Guide: WS K Amazon

Also consider getting some gear with poison length reduction on it. Often that's more valuable than poison resistance itself.

Doesn't poison res get applied to both damage and duration?

I think Poison Resistance is applied to poison rate (damage per frame) and Poison Lenght Reduction is applied to poison lenght (duh!).

If you have 25% poison resistance and 25% poison lenght reduction, you have (1-0,25)*(1-0,25)=0,56=56% poison damage reduction. I think i read this in Tao of Poison (1.09) so i don't know if it's still valid in 1.10/1.11...

Did some searching, and it seems I was mixing things up. Player poison resistance/length reduction indeed seems to be as straightforward as it looks.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Hi,
im currently level 86 but theres no way i can handle ws k easly.I have about 60 fire and light res, cold and poison are 20.Black souls kill me in 2 secs and my merc dies very often too.Im not very rich so i cant afford good items.Currently i use:
Rare tiara +2ama skills,17lr+ort rune
Skullders with um
Titans
Rhyme shield
Razortail
rare boots,rings,gloves+2javelin skills, and amu with some resists.
I think i need maras to get good resists?
My hp is about 900 and block is 75%.
Good thing is i can clean pits very fast.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Switch out the Razortail for a Thundergod's Vigor, and put on a few extra lightning resistance charms. With LR maxed out, and with the lightning absorb, you'll mostly laugh at gloams. Your pierce will suffer, but you can fix that with skill points.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Hello muthu,
don't be afraid, your items are pretty good already  You can certainly improve the details (namely rares, charms), as you play more, but that's not a big deal. The only problem atm are the resistances (except for fire, which is ok). Since you use bow against gloams, you cannot rely on your shield, which otherwise carries a huge portion of resists for javazons. You must either use another armor, which can take you a long way, or have at least a small amount on every other part of the gear. The ultimate MF solution for this build is the Tal's plate - I'm sure you would have already used it if you had one (it took me quite long to get my first as well :azn:).

Very good source of resists are rare boots, which can have up to 3 resists <=40%. Gloves have much more "junk" affixes, plus you probably wish to have +2 to a skill tree on them - that makes good gloves extremely rare. Rings with single resists have greater potential than shimmering prefix (res all) gives. The last remaining option are the charms, but those usually come with questing rather than MFing, but of course identify all charms you come across..

For the time being, I'd put aside Skullder's, despite the huge amount of MF it provides, and use whichever armor with good resists ('Smoke', 30%+ Skin of the Vipermagi,..) until you obtain better boots/gloves ring etc. Unless you have serious mana-issues, take one column of antidotes for the WSK - they are extremely useful.

With 60% LR, Souls still hurt a lot, esp. any enchanted bosspacks (not to mention Conviction bosses). Restrain from shooting until your merc approaches them, so you don't get hit by any random bolts.

Also, leave the pits for other builds, it's a waste of an amazon :hide:

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

For Black Souls, you should be able to easily dodge most of their attacks and shoot a few arrows between their volleys. By dodge I mean actually move your amazon, not dodge via the skill. Just strafe (move perpendicular to them, is the term, I think) and they will miss you since they always shoot at where you are, and not where you're going to be. Takes a bit of practice, but you can easily pull it off after a few tries. Even with 0% LR you should still be able to clear the WS K safely if you get the hang of it.

Tbh most of the time I just tank it, though. Drink some reds and I'm usually fine.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Things are better now after i got shako,i um'ed it and now i dont have mana problems.I switched razortail for ik belt, that gives me max fire and light resist.
Oh and im using Witchwild String bow,so it helps me with resists.
So im doing quite good :)

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

WWS is a great bow, but missing +6 to skills from the recommended Melody will definitely impact your damage. Are you still killing Black Souls and other LIs quickly?

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

I haven't quite read through all of the pages of discussion yet, so I apologize if it's already been answered, but I have a question... (also don't know why I've never read this guide before now...)

For bows:
Are the +2/+6 extra skills that much better than using Lycander's/Wizendraw?
The extra mods or -ECR both seem pretty good...

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Well, +6 skills is +6 skills. It just depends on what you trade for it. No item is essential for this build. Well, arrows are kinda essential, but that's really it.

That I only list one item doesnt mean it's the only one. I guess I thought that was obvious. The main reason I highlighted melody is because it really fits the build like a glove, is hella cheap and often overlooked since the 1.10 patch. Even high end runewords have a hard time beating this bargain item for this particular build. Even if you dont get that perfect +3 matriarchal bow, you can still get a decent bow real easy and always make another one later, after all, it is just one Ko rune... That's truly nothing.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Great Guide. Informative and to the point. One thing's been bugging me tho. What do u do against dual immunes? Do u just trim away the minions and let your merc handle it or do u have another method (run?)

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Well, LI/CI is a pretty rare immunity, I don't recall it ever being a problem... I'm pretty sure my merc can handle the occasional boss that is dual immune. I certainly don't run from anything. The mere thought of it... ;D

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Well, sometimes you get unlucky and roll a few of the same immunes a couple times in a row, but normally there shouldn't be any problems running any area in the game with this build. Two elements are pretty much the norm for runners. I rarely made one with more than that. Well, to be exact the merc might be counted as a 3rd element on a lot of them so this one actually has 3 types of attack already.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

The way I see it, your two elements can take out non boss enemies, and your merc should be able to take a boss 1v1. If you get a cluster of units with more than 1 CI/LI boss, dang that's unlucky. You might need to take tanking duties to take one boss out of it while your merc melees the other.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

1 pt in jab can do a decent amount of physical damage if you don't mind going melee. If you go that route, you might want to consider upgrading your titans for better damage.
