Glacial Spike or Frozen Orb?

I have a single player pure blizzard sorc and I have both ice bolt and ice blast maxed. Blizzards final synergy is glacial spike, but I was wondering if I would be better off maxing Frozen Orb? Blizzard is great, but sometimes i find myself in situations where I would really prefer to have a direct damage spell, and since ice bolt is a synergy for FO, I figured that FO might be a good direct damage spell. Any thoughts on this?

Glacial spike, no question. It is surprisingly powerful if fully maxed and has no delay like orb.

Also it freezes monsters dead, unlike orb which will only slow them.

I'm a total frozen orb whore. It doesn't need to be synergized to be extremely effective, saving points for other skills. It may only slow monsters, but it hits almost everything on the screen if aimed correctly.

Edit: Oh, you already put points into synergies? Alright then, I'm not sure where you should go with it. At this point it may be better to stick with spike.
