There was a forum reset in June 2003 ;) I have been a member of these boards since June 2001, but only a member in the SPF since Jan 2002 or something.

Thank you for the enlightenment. I thought it must have been something like that due to Diablo 2 being around much longer. There is a wonderful spirit within this community and I hope this doesn't dampen it.

My feeling is that FB's disregard for the rules is a stunning insult to the rest of us. Play the way you want on your own computer, as long as it doesn't affect others. That's really a good rule.

That sums it all up for me.

My bad. I took it from the fact that his "Join Date" stated Sep 2003 and the oldest I've seen is Jun 2003 he was a more senior member around here, perhaps my chronological ranking is out. Sorry for any offence.

 np i been lurking on this site since before diablo 2 was released.
After the first spf was created i joined that after a while.
There has been a few spf sinced then, and many members have come and gone.
So my join day and several others from all forums are way wrong.
And so are our post counts but that i see as a good thing:cool:

anyway we hijack this thread.

now i wonder how people here would have reacted if a much newer members would have admitted to duping.
I for one dont think it had been this level headed if that was the case.

If a new member is revealed to be duping he gets banned in an instant. At least from what I have seen.

now that's not fair
if you didnt like him you should've said it way before...not now.

I heartily disagree. If we all went round telling those we didn't think much of what we thought of them then forum harmony would go to ****. Now that FB is leaving it's exactly the right time to tell him what we think of him and wish him well for the future if we so desire.

Exactly my thoughts. I posted that earlier too. Noone would have given that member a new chance.

but why?
this is as if you'd live with your wife for your whole life, have kids, go camping, do laundry for each other, and when you both get 80 and she's dying you go and say: "you stupid fat ugly cheating *****! i never like you at all"
IMO that's not right

edit:
this doesnt meen i agree with what FB did
i dont

Probebly but all i remember have ensured that they are atleast somewhat known by the community before they end up being caught.
Of course those "i want that editor or that one or that" posts dont stay long in my memory. The have happened way to many times for that.
Atleast the flamewars have been down for quite a while. Even through the memory of them still remains in some dark part of the mind. And no im not talking about the atma issue.

until the day i see people post openly about **** and not get banned i think i can take the news that some hacking people are caught from time to time. That dont mean i will like that fact.

Well I believe it comes down to the fact it is really quite easy to ignore annoying little children on the internet. No point calling them out constantly and destroying their fun. While Bob has been irritating and disliked/untrusted by a number of past and present senior forum members there has been no reason to publicly call him out as a cheater/user of illigitimate items, ad definitely not a need to personally insult him.

Most people are mature enough to let the kid have his lollie so to speak. If he's about to take an enforced holiday I suppose it's fair if anyone wants to let him know he wont be universally missed. Since a lot of members seem to think the sun shines out his proverbial. It's a two way street some of you can kiss up to him, it doesn't mean everyone has to.

Just my opinion.

Personally I think that if someone needs to voice their opinion then that is their right. Whoops, getting way to political now! ;) I don't think that someone who has something to say should be silenced because it isn't nice.

Everyone will have their opinion on this and everyone will remember FB one way or another. I think the real issue here is the total lack of disrespect for forum rules and betraying the trust of others here. It isn't a nice thing, but life will go on and Diablo 2 will still load and in some way FB will remain with us. Whether that be good or bad is up to the individual.

My 2 cents worth.

Before this thread locked, and Bob banned forever.

This thread shouldn't become place to say "I never liked you" or "I knew it".

FB will be gone, for sure. The rest of us can live without him. Let's wish him good luck where ever he goes, and SPF goes on.

Edit: dodgydave, that was a bit harsh on phatbrava, he does not agree on what Bob did. I didn't see anyone here does, so we all against Bob on his action.

Well, I must confess I did chuckle at this. However if you're dumb enough to stay with a wife who you consider a "stupid fat ugly cheating *****" till you're 80 you deserve everything you get. Personally I have never considered having FB's children (or heaven forbid, doing his laundry :cheesy: ) though I quite understand if you have. Therefore I have no compunction in letting him know how disappointed I am in him the same as I would anyone in real life who abused a position of trust and have no problem with others who choose to do the same.

