From nothing to Powerful in 3 weeks.

sorry mathil maybe i wasnt clear. I began the game for the first time ever and had that setup after 3 weeks then my char was hacked and all stuff taken. I started again and within 3 weeks had all the stuff back.
so from a beginner, it was 6 wks playing 4-6 hrs a day.

you say from scratch, but that is only equip-wise. knowledge is valuable.

everything i said wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at the ppl that were saying its easy to get godly equip quickly. (if you meant or thought this, then, well, your included.) there are some kinds of ignorance that are just frustrating.

Mathil you SEEM to still do not understand what I am trying to convey. Let me re-iterate:

I start game from complete scratch (never played diablo in any form before ever)

3 weeks later I have good items (I consider very good but thats arguable)

My character is deleted (by me after all my items where stolen)

3 weeks later from scracth (this time with extra knowledge of how to play and avoid some mistakes) I have good items again........

SO FROM COMPLETE BEGINNER IT TAKES 3 WEEKS
AND FROM NEAR BEGINNER IT TAKES 3 WEEKS.

You did quote me so i thought you aimed it at me.....

Hope that is clear enough now.....

I just started ladder for the first time about a week and a half ago. I have full tal's/ss/frosties/gheeds/etc now.

I would say the easiest way to get stuff so quickly is simply to trade. I had absolutely nothing, then found a gris helm. I turned that into a shako and that shako got me a tal's armor. From there, it was all downhill.

what kind of idiot you find who traded a tal's armor for a shako?

i wish to meet these people

A guy I play with GAVE away a tals armour because some newbe gave him silks for free. So in return he brought the guy into our priv game and gave him tals for being so cool.

well that's a gift from a kind soul, not a trade. Two different things

sorc4ever, what REALLY happened. Please don't lie to us and say "i got hacked and lost it all".

How could that even happen? Isn't it ironic with the millions of people i've pissed off on d2...it's never once happened? Please tell us what really happens, or how you get "hacked"

Unless of course, you fell for a stupid scam and are covering up the fact..

I am not entirely sure - I simply logged in and all my gear was missing from my main char - I can only assume somone got into may account and muled of my good items. They where pretty picky and left what I would consider good items (eg reapers toll on my merc). I personally found some of the missing items so its not a case of dupes going poof.

I have never used a 3rd party proggy or given my account details on. to anyone even friends. I never asked for assistance (replace my items) or anything and I would not accept freebies either for that matter.

I have registered on this forum with my same account/pass to the game so that is the only thing I can think off (I dont suspect anyone here or admins) - ie a hacker can somehow hack into the db for this forum to collect the account/passwords.

Or maybe they did a brute password hack on my account (I contacted blizzard warning of this after I as hacked - I told them that it would be possible to brute force a password easily and they said they have measures in place to stop that.....)

I have no other idea as ive never given my account details except to this forum (with hindsight very dumb but its a respectable forum so I never gave it a thought). I have avoided all other scams pretty well by reading the info on this forum.

I was bitter for about 3 days but restarted and realised the fun in this game is building up the characters not so much using your finished product (that is easy after all)

in jan or feb there was a way to get into accounts by using the email recovery system. i had my account invaded that way (oh no! my shael!). they should have waited longer. at that time, nobody had anything good.

Well, my younger brother started a new char, and thought to himself, I need some good beginner gear, and traded away Jade Talon for full sigon's set. I asked him, why he could possibly be that stupid, and he said..."I thought Jade Talon sucked. Isn't Bartuc's better?" Surprisingly enough, he's been scammed a lot more times, and accidentally sold his Annihilus charm to Charsi, but yet, still manage to have better items than I could hope for. Thing is, he spends most of his time trading so I guess that's where the usual wealth comes from.

Now my sorc is pretty much maxed after two weeks of play. I got a SOJ last night for a +1 barb Gc and a Lum rune.

Getting items from trading is very easy. Sometimes it just takes a little patience. I play hardball when trading until I have at least ONE fully stocked character, then I will being to trade items value for value. Until then, I cannot afford to do so.

I haven't dne too much trading, but it took me about a month (while I was testing my build) to MF pretty much all of my gear. I traded for a few items (Tal Armor, Ammy), but essentially I mfed it.

The main reason I see some as saying that they have a hard tiime building their chars from scratch, and that they can;t find anything decent is that they;
a) Lack the necessary knowledge of the game and how to make it work for them.

b) Don't take the time to really study the game beforehand (read the manual, strategy guide, visit WEB sites) They just strap on a character and yell yee haw.

c) Don't have the patience to work the game (get rushed instead of questing) and thus lose out on the natural drops that occur when fully questing the game, and don;t develop the necessary battle skills for their style of play. The latter leads to frustration, ineffective or slow MF runs, and thus frustration with "Not finding anything good".

d) They hear about the experienced and skilled players finding great stuff frequently, and build up their expectations. When these are not immedeately reliazed (usually due to al of teh above) they develop a defeatist attitude and thus the reduce teh amount of time the spend on FM runs/trading, etc..

e) All of the above.

Just my two cents
