's Diggler (just for the laughs)
Gandalf's Wizardspike... Hmm... ...
Vin Diesel's Steel Pillar (don't ask)
Chuck Norris' Warpsear (stay silent)
Mr. T's Skull Collector (ditto...)
**** Cheney's Pus Spitter (ok you may talk... not...)
Ok something chaste for the end... Lo Wang's Iron Jang Bong.

That's all, folks... I may think of some more later. :scratchchin:

Re: Item personalization

Personalizing runewords is abit of a disappointment because the char name doesn't go next to the runeword name, unfortunately. Personalizing rares though will yield better results. Rare names are generated using RarePrefix and RareSuffix, and mostly tied to specific items.

Here's a list of the rare name combinations and what item types they can be applied to:

I remember back when I had some char names like Lucifer, Hero, Tyrael, Izual, Goddess and Huntress. I had this rough plan to someday personalize a faux set for each based only on the best rares with the ideal names, but I never ended up doing it. I don't remember the names I was looking for back then, but after looking through the list some good ideas might be:

Lucifer's Brimstone Cloak (Body Armor)
Reaper's Death Shroud (Body Armor)
Reaper's Death Touch/Grip (Gloves)
Izual's Corruption Collar (Amulet)
Hero's Demon Bane (Mace)
Goddess's Soul Chain (Belt)

The difficulty would be with not only getting a godly rare with stats, but for it to have the appropriate prefix and suffix for the name as well.

Re: Item personalization

I remember a Guy right after 911 on west named OsamabinLaden
Everyone rushed him to Slayer and after that he could not get a rush.
