He's nothing special at the moment. In fact the only final(ish) items he has on him is the Scythe and a +3 Summon Amulet. His armour greyish white.

I have Natalya's Helm which is black and good choice if I can't find a good white one.

Arcanna's Armour is indeed black (if a little poor). Can anyone confirm if it's full armour and doesn't reveal the Necro's poor fashion sense?

There is a german site famous for its weapon speed calculator which have pages showing the look of every armor in every char, I don't know if it's ok to post a link here.
basically you'll have to look for Quilted, Leather or Heavy Leather Armor; or Breast Plate types

Some quick experimentation (wasting two socket quests and 3 skulls) resulted in the this:

The white shoulderpads on the Necro are really irritating.
Sticking a skull in magic armour doesn't make it change colour.
The Breast plate and Leather armour types work best (Hard Leather included).

Is the Black Hades armour actually black? Or is it grey and does it have that horrible red bit at the back?
 
Black Hades is grey white (no color).

There are several good-looking options for you

Black / Grey
-Armor: Corpsemourn / Steel Carapace
-Helm: Upgraded Howltusk / Veil of Steel / Giant Skull / Steel Shade

Grey White (normal)
-Armor: Any runeword armor or Black Hades
-Helm: Any runeword helm or Guillame's Face
Grey White looks nice paired with Black.

Gold
-Armor: Trang-Ours
-Helm: Rare helm or Perfect topaz as first Gem in three socketed Helm. A Gold Great Helm paired with Trang's looks awesome.

Gold/Black
-Just mix and match above

Red
-Armor: Rare Red Boneweave, Shadow Plate or Sacred Armor, or use a P Ruby as first gem.
-Helm: Rare red helm or P Ruby as first Gem in a three socketed Helm.

Red/Black
-Just mix and match above

Red/Gold
-Firey!

Purple would probably look nice too especially if you can put a P Amethyst in Armor. Blue and Green probably won't look too good, except the green Unique bone helm. Black helm on blue armor might look nice, but it is unlikely to find Tyrael's might.

For helms, Circlets, Helms/Casques/Armets, Bone Helms, and Great Helms look best. My favorite is Great Helms or Circlets, although Armets look nice too.

For Armor, Archon Plate, Boneweave, Gothic Plate, Hellforge Plate, Full Plate, and Ancient Armor varients look best. The best-looking is Full Plate or Ancient Armor.

If I get really desperate for black armour, I will just stick a Flawless Skull into some Elite Hard Leather armour or Breastplate. However if someone does find some truly black armour please let me know.

As for a helm, well I do have Natalya's helm and I do have a white skull helm too.


I've also decided to max Skele Mage, simply for the look of having loads of skeles around and so my marrowalk's have some use. Besides, Magi aren't totally useless.

Anyway, can anyone tell me what colour the Rockfleece is on a Necro?

I would also be grateful if someone said what Corpsemourn looks like on a Necro (does it have that horrible red cloth at the back or does it turn it black?). Corpsemourn is viable if I stick a Hel rune in it and grab a couple of +strength charms.
 
If I remember correctly, Silks of the Victor is black but it may have some blue accents. Also, if you haven't found out yet, any rune word armor will be just the plain color.
 
On an interesting note, I've discovered that Natalya's helm isn't as black as I expected it to be.

I'm wondering however, would it be worth using the Lore runeword in a socketed Bone Helm and then for me to boost my lacking resistances by socketing my armour with something and grabbing some charms and rings?
Or should I stick to Natalya's helm for the useful +20 all res?

I'm also thinking about the lack of resistances he's got. He's got a severe lack of Poison and Lightning resistances in Hell mode and the Cold is only just in the postives (Fire is just below 0).

So, I've been thinking it might be better to get the Immortal King Belt instead of the Trang-Oul Belt as the IK gives a nice boost to Fire and Lightning Resistances.

I could also replace my +3 Summon Amulet with Mara's to boost my resistances, but the Mara amulet is so god damn expensive.

I also need to get him a Necro Torch as that will give a nice boost to his resistances and skills.


Oh there's so much to do...
 
I personally think White looks much better then black. Consider the delirium runeword in a white skull if that's not out of your reach.
 
Lem and Ist... that's pushing it. I may be able to get that later on, but for now I think I'll settle with either Lore or Natalya's Helm.

On a side note, using a Scythe makes it pretty easy to get those first kills in Act 1 Hell.
 
Well, the main look of the character is complete. His armour is as black as it gets and he has a bone white helm complete with the useful Lore Runeword.
His skeles hold up fine at the moment in Act 2 and I expect they will continue to do so. Although I have neglected to put a point into Dim Vision, and archers have a slight tendancy to target me over my 22 minions. Irritating bastards.

Also, my merc keeps getting himself killed. I cannot work out how. He has loads more health than my skeles and nearly as much as my Golem and none of them die as much as he does. His resistances aren't much worse either.

However my resistances are shocking. I really need something to boost them. None of them are very high and my Poison resistances is awful. Poison is something this character really fears (after ranged attackers and Possed).
 
that is a very cool looking necro :)

shields give xlent res, but with using a 2 hander you dont have that option.

mara, torch and anni will greatly help res, but as mentioned are expensive?

Is your weapon socketed? try a res all jewel in that to help.

Gc's can have upto 30 single res, a few of them can be cheap and really make a difference.

No idea. I will eventually get a torch for this man, but at the moment I'm focusing on getting better clothes. An all res jewel into my unique scythe is a possibility. However I could also socket my armour with a rune and grab a belt that offers better resistances.

I'll have to have a look at what I can get in terms of belts.



 
You mentioned a solid black armor? Try rockfleece, normal unique field plate. I have it on a paladin and it's solid black. Too bad the armor isn't very good.

I never found Corpsemourn, is your guy wearing it?
