increased stash size, 1.13

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

Okay, I am the only one thinking about? How on earth are they going to fit 12x10 if they're still going with 800x600 resolution? I mean, it isn't possible, there just isn't enough space on screen (if they don't use different squares with stash than with inventory, which would be silly since all the item sizes would have to be scaled also). Really, think about it. It's kind of tight with even the 48 squares stash size, but how they're going to fit 120 squares on the same size??

I'm pretty certain it's possible, even with 640x480 resolution. NPCs have a 10x10 "stash" on each page, and there is plenty of room for another 2 rows and gold in place of the tabs at the top and the buttons at the bottom.

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

Its interesting that it wasn't until a expansion pack that gave us a larger stash and now this patch is doing the same. Could it be said that this patch is a mini expansion? In that statement they said that there maybe be parts that can't be done and would be easily removed. :scratchchin: New easter eggs?

@Jake the Quinceeater: yeah I just went and had a look at that too and that's exactly what I thought however there is absolutely no decoration in those windows - very plain.

I personally strongly think that they'll add much lore and they'll try to tie D2 story with D3. I wouldn't be surprised if they were to add a tiny new act full of lore/silly quests and a minimal amount of real content (items/monsters/RWs etc).

you MUST be joking. there's no way they'll put that much effort into it. with all the hacks, cheats, spamming crap, that's going on and has been going on, you think they'll add content without at least attempting to fix some long standing issues.

wait nvm, you're right, they'll put in stuff to distract us from the crap. hold up a shiny object while reaching around and stealing our wallets so to speak.

Think about it. If it wasn't for D3 to come they'd never really bother with 1.13. Or I'd be a miniscule patch.

We also know that 1.13 will be on a test realm. That automatically means that they are adding lots of content and/or new mechanics that they want to test on a large scale instead of just doing some inhouse testing.

Lots of people that otherwise wouldn't play D2 anymore are back while waiting for D3. Blizzard knows that. Right now D2 is the best advertisment for D3. If HALF the people that still play D2 jump on D3 the moment its launched then it'll be a successful launch for Blizzard.

So with all the excitement and anticipation it would be a perfect opportunity for Blizzard to release a patch that will tie the loose ends between D2 and D3's lore and massively open everyone's appetite for D3 (= even more sales for them when it goes live).

When I say a new act I don't mean something as big as LoD obviously. Imagine something like:

After you kill Baal, Tyrael comes, opens a portal for you, destroys the world crystal thingy and comes to you in that portal. In there he tells you that something is still corrupted (blizzard LOVES corrupted things in their games) and that somehow the three big dudes are still alive in another plane. So he sends you to kill them again (something like Uber Trist). Once you kill them (and loot the new shinies of course) suddenly Tyrael comes and starts attacking you (its a trap zomg!). You fight him and when he's about to die he opens a new portal for him and leaves and taunts you to follow or something. Obv he left for D3.

Something like this wouldn't be hard to accomplish really. They have the models, they have the textures, they have the zones (the setup could be an uber chaos sanc). They'd just have to program the script and some dialogue options.

Call me a daydreamer or an idiot but I think that it would be very easy for Blizz to do the above.

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

Expanded stash is pretty nice, I'm glad they're considering it. However, I'm thinking it will only be a few days before all our characters get full again, and everyone starts complaining about stash space again. Better than nothing I suppose though.

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

that'd open up a lot more rerolling rares options

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

I understand a bigger stash is needed, but still can't get over why they didnt think about multipage stash or simple things like if you want to put a.....lets say a rune into 1 open slot in the stash. Why not divide that single open slot into 4 mini slots to where you can add 4 runes into 1 slot? Mabe I'm thinking about this too much but I doubt it would be a hard thing to implement.

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

They should make us have to pay for the patch.

Kidding, of course. I have no issue with the stash size, but I guess a larger one would be moderately useful.

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

Heh. Why do that when they can make battlenet p2p?
19.99/mo.
Sounds like a good time to me.

Erm no? Warcraft (the RTS game), Diablo and Starcraft, are all primely single player games with optional online capabilities. Not MMOs that are only functional when online.

If Blizzard was somehow dumb enough to make battle.net a subscription based service they'd lose a crapload of potential buyers.

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

Larger stash = carrying even more crap than today :D
Why?
Maybe you should stop picking up crap items.
...sorry, couldn't resist

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

Though it would be possible to do 12x10 in standard 800x600. You're getting confused there, they could easily scale down the whole UI while maintaining 800x600. And of course they could also just remove the whole aesthetic borders around the stash.

See what I mean:

You are right. I was wrong. Got too excited. Even the shop windows are 10x10 so 12x10 is not a real problem.

Too bad. I know enabling bigger resolutions is possible and not so difficult, but I'm not sure if Blizzard just wants to make the effort. Though I'm pretty sure it would get a lot praise and old players back in the game (more permanently than a ladder reset).

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

This is the 21st century. We are not barbarians (well, unless we play them... But even those are cultured barbarians). Every game (well, 'collecting' games anyway) should have an infinite, tab-equipped, shared stash and it should come with a free cup of coffee and an ice cream. This should be coded into legislature; the right to keep stuff is generally considered a basic human right. There should be a place for every weak & infirm staff, crude buckler and cracked sash in this cold, dark world. :jig: :grouphug: :welcome: :flowers:

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

I'm pretty sure I'd cry if that happened. I'd pay for it, and play it, but I'd sob like a little pansy.

Sadly if they charge for D3... I won't play :(

Not because the cash is a problem, just because these fee based games are getting really annoying, and becoming more prevalent.

On the shared stash thingy... I hope D3 has it, I played TQ for a little bit(never got into it like D2) and they eventually put it in, and it seemed to work quite well.

Re: increased stash size, 1.13

Before long pple will be asking for PlugY to be ratified in 1.13

They can always charge a monthly fee for privileges like infinite stash and increased(!) drop rate of items. But nah, item shops (easy poof!) and cd keys (easy ban!) are far more lucrative
