High Council Horker :: Help!

Yea, earlier in the thread, I made a WW barb with a -60 break point spear (the Ar..something Needle). The damage wasn't very impressive, but he killed the Council and horked them all the same. The gold was just too minimal as I was doing a lot of runs to actually get the gold up and wasn't enjoying how it worked out. It's just that balance between having the Leech, Resis and GoldFind was such a hassle. Now, with this singer, things run smooth, there's no close calls, and the gold is filled in just 2 to 3 runs, tops.

ya the big problem with melee goldfind builds is where to get leech, the 2nd probem is where to get resistance. if you use the normal items for this build there isnt many places to free to get those mods. using CoT is great for LL then ML can come from an amulet, but most melee bulids need more then that. using blood crafted bloots/belt with greed works if you can make them, but the best way to get the melee builds to work is to have most of the leech come from the weapon. once you find all that stuff then you can play with charms resist/greed or +max/greed.

to make a melee gf char that has super high gf, max resist, good dmg, leech can take a very very long time to finsh. i've been saving items for all my gf chars since before LOD came out. those old pre 1.07 items are the only ones that can get upto 120%gf on them. to make a good setup on Ladder can take some time but to get a godly setup with great charms would be very hard to do in just one ladder season.

Hey ya'll, sorry to dig up an old thread, but I love this guide. However, the only thing that it doesn't mention is the ultimate council killer - Leap. Thats right, max this sucker out and you get a huge radius of knockback. Why do you want this? Cause you can spam it (hold down right click on your char's feet, and he'll start bunny hoppin), and keep the council in stun-lock while your merc hacks away. And the build it super cheap cause you don't need any defense for your merc as all the baddies will be in stun the entire time.

I came up with this idea after making a Leap Attack barb (I know, wtf?) based off the booyaka guide (think there a link to it somewhere around here), and on it, it suggested this spamming of leap to keep enemies in stun lock while doing Baal runs. Just apply this to the council and make sure your merc has a quick killing weapon as the only thing that will slow you down is how fast your merc can kill the council. Afterwards, just hork the corpses.

The only thing limiting about the barb would be his reliance on the merc to get kills. Hence, runs where you gotta run a while (most runs cept pindle) would probably not go so well cause the merc would get creamed while you're galavanting through the level. Anyways, let me know if you try this, cause it works great for my horker.

im wayy to tired to read all these posts to see if my tips have alrdy been given, but i find 800k+ with my barb ever trav/durance run and here's what i use


lem crown of thieves, also gives leech
wealth
4lem monarch
ebotdz for leech
chance guards
rare belt with str/life/64A% gold find
infernostride
2 dwarf
chaos noose, also leech

given that you should have all the leech you need
also, after killing all the trav counsil, or any of the counsil in durance,
i have hoto on switch, switch to hoto and use find item, and 50% chance you should get 50k+ off each dead corpse.

ebotdz + the other gear has all the leech you'll need.
physi immunes die quickly to berserk.

i too enjoy gambling circs so i thought id throw in my two cents

any shield will work for this, it just depends on how much goldfind you want to get and if you want other mods from the shield.

a SS can work just as well as any of the set or runeword shields. for the most gf using a 4 lem shield will give you 200%gf + the block you may want. but using a 2nd weapon (ali or 6lem) will give you the max gold.

use what you can get untill you can upgrade to something else. dont use a lem in the shield unless you've socketed all the other items first.
