Hammerdin for rent on East Ladder

As those of you on East Ladder know, I recently quit playing D2. I held a massive giveaway game and dropped 17 characters worth of stuff (10 mules and 7 playing characters). But, I couldn't bring myself to giveaway my best, and most fun character, my Hammerdin. I thought that I might just need a few weeks off, but I logged in again last night and the thought of playing again didn't bring me any warm fuzzy feelings, so I guess I might be truly done.

However, that still leaves me with a level 92 hammerdin standing around harassing the rogues and making passes at Charsi. What to do?

Then, I remembered a thread started by Kiba (I think) towards the end of the last ladder season where he offered up the use of his hammerdin to other forum members. What the heck, I can do that too!

So, if you're interested in trying a hammerdin, reply and let me know why you want to use him.
Maybe you've never had a hammerdin and want to see what the fuss is all about.
Maybe you need help leveling your buddies and want to host some baal runs.
Maybe you want to give East ladder a try, and play with some other forumers that reside out East.
Maybe you need a spinner in an uberleveling game but don't have a hammerdin of your own.
Whatever the reason, let me know why you want to use him.

Merc is an act 2 defiance merc, wearing Ebugged Stone, Ral'd Andy's, and an Insight Scythe.

The Rules!
DO NOT USE THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS or anything else that may jepordize my account. I don't care if you've used them on your account for years and never had a problem, don't do it on my account.
DO NOT take any equipment off the character, off the merc, or out of the stash. You're trying him out as is, do not take something and try it on one of your characters.
DO NOT commit acts of stupidity in my name. Recognize that I worked hard to achieve what I did with that account and character, please don't ruin anything for me in the future if I should decide to come back.
DO NOT delete any other characters on the account. Sure, they're all naked, but I don't know if the urge to play may strike me again. Feel free to use them as mules as long as you use the account, if it's convenient for you. Anything left on the characters after your 24 hour use period is up becomes my 'property', such as it is.
DO Post the word "weirdo" in your message to let me know you actually read the rules.
DO have fun.
DO find good things.
DO help others.
DO NOT do anything with my character or account that you wouldn't do with yours.

It is within my sole discretion to choose who I allow to use this account and character. I will PM the person I choose with the login information. That person then has 24 hours from the time of my PM to use the character to play however they want within the above rules. I can change or terminate this offer at any time for any reason without prior notice.

But Bob, it says 'rent' in the title, what do you mean by that?

Glad you asked. My favorite thing about D2 is this community and helping others. I would like very much to continue to do as much as I can, even though I cannot dedicate myself to playing. Therefore, I would ask that you 'pay' the 'rental' of this character by finding a piece of equipment or two in your stashes, or with the character, that could be useful to a new player. It doesn't have to be godly, but it should have some value. A desirable unique or set item, a rune, a handful of pgems, something. I'll leave it up to the individual to decide what's fair, but I would hope that an item worth Lem - Pul at a minimum, per use, would be 'paid'. If you can't afford that, fine, 'pay' what you can. If you're rich and just wanna mess around with a hammerdin, please be more generous. Leave all 'payments' on the character, I'll mule them off when I login to change the password before the next rental.

If you have any question or want to 'rent' the character, read the rules again, then post a message below.

I hope you enjoy him as much as I did.

I'll like to try it out:) I always wanted to try out a hammerdin but never had the chance to because I can't afford to:( Id like to use him to just MF, maybe even do some baal runs as you said

I DO NOT play on EScL, but would like to try it out (though I do not intend to change realms).
I DO play on EUScL and EUHcL.
I DO like to play hammers and have a couple high level ones myself.
I DO need a PM, if I should win a day with your weirdo hammer.
I DO plan on leaving any findings (of value) on the char.
I DO NOT plan to play more than a few runs, but mostly talk with the people on East.

Hello, i am interested in using your hammerdin, i once made a hammerdin earlier in the ladder but i scrwed him up big time...i didnt max concentration :( so i never got to use him lol and ive always been to lazy to remake him. I would just like to do a few baal and chaos runs to see how fun they are. Thanks.
 
I have a hammerdin, but he sucks compared to most, so I'd like to rush people with this, all proceeds from the rushes would be used to pay =].
 
