i need help making an orb sorc

hi im wondering how i can make an orb sorc effective enough to do pindle runs?
i am not sure wich stats to max or where the attributes go as i have never played a magic char. (only pallys and barbs before)

also i woold like some input on ur opinion of the effectiveness on this build.

oh! plz keep in mind this is hardcore U.S.EAST

Well if your gonna make a sorc for running pindle blizzard is the way to go. Orb doesnt do enough damage to kill him and if he hits you it will hurt. Javazons or Trappers are great for pindle runs since he never spawns lightning immune but will often cpawn cold immune 1 of 5 times he will spawn cold immune in my experiance.
 
Blizz would be my suggestion also.

Max Blizz and Glacial and use the Glacial a lot as it is a nice crowd control skill as it stops monster in thier tracks.

my Blizz sorc can run pindle with this click sequence:

Enter Red
(3) teleports making sure last one is JUST inside the temple
(2) Glacials
(1) Blizz

If you aim well this will kill all of them!!! If not it may take a glacial and another blizz or just one blizz. A decent merc is a big advantage here.

The key to Pindle for a sorc is not to give any of them a chance to hit you as one hit can be half or more of your life, can stun you and let them hit you again. Frankly this is not a good run for somoene learning to play a sorc as it is hazardous.

The dudes outside are all CI and if you mess around they can spawn and back door you. Pindle can be a very nasty critter, and frankly he drops like crap. I suggest saving this run until you are strong and confident in your sorc play and are beyond the needs of what Meph or Andy can give you.
 
i also cast my vote on blizzard. really, i dont think there's any other choice. think about it: what are the other competing spells?

meteor/fireball-pindle's minions dont die in 1 hit. although fireball stuns some, it cant get them all, and some of them may, and probably will, hit you.

chain lightning-great crowd killer. however, has trouble with pindle himself, and cl is notoriously slow at killing single monsters.

orb-this is probably the worst of the bunch, as it has low damage and doesnt hit them all.

saying this however, sorcs arent the best pindle runners out there. i have to say the best is a trapsin, as you can easily get 1.4k life, and still have around 250-300 mf on (400+ if you're very brave with the weap switch). also, comparing to the next best pindle killer (javazon) aiming with traps is super easy; for a javazon, you have to aim the javs at a certain angle or it doesnt go off (ie sometimes shows the graphic but doesnt do damage).
 
hey thanks for the information, if pindle isnt worth doing then there isnt much use on building a char towards that eh..
can i does anyone know where the new mf hotspot is so i can build a char to compensate its environment? the advice is much appreciated thanks
 
i really, really like my trapsin right now. except for gloams (just because i run around with -50 some res all/mf gear :surprise: ) she can handle most everything. i do mostly eldritch/pindle, around 2k runs now, and she's still alive. right now i'm changing things a bit, going for cows (!!!) and the pits, but i can guarantee you theres almost nothing she cant kill, all while weaing 300 mf and with 1600 life. just remember to wear your lr wand on switch :uhhuh:
 
Well....Pindle is worth running if you are after those things that only he and Baal and a few others can drop, but frankly his drops over a given amount of time flat out suck compared to many other things.

A Blizz sorc is just a Pindle killer either. She can do Meph and Andy easy in Hell, just geting there is most of the battle so i suggest sticking to NM until she is well dressed and of a good lvl.

I have to second the trapsin.......this is the only MF char i've had so far in 1.10.....lost lv 89 trapper to my own stupidity but my current trapper is lv 89, 370% mf and I run eldrich, shenk, pinda, pit, countess, tristrim, and sometimes Andy......pinda has been gracious to me......SS, Trang helm, and 2 shako's in the past week. (all runs done manually too) Only thing that would make my assy better.....is teleport.

with the advice given by you veterans i have chosen to go with the trapper.

right now shes lvl 26 just killed norm D. i dont have much damage from litnin sentry yet but its working

shoould i max shadow master or the synergies to litnin sentry?
 
Get lvl 17+ as that is when she gets cruel claws.

My 96 Trapper is my first character in 1.10 and she established everything I have so i can agree with this choice for sure. She is a tad limited in that the "popular" Meph run is just too long for productivity but she can definetly do many of the Super unique runs that can alose be very productive at times. Council runs arent bad and if you can confine them in the buidling or trapped on thier porch while you safely on the other side then all you have to contend wiht is Hydras. Pretty safe run, quick to get to and 3 Supers in one run!!! They arent going to give you the godlies that some can but its still a good run.

My only regret wiht my sin is I got a Fire skill. Now when I as in early Hell this paid off, but i use it sooooo rarely no that I wish I had not got it. I have actually considered rebuilding as my gear and a more focused build coule double my damage possibly. only problem is how do you just retire a 96 and make new? I wont, but it has crowwed my mind.

i have shock web at lvl 14 and prereqs for shadow master as well as like 4 in litning sentry,

i was wondering what cruel claws are/do and how much dex shoould i have?

my trapsin is now lvl 34 i gambled for a sigs shield and boots, and i got crap claws, and rest of my gear is weak but adds to mana so im good, im gonna take on nm at lvl 40, prolly this weekend thnks"

I'd aim for 79 strength and 79 dex, as those are the stats you need for Bartuc's. You have way too much strength right now. Personally, I'd even start all over just because of the stat misplacement.

Cruel Claws are Claws with 201 to 300 ED, generally with high damage. However, they're pointless for a Trapsin as a Trapsin isn't a melee character. Shop for Claws from Anya that give +skills to Traps, or Assassin Skills. Just pop back and forth through the red portal to Nihlathak's Temple to reset her "shop stock." Dual Tuc's are probably the best thing for a Trapsin.

I'd also wait until around level 45 to 50 to take on NM. Keep doing Baal runs.

I use Orb on Pindle, works quit well. And when you get tired of that you can kill meph easy too.

20 Orb
20 IceBolt
10~15 CM
Telenisis 20
ES 5~10
Shiver armor 1
Warmth 1

Get a Def merc from act 2 hell, But some decent gear on him, you can run pindle in 30 secs max.

Looked fine to me!

how much strenght? If if is only a little dont rebuild as you may want it for a bigger armor. I use +3 traps claws as Tucs work fine but are somewhat a waste on a trapper, and also give less in ways of damage than the trap claws. My Sin has 103 strenght with gear for an Archon Smoke, 55 dex and the rest is Vita.

oops, didnt see this.....95 is a bit higher than needed unless you want it for a specific armor, but having that much at lvl 27 is a darn good way to get yourself killed!

For a trapper your clasw do almost nothing for you but provide +skills, possibly some speed, and or stats. +3 trap claws work great and if you want speed you can socket them and shael them if you want.

My sin is pretty ghetto equpied. IIRC she has:

Archon Smoke
(2) +3 Traps claws
+3 Traps ammy with life regen (how uber)
Rare belt (3) resists in the 15-25 range, rather nice and gambled!
Nats boots
Frosties
Imbued +2 Circlet with resists
Magical Energy Ringe with some resist, I think light
Rare rez ring with some mediocre mods

I have probably 20+ rings better than whe wears but hell she dont need them, and i have two +2 traps ammys with nice priz numbers and more but once again she doesnt need em so I stay with the +3

I could totally re-equip here if I wanted but she smokes now and has little to worry about so why?

BTW, at lvl 80 I found a Viper magi, but at lvl 79 when i beat Baal Hell she wore:

Stealth Breast Plate
+3 claw
(3) Diamond Tower
(3) Saph Helm
rest of the gear is the same as now, but i had some resist charms and now I dont.

Trappers dont need much......pretty cheap build