So.. two standings here for me, both in your disadvantage bob.

1. Be banned, get out of here and don't come back. No matter who you are, you duped, generated items screwed the game over and then you also held giveaway's MP'd and traded. That is just plain ignorant and not to mention dishonouring to others here. You just held up a big **** you to everyone here.

2. I never hid my standing towards you, you know that and frankly I'm glad to see you go. I think in real life you're not that bad, but here on the forums you just seemed like an attention seeking spammer trying to be cool and elite. Yes you were nice to alot of members, you started up thread to help others out (no wait.. I can't remember the last thread you actually started to help others out..) and many more things... but you allways had a big flashy sign over your head which said ''Hey!! Look at me!!''. I (and with me others) could not prove your illegitness upto this point, besides the smelly buisness which seemed illegit but couldn't be proved, but I'm glad now this has come out.

In a word.. Bye

DnT: Excellent post. Sums everything up very nicely.

Lonewolf: Thank you for pointing out FB is not a forum elder. Heck, I’ve been a member here longer than him, and there were LOTS of others here way before me, including you! A lot of the old timers made this place what it is. FB should never be categorized with them.

To everyone else who thinks FB should be given a second chance or believes he didn’t dupe runes: Shame on you! If he admits to duping a crappy hydra bow, how the hell can you believe he didn’t dupe runes, or anything for that matter?

To those who have received items from FB in giveaways/tourneys: My condolences. Some tough choices need to be made. In the end, it’s your choice what to do with those items, but I know what I would do.

This is a sad day for these forums, and no, it’s not sad because FB is likely to be banned soon. That is the only good thing about this. Good riddance FB!

I think that FBob should be banned, this is a forum of trust, and he took advantadge of all our trust. Plus anyone else caught duping would be banned instantly, also I don't believe him that all his high runes are legit. He seems to be an attention getter, what better way to get attention than by saying you have found a high rune(Besides starting a post like this) He has lost my trust. He should be banned, and this post should be locked.

Thrust isn't hard to gain, all you need is some solid rocket boosters. The Dirty things? what are you refering to hummm. . .oh your talking about hips and thrust. . . oops did I say that out loud. :uhhuh:

If you're caught doing dirty things by the wrong person, you may indeed lose your ability to thrust.

Uhh... I am of course referring to secretly tinkering with the car engine, and... um, certainly not implying something less than innocent... *cough*

Anyway, I don't know what all the arguing is about. If the rules dictate that giving away, trading and MPing with duped or edited items/characters without the knowledge and consent of others involved is sufficient for a ban, then he should be banned (and if the rules say it is insufficient, then he should be allowed to stay). It's that simple. Who he is, how nice he is, how long he's been here and how much he's contributed to the forum is entirely irrelevant (and if it isn't, then my opinion of this forum will take a sharp nosedive). If you don't like the rules, don't ask for an exception to be made; ask for the rules to be changed.

I'm not sure the thread should be locked. It would be amusing to prevent this from turning into some sort of monument to idiocy (or FB's ego- you pick) but this is a pretty visible issue and people should be allowed to have their say.

If it degenerates into spam, or the same people arguing the same points, then lock away, but I think it will die down before too long. For now it is probably best to get it said and move on.

Personally I do believe bob's first post in this thread about runes. Before I found this place I have used such an item pack for similar purposes. Getting items which aren't all that rare anyway
(note: of course I did a full restart when I joined)
However, I do still believe he should be banned for his actions

Farting Bob, you're presence in the bar will be sorely missed.
If by some chance you aren't banned though, I would probably be willing to MP or even trade with you, because I believeyou owuldn't do such things again.

But for now, good bye. I'm afraid to say you've deserved it.

If someone is brand new and on their third day they get caught or admit duping the pretty much all we know about them is that they duped. There is nothing else to base an opinion of them on. We know one thing and it is bad, goodbye.

If someone has 7000 posts (spam or not) we know a helluvalot more about them and so we have other things to base a decision on for whether or not each of us would want to forgive them. So, of course someone who has been around has a better chance of being forgiven for cheating. Some will say we can trust them, the rest will say rules are rules. In the end its Kremtok's and AE's decision and we all know they'll make the right move whichever way they go (or have already gone).