Great idea, Warrior Bob. I have never played on ladder before and have always been interested in playing it but the idea of starting from scratch again is too overwhelming for me. Also, I have some non ladder friends who have moved to the other side and I would help them out with a rush or something. As I said, I play nl, so I have no wealth at all, but all I find would remain on this character. Also, I have just gubered my HDin and have not distributed the stats, so playing a complete one would be great experience as I have never played one. BTW, only a weirdo would do something as nice as this, kudos, and thanks.

P.S. ...you'll be back, they always come back...
 
Hehe! At least one person fully read the rules. :) Very cool concept, if a tad on the "weirdo" side. Unfortunately, I've already got a lvl 92 spinner, so I'm not going to take part in the fun :(
 
I would not mind renting out this hammerdin, thanks for the offer btw! I have never seemed to play a hammerdin on Diablo...I have made almost every kind of char imagineable (not necessarily with the best gear!), but have never made a Hammerdin because I never thought I could afford the gear to compete with the best of them! I love the fact that he has teleport since sorc's are my fav. char, and I already play on USEast which would make it easy for me to pay the "rental fee". I would really appreciate the opportunity to play with a char that sounds as godly as this in an area that I have always been curious about, but have never just come out and done it! I think this is a great opp. and would appreciate the chance to pwn the hell outta some baal runs and do Chaos runs (which i hear are the tops, but never make chars that can survive!) This sounds like a lot of fun and I would be very happy to give him a whirl around the world of D2 with what is considered the best chars in the game!

p.s. I once got into a fight with someone who said they could rush faster with their pally than I could with my sorc! (I got laughed at when I said i dont use MH to rush and he did, and yet I still claimed I could be faster! haha) so I would love to see what he was talking about with the speed and ownage of a paladin!

Oooh! I'd like to do this :D! I'm such a freaking weirdo (haha) that I make 203943209843208432 billion charachters and never gear them out, which makes me quickly bored. I'd like to fully gear out a charachter of my own and since the hammerdin seems to be the favorite of many, I'd like to see if he was worth actually taking the time to gear out and level :D PS: Neat idea!
 
i dont play on east, but id like to rent your hammerdin
ill be sure to leave whatever i find from pits/meph/countess/trav ect. in his stash

call me a wierdo, but i havent made one (since there the only bnet approved char)

oh ya, is it ok if we lose masses of gold or exp on him?
 
Glad to see there is some interest in this. I've already PM'd the first renter with the login. A couple things I'd like to clarify and respond to:

1) Please resurrect the merc, if necessary, prior to returning the character. I understand there will be a lot of deaths of the character and the merc, so exp loss and gold loss is not an issue, but I'd hate to rent him out to someone w/o the merc available and no funds to resurrect him.

2) It's not my idea, per se. I'm not the first one to do this, but thanks anyway :grin:

3) Post count is not as important as post content. I intentionally did not set a post count minimum. I'd like to hope that everyone around this community is trustworthy enough to not rob me blind, even if you're new or not as vocal as others. I was a lurker here for many months before I registered and posted, you might be a lurker too. If you're interested in renting him, if I don't already know you I'll review your posts for content. If you seem reasonable and trustworthy, I'll rent him to you.
 
Well, i've always wanted to play a really nice hammerdin. I had one before I took a break a few years back, but it didn't have any nice gear. I took a break from the game for 3 years and I just started up again in October. I'm currently playing a zealer character on uswest nl sc, but i would always enjoy a hammerdin to play on useast. No other reason besides i've been dieing to play one for years, but never could afford the gear which makes it fun :D
I'm not a wierdo either, the account will stay exactly the same.
 
I'd like to give him a whirl or two, since I've never held my hand on one of those fabled weirdo Nigma's. I just want to see it's raw power for a couple of hours, maybe just one. I'm almost HC Europe only now so, I'll leave the items of worth on your acc.

Thanks to everyone that has had the chance to play this character. I've collected about a stash worth of gear, various oddities found with the character. If it keeps up, I should be able to giveaway a moderately geared player, I'll need a bit more before I figure out what character would benefit most from the gear, then I may or may not do some trades to finalize the gear.

If anyone is interested in playing, read the rules above and post a reply. As previously stated, post content is more important than post count, so even if you're new post below and you'll probably get a chance.
