Holy Shield a buff?

Is it a 30 second buff or an spell?

if so ive seen builds with veng and holy shield maxed out how does this work do they not use auras?

It makes your shield better ,increasing your all over defense in %, and increases Chance To Block.
It works if you wield a shield.

i think you mean "aura" by saying "spell"?
it's a buff (or so), once casted you don't need to select it to your right-skill, you can use your auras, when its duration ended, cast again and select your aura back.

as Rawness said, you can cast it only if you're carrying a shield as your primary setup (not on switch)

u have to activate it by casting it, then let it do its own thing and continue with ur other auras and whatnot. it'll last different times depending on the lvl.

Couple notes on using Holy Shield and prebuffing:
1. Keep +level gear on your switch to cast Holy Shield. If you use say HoZ and a +3 Paladin Skills weapon like Heav's Light, you can add +7 to your Holy Shield level. If you have a level 20 Holy Shield, some plus skills gear and then more plus skill gear on your switch, you can get quite a lengthy high level defense when you cast Holy Shield.
2. You know you have Holy Shield activated when your shield turns to a white cross. There is no aura with Holy Shield but the shield will turn back to normal once the Holy Shield duration is up. Just recast using switch +level gear again.
3. Additional auras like Defiance will increase the defensive effect to godly defense levels (20,000 to 30,000+ defense depending on gear and plus skills).
