Is there a recipe for +2Skill Amulets?

I have been through the Cube recipes and don't quite understand if 6 skulls plus one rare amulet will actualy yield a plus 2 skills amulet. I don't want to waste my only 6 perfect skulls nor a rare amulet to get a +2 to Mana amulet.

Any info on this?

If you craft at lvl 90 and have an amulet with ilvl 90, you can get +2 to a certain set of skills (+2 paladin skills for example). Making a 'caster amulet' as a craft having a chance of 20 fast cast in total as well is probably the best hammerdin amulet around if the other mods are good (+skills, some resists).

You can gamble +2 skill amulets as well at about lvl 87 I think and onwards. This could be on a magic amulet or a rare one. High level gambling amulets is really about the best thing to do with your gold, or gambling a weapon that could potentially have 400% ed damage and other good mods. It takes a lot of patience, a lot !

IIRC, if you want +2 skills amulets, from i what know, you'll need a very high lvl character. Getting a +2skills rare amulet from anywhere requires high clvl or mlvl.. And don't worry about perfect skulls, they are easy to get later on in hell.

edit: slow typer here. better explanation above.

Malachi also forgot to emphasize that it takes alot of gold! Although not that much really.

Since the search function is back up you can find many threads about ammy/ring gambling ... or gambling in general. I've gambled many +2 skills plus other mods rares with my clvl 90 necro. By the time you do Pit runs./Lower Kurast runs on p8 etc in Hell you can pick up an absolute ton of gold and items worth 35k using up only 1x2 space in your inventory. Especially if you use Chance Guards and other stuff like the Wealth runeword.

I haven't done crafting in a long while but potentially you can some of the best items in the game doing this. When I did this a long time ago I found it more difficult to get that elusive +2 skills ammy by crafting than by gambling for what it's worth. However, crafting probably offers a better opportunity to get those great mods you want as long as you have the ability to do it.

I'm not an expert but from what i've read your chances of getting a +2 skills item increases with character level. Something like the earliest level to have a small chance is ~ 85ish but your chances get better as you get to level 90-91-92ish or something like that.

Somebody like Thrugg or RTB or Igor et al would know more about this.

A craft example, not too bad for an elemental druid who wants to have some block too:

Chaos Scarab
Amulet
Required Level: 89
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 90
Fingerprint: 0x9d1be129
+19 to Dexterity
+37 to Mana
Regenerate Mana 5%
All Resistances +15
+2 to Druid Skill Levels
7% Faster Cast Rate

The Fast Cast is a bit too low, the aim for me would be to have 15% Fast Cast, +2 Paladin Skills and possibly some other good mods. Just another few hundred crafts needed to do this.. o well :)

Thanks everyone.

I guess I will just keep hacking and slashing until I get my Paladin up a few more levels. I have a ways to go, I am still at 49!

There are some ways to level a bit fast. One I sometimes do is run Eldrich (the little guy with minions at first waypoint in act 5, NOT Shenk) on a higher players setting. In Hell exp is easy untill level 85 or so, after that it slows down and after level 90 it becomes a crawl, but who cares, your character should be finished by then as far as stats and skills are concerned. The last possible 9 levels are just 'icing on the cake' or something (not a native English speaker here).

Just dont forget to pick up all blue rings and amulets, they can be quite good actually.

Well, if you can handle it, doing the pits at players 8 will get you to lvl 90 pretty fast and it might net you some great items too.

Crafting can yield you fantastic results but since your limiting ingredient is normally the rune (amn), a lot of patience is needed.

Why Amn ? I rather get a caster or a safety amulet, and sol is needed for the goodly rings. Sure a blood amulet could be nice too but there is more then just that craft.

Malachi's answer is the best to the starting question. I suggest reading the in game item manipulation guide in the FAQ, My guide defines rerolling and how to get those type of affixes. The guide is pretty indepth and has been checked over by RTB Thrugg and others for acuracy. You still have to know the alvl of your desired affix, the +2 skills is alvl XX IIRC it needs an ilvl of 90 on the amulets so you can run through the reroll recipe to determine what items and ilvl, clvl you need to make such an item.

Runes for crafting are easy to get, the countess is your friend in nightmare to get all the crafting runes you need, jewels on the other hand take a bit of luck since you have to have them just drop. You can force as many runes as you have jewels to craft them. Anyone can harvest gems for the craft thats just playing normal cows or act 3 nightmare, anywhere with lots of enemies to kill.

@nationwide look for +2 skill tree amulets in about 5 clvls they should start being able to drop shortly, I doubt your clvl 49 can handle pit runs :grrr: so running the bloody hills at players 8 always worked for me. you should get lots of gems there as well as some decent gear before changing up to the next difficulty. If your a MFer then you can run any of your favorite bosses to get those levels it shouldnt take too awful long to do.
