Iron Golem Aura

Put simply, yes. Iron golems retain auras, I suppose if your a bit too rich or are fooling around on single player you'd find that a beast iron golem is mucho fun ;)

Thanks for replying in both threads. I will be getting Vigor from my Harmony bow, Thorns from my Bramble armor, Might from the Merc, Conviction from the Merc's weapon, "Fanaticism" from the Wolverine sage, and I guess I will go for Meditation from an Insight if the golem will spawn from a polearm. Another reason for wanting to use insight is the cheapness.

Also, I was wondering if the golem would spawn from a Medusa's gaze or a Pus Spitter. And does the Iron golem transfer between games for other chars like it does for necros.

iron golems do transfer between games if summoned by a necro with the skill itself. charges of iron golem does not make a golem that will follow you between games.
Necro's golems are permanent, until they or you die.
:fish:

IG transfers between games. IG is supposed to only be made from items that have metal. I haven’t tried all items; items like the IK mail technically shouldn’t contain metal, and you can make an IG out of it; but this should generally hold true. You cannot make an IG out of any bow or crossbow; I haven’t tried to make one out of a thrown weapon, but this would probably work.

Any IG made out of a weapon will have very poor survivability in hell. Sooner or later you are going to get distracted and not notice that some monster is flattening your IG, and you will be out a good item. The AR stats on the IG are grim, so it wont work very well as on offensive weapon in hell. The best place for an offensive IG is norm and nm; just use some random unique with good mods like CB or slows enemy.

If you want an IG that is not a waste of time and resources in hell you will have to go with an exile made from a pally shield with +45 to resists. This will give you an elemental immune IG with respectable defense, and will enhance the survivability of you and your army.

By the way; why do you want conviction? Are you doing a LoM or a poison nec?
Actually, I am doing an Assumoner with the new runewords. Basically it started as an idea just to max out the number of auras I can have active, and it morphed into a reasonable idea. Basically I want to make a Fire Trapper/Summoner who can summon IG, Valk, Shadow Master with a merc. The merc will have infinity and thus conviction for faster fire trapping, and the other minions will be meat shields, although Im sure that the high level Master will garner a few kills of her own. I wanted meditation from the Iron Golem for faster mana regen and some life regen as well. Insight is a pretty cheap word to make in a polearm, I just was not sure though that it would make a golem. If what Lorven says is true about not transferring between games, it would be difficult to keep a good IG hanging around.

This is true: no IG's for the non-necs. There was a post about this sort of thing under strategy, I think. It was determined that Metalgrid, Bloodmoon and Stone would synergise nicely to give you a decent CG. This might be an option for you.

So I will have to use whatever spare item I have to make IG from game to game? In that case, forget the metalgrid altogether and just use Stone/Death runewords to get a good CG.

Or make an IG out of something common that you won't cry about if you lose it. IK maul or anything with crushing blow is a good choice. Great for boss running. Especially if you have a merc with a Kelpie Snare and decrep etc ... although the attack rate isn't fast but it does a respectable job.

Plus, if you play lots you should be able to find a ton of IK mauls and so forth.

hmmmm.....
Holy Freeze merc using kelpie snare
yourself using kelpie snare
decrep
clay golem
....
AND kelpie snare IG

new winner for slowest baddies ever.

(Sorry this was a little off topic)
