frenzy uber barb - crap gear

I just started playing.

would it be a bad idea to start a frenzy uberer if i have crap gear?

or would it be safer to just build a kicksin

i really like frenzy barb, but it seems like i am going to need some pretty nice weapons to survive.

I was thinking either a smiter, kicksin, or frenzybarb, but last time i played i did a smiter.
Smiter was easy and i had really crappy gear. I just wanted to try something different.

any advice?

I recommending starting with an Amazon. Even with crap gear she can dominate.

If barbarian, start with the most boring character in the game: The concentration barb.

i didnt mean first character. I meant first uberer.

im probably just going to go with a kicksin. she seems the least gear dependable uber character right after the smiter.

Well I've started my (hopefully) UT frenzier and the gear drive is going quite well. I have Dracul's, Arreat's, Ravenfrost/BK, Gores, String/TGods (need 'dungos) and a Torch/Anni. The only real difficulty is getting the runes for the best weapons - which I realise is quite a big part of it ;)

Not sure how I'm going to get the runes for Grief/BotD/Beast but I've made it this far!

I'm not at all rich either, only started up D2 again recently and only really have a Meteorb Sorc as a geared up character. Highest rune atm is a Mal :P

It's definitely been a lot of fun getting this far and can't wait till he's uber viable.

Well, mine is roughly two ists worth+the all res grand charms (really important!)- which are istish in price as well (I have four of them). So 3 ists. Well, the hellforge itslef- with little luck- can produce you one frenzy barb (of course, health charms are needed- I have a lot of 15-18 smalls and so on- nothing important.


My gear is:

Low Arreat+15 Ias
Oath highland blade
Azurewrath (Shaeled)
Highlord`s wrath
Dual ravens
IK belt (!!!), other one is Thundergods
Draculs (of course)
Goblin toe (!!!, upped one time)
Duress armor

Ah, yes, and one Ondals staff or 2 spirits for boost in health via BO.

That gear produces me 4700 health, 40% crushing blow, 60 light res+10 or so cold. In UT, I died only one time- because of lag. Mostly, they die like pigs. One time I even killed Mephisto without life tap, cause it failed to kick in (took me about 4 full rejus). I am not sure how much cheaper is the smiter or the assa, but according to me 3 ists and something is quite decent price.

P.S. Hell, I forgot the torch and the anni- one more ist for them. Considering the value of the pala torches, half of that barbarians equipment costs as much as one lowish pala torch.
