Hammerdin can't scratch uber izzy, literally.
IDK about the others, since I just use my zmiter, and don't even try hammerdin against them.
If I were you, I would put one point in smite, and just use your hammerdin, but smite with him instead.
Life tap+smite= uber pwnage

That's a new one...seems like the slowest possible way to farm keys, IMO...

i had the same exact thought process lol...i had to put 1 pt into smite to get to holy shield...i think my smite should be about lvl 13 or somewhere around there being that i max out at 32...im usin a vortex spirit shield...so if i smite at lvl 13 with the spirit that should do a sufficient amount of dmg to be successful against all ubers??? (obviously i might be there a little longer but would i succeed?)

CB is needed, not necessarily high damage. I took the ubers down with a spirit more than a few times. I have a 45 base res sacred rondache, iirc, and I used that until i got a hoz for zmiter. It worked fine...hoz is superior, but spirit can get the job done.

Actualy barbs can gather dest keys almost faster than a sorc. 1pt in leap atack, faster run/walk. I do a Nilathak run with my conc barb in about 2 mins, depending on monsters. Sorcs are however much more efficient in Terror//hate farming.
As for your hammerdin, he can do fine ubers, you dont need to build another one. Check out this guide.

but hammers is rediculously quick for d keys a well...im pretty sure i have the typical build for a hammer

with all that that paladin has a VERY fast cast rate...that said if u know the hop map u can be at hov within 10 seconds then its just a matter of picking the 1 of 4 where nih is then just tele into the middle and spam hammers...full nih run done in what...1 minute 2 at most? thats the way i see it at least

For key runs my zealer with 1pt smite, natures peace, and enigma is faster than anything else I have done the runs with. If it takes me longer than a minute something went wrong. You can tele in the middle and just smite down nik or zeal the room down in almost no time and with max resists and 28k def nothing in there hurts.
But back to the OP if you are rich just get a exile sheild and goblin toe(?the 25% cb boots) and you can put them down in a hurry. Also I have done it with a 4s elite pally shield with 40+ to resists socketed with p diamonds(121 to all resists is nice) but you will need a way to cast life tap like a wand and then drac's gloves to keep it up. The shield damage doesn't need to be that high you could use a buckler and CB will still take the bosses down, the real difference seems to be once they get below 10%hp and the CB isn't doing much damage, even then though holy shield is still giving you something like 50-80 damage so they would die at some point. My current setup is +396 grief/exile/LoH/enigma, it's an awsome combo. I use a shako and war trav for mf suff like 8 player meph so without the CB it takes about 20 seconds to put em down but with gil's face and toe it goes twice as fast.

Any character can do destruction key runs ridiculously fast. The fastest occurs with teleport. In my experience the quickest is a trapper.
Tele in, lay down death sentry's and the group drops. No lag = considerably less than 1 minute runs.
I've done key runs with a variety of characters too: Java, Singer, Smiter/Zealer, Hammerdin, Summoner, Bowazon (of all types), Concentrate Barb, Hybrid Sorc, Blizz Sorc, Light sorc, and Windy.

i started ladder late though and didn't have much problems, however i didnt' really start from nothing as i traded nl stuff for ladder.
basically sorcs can keyrun fast if u just start due to tele ability and enigma being a bit on the expensive side.
at least smiters can do uber cheaply though.

the only time i use my hammerdin is on duriel (freeze doesnt effect cast, but does effect ias and u cant block his cold aura with CBF). on the others i use zealot.
