Guide: WS K Amazon

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Well, according to AS, stag/ashwood doesn't have the same base speed, it's [0] instead of [-10]. THAT won't be much faster than a Wizendraw... it would only really be faster with non-bow IAS of 45%, or 85-105%. So a stag bow could make sense if you planned to really get a lot of IAS for your titans to hit the 90% breakpoint with LF...

On second look, the 187 dex requirement of Mat Bow is quite prohibitive. That's a lot of freaking points... especially if you are using Stormshield too?? Maybe I'm changing my mind about it.

Yeah 187 is a lot, but if you're going for max blocking you'll be around there anyway no? For a 72% blocking shield (e.g. Stormshield) you need 182 points in dex for 75% block at level 80. Though obviously it would be a bit less if you Eld it, or alternatively you could Hel it or use a Jewel of Freedom with a nice second mod. No point in using a PDiamond I don't think since you can't use your shield for resists, or at least not lightning resist anyway. The main problem with the 187 dex requirement is that it's a bit tough to meet it early on, but since you don't strictly need FA until Hell anyway there's no rush to be able to equip the bow. I think I equipped mine around the middle of Nightmare.

The biggest problem with using the Mat bow for me is it ruled out Whitstan's, since there's no point in saving all that dex if you have to spend it anyway to equip the bow. I just ended up going with Rhyme in a Tower Shield, since it has nice mods but nothing I can't live without when I'm using my bow switch.

Good points all around. Now I'm back to undecided. :smug: Actually I usually plan my characters around L90, and at L90 you will need 203 dex for max block on a 72% shield. Titans gives 20 dex, so you'd need 183 from other items/stats. Since Mat Bow takes 187 Dex, that seems to work out well. How about a good -15% Req jewel in the stormshield? That would save 23 stat points, would only need 113 Str before the +20 from Titans. However, an IAS jewel or lightning facet would be nicer...

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Mine has Mat bow and Storm shield. Works well for me.
Code:
Melody
Matriarchal Bow
'ShaelKoNef'
Two-Hand Damage: 30 to 70
(Amazon Only)
Required Dexterity: 187
Required Strength: 87
Required Level: 39
Bow Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 81
Fingerprint: 0x65f97b86
+10 to Dexterity
+50% Enhanced Damage
Knockback
20% Increased Attack Speed
+3 to Slow Missiles (Amazon Only)
+3 to Dodge (Amazon Only)
+3 to Critical Strike (Amazon Only)
300% Damage to Undead
+3 to Bow and Crossbow Skills (Amazon Only)
+3 to Bow and Crossbow Skills (Amazon Only)
Socketed (3: 3 used)

I don't worry too much about resists on the bow side; charms work. I could swap the War Travs for resists/MF boots if I wanted. Rings I use Natures peace and manald. Can't remember why but I do like the NP. I've used it on a couple of chars.

Hmm, I imagine LR would be the primary concern due to the souls you'd be shooting with the bow... you also lose the DR from the Stormshield when you face the souls, which sucks a lot...

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

I should have said: I don't worry too much about resists on the bow side from the shield. It's covered from chams/other gear; although yes, I could improve via the boots if I wanted. I don't, I'm lazy. :)

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Hey, i'm new here. I recently got an ETitan Revenge , i was thinking aw crap i must drill a zod in there to use it but then i thought, Javalins have no durability!

So does that mean i can keep using it forever and wait for it to replenish when it runs out? (however quick that happens)

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Welcome! :)

You can't repair an eth titan's which means you have to wait until it replenishes to use it.

This can be annoying if you fire off LF like I do.

Also, FYI you cannot socket javelins.

@Nightfish

I'm sure you've heard this too many times but..... great guide!

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

I think so too, but is there a recommended skill progression for this build? because all the skills are crucial for specific cases

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

@deekay:
Certainly start with 1pt in Critical Strike, then Jab. Due to the level limitations, the progress is pretty straightforward. Put a few pts in Cold Arrow early on, then proceed with CS from lvl18 onward, switch to LF at clvl30, getting 1pt FA for sake of crowd control and pour any saved-up points into CS. Once LF is maxed out, proceed with FA.

You'll be meeting first LIs by the end of Nightmare difficulty, thus it makes sense to have your backup ready by then. The third lightning skills comes as the last.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

I just go 1 in prereqs, then everything into charged strike, and LF when it becomes available. Once those are maxed I work on freezing arrow and then cold arrow. After the build is done I like to put the rest of the points into lightning strike.

Many peolpe use gear stuffed full with envy jewels. I like to either equip an axe of fetchmar(spelling?), and later a goreshovel, or some armor with +max damage jewels. At 18 twink on tarnhelm, eye of etlitch(or enough angelic set parts to get +1skill from the ammy), a maiden jav(with as many skills as possible).

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

I've just entered nightmare with this build. lvl 50-ish, both LF and CS near max (1 or 2 more levels)
on players 1 CS kills every unit in 1 shot.
I put 3 tir runes (+2 to mana after each kill) in a maiden javelin (+1skills) giving me +6mana after each kill, resulting in permanent free mana.
LF is used for very big packs (10ish or more), then back to CS
I have a +1skills pilum and sigon's shield on swap for boss killing (much faster attack then with the maiden pike)

I find early game the +skills aren't important and it's better to get some+mana or +AR, since else you'll have to chug down manapots constantly. Just use normal attack to get through most of the game. (any low unique weapon will do)

I'm now running countess for some sols (lore+insight), after which the maiden pike will be stashed and replaced by a bow for FA, though atm there's only 2 points in it.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

I like your advice about Tir-runes, but I`m pretty sure you don`t have 3 of them in a Javelin as they can`t have sockets.

edit: He sure did, my brain was turned off when I read the rest of his post:)

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

yep, maiden pike it is :)
but i just found a wall of the eyeless, giving me +5mana after kill, which is enough (this is my first char), so i'm using the javalin now.

edit: still no sol after about 30 runs (wild guess) :(
I found a Dol, a thul and an amn though...

edit: second dol

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

I did my Amazon as described in this really excellent guide.

After having played a long time only with Pierce and Decoy in the passive tree, aware of the trouble, that D/A/E might cause, I decided to test it myself and put my spare points in Valkyrie and D/A/E.

In my opinion, the benefits of a (in my case lvl12 with +skills) Valkyrie and even the benefits of D/A/E outweigh by far the animation issues. The Valkyrie helps a lot against the lighning spirits and with distracting enemy fire and is an excellent tank together with my defiance merc, especially in the WSK.

I don't have problems with the gloams (edit: dolls), as they usually die in a LF before they reach me. This might be the only case where the dodge animation could be an issue, however I never died to it.

While this matter is certainly up to personal preference, I am feeling much better with D/A/E and Valkyrie.

Greetings.

edit: @Pijus; I meant dolls, translation error.

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Gloams don't die to LF unless you have Infinity and Griffons eye/facets. They're immune to lightning.

However, on my strafer I liked valkyrie, because strafe can't kill fast enough to keep me safe. With a fishyzon I put points into synergies to make killing Baal(and CSing lone CI enemies) faster, because she CAN kill fast enough to keep me safe :)

Re: Guide: WS K Amazon

Hello,

I have a question: Can we use charge strike with a javelot equiped? the french tooltip say yes, but the arreat summit say no.
If we can't this meant that we need 3 different weapons for this build, which looks anoying.
