Is Bone armor useful for a Novamancer ?

Hello,

I've recently discovered this boards and, much to my delight, realized that the build I was planning (maxing all poison-related synergies and equipment) was used by many other fellow necros.

However, it seems to me that every poison build pour 60 points into poison, then put the rest into either Max Lower Resist or summons, in order to deal with Poison Immunes.

I never really liked summons - they're weak, they're cumbersome, and they don't fit with the meleemancing part I like so much. I'll try to find other ways to deal with those bastards, but using revives or golems to pound 'em is just not my style.

This got me to wonder where I could pour the extra 40 points I would have if I were to get to lvl 90 (bear with me, I'm a casual player and probably won't get there any time soon ;). So, apart from about 10 points I'll have to put in curses, there's 30 pts I can put in Bone Armor and synergies.

Would a maxxed Bone Armor with 10 points in a synergy and this Marrowstuff everyone talks about be enough to get a strong armor ? With the PvP penalty, would it be a viable meleeing option against tougher bastards (say, Barbarians, assassins, paladins) ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Welcome Newcomer to The Darkness. Grab a brew and feel free to raise some corpses.

First of all max BW first and then put the leftover points in BA. The synergies to BA give +15 hitpoints to your BA, while a point in BA only gives +10 hitpoints.

Getting a strong BA for a Poisonmancer is certainly a viable option. In the PvP Poisonmancer guide this was advised. The link is currently down, but I'm working on recovering the guide.

I don't know how well meleemancing will hold up against melee attackers. You can not reach the FPA that they can. Your AR can be brought up to spec, but your Hit Recovery will be low compared to theirs.

I'll have a look at this guide as soon as it's back online, then.
Thanks for your quick help, I'll do just that and get a nice Bone Armor with those BW synergies.

then put the rest into either Max Lower Resist

Never do this, LR is so diminishing it's a complete waste of points IMO.

Yes, a good bone armor is seriously advised for a poison necro, with maxed bone wall and the marrowalk but you can have as good as a bone armor as a bone necro, which isn't bad for 20 extra points ;)

I like Bone Armor for doing boss/unique runs of any kind. If you get a Necro with a lot of speed gear, you can buzz through a section pretty quickly and just spam bone armor whenever you get hit as you run through a crowd since most elemental attacks are easily avoided. I would only put 20 into the bone wall synergy and use marrow walks. You could put the other 20 into Dim Vision or corpse explosion.
