Frenzy questions.......

Hi all. I am making a frenzy barb which will ultimately solo the game and take out ubers and need to figure out weapon speeds and bp's. The german skill calculator shows only on weapon ias as affecting frenzy speed is this correct?? Secondly, is the ias shown the number of frames for one hit or for both hits?

I may need to trade/ mf to get the gear I want but a pair of stormlash's seems such a good idea... I used a crescent moon beserk axe on a furysin last ladder and was blown away by the effectiveness of static for crowd control. I use atma's ammy on most of my melee builds for pi's so high speed attacks are very important as the chance to cast amp is only 5%. Anyone used dual lashes and have some feedback?? Any other none rune word suggestions?? I have a limited budget and even the lashes may become to expensive......

I have been reading old frenzy posts and came across an interesting statement. "It is pointless pumping shout as frenzy baba's have no def when attacking". This sounds a little odd. Could someone please clarify or refute this statement.

Here's a copy paste from a thread I posted in a while ago. I solo the Ubers with this setup. Stormlashes are ok, but static isn't really that amazing because it stops working at half the Ubers life, which is when they are hardest because crushing blow also loses effectiveness. I forget exactlyhow many points now but I have just over 10 points in Shout and it seems to help. The bonus from Double Swing to Frenzy isn't that great so I split up those two synergies. You want to stack resists over the max (most likely 75) because of Mephisto's Conviction aura. Try to prebuff with Fade from Treachery and also Enchant from Demon Limb.

I have two Mastery gc's with life, one 129 AR gc, and assorted damage/ar/life or just damage/ar small and large charms and one 175 poison lc. I have a Torch now but didnt on my first run.

It's typical to die once or more from Mephisto, so make sure you can leave and join the game without it disapearing by either having a partner or doing some other stuff in the game for a while before going into Trist.

skills are:
20 Axe Mastery
20 Frenzy
20 BO
about 10+ for Shout and Double Swing
1 iron skin, nat resist, faster run/walk and stamina, berserk, leap and prereqs.

Howl is quite handy and so is Leap.

Youll need to pump the frenzy synergies, and they are:

Taunt --> minimum 10 hard points
Double swing --> minimum 10 hard points
Masteries --> 20 hard points

If you want to do ubers, your eventually gonna have to look at runeword weapons, but in the mean time these aint bad:

Uniques:

Try to get etheral zodded for both of these:

Death Cleaver Beserker axe
Stormlash Scourage


Runewords:

Breath of the Dying Beserker Axe or ebotdz as its more commonly known
Death Beserker Axe or edeathz. Use in off hand
Grief Beserker Axe or griefz
Beast Beserker Axe or beastz
Oath Beserker Axe or oathz if your stripped for cash
Last Wish Berseker Axe or lwz if your not. Use in off hand


Im using ebotdz and edeathz combo along with the usual fort/nigma | arreats | gores | Dracs | Verdungos
Works very well
2x near perfect ravens and Hilords standard jewelery setup
Lots of ar|damage|life grand/small charms are necessary
I'm going to try beastz and lwz next for the dual aura's, could be very good combo

I'm using dual last wish phase blades on mine. You'd be surprised at the damage they do (although I'm using fort). Also, for pvm the tap will more than make up for the lower damage. I prefer phase blades over zerks for 2 reasons:
1: Phase blades don't break.
and
2:Uncharged, 2x lw phase blades will still attack at 6fpa, where a zerker attacks at 7. After a hit or two the phase blades will be attacking at the max 5fpa. Much easier to charge with a faster initial attack.

Also, berserk, not frenzy, sets your def to 0 while attacking. Shout works fine with frenzy, although with all the synergies you're probably better off with only 1 pt in it.

My budget will not stretch to runeword weapons and the 5 hr per last wish for a total of ten are NEVER going to happen. Weapon suggestions cheaper than storm lash and with decent cb would be handy.

I have solo'd ubers with avenger,zealot,smiter and dragon talon kicker so I do understand the principles and necessary skills. I already have the dracs and gores and am working on a balance of res and absorb across the jewellry and armour.

Good idea with prebuff using treachery. Does this last once u remove armour like pre bufing with demons limb??

I take it that most people think that def is relevant to frenzy baba's?? So shout pts are important.

I have made frenzy baba's before but havent placed much emphasis on crushing blow. The biggest problem with uber killing seems to be ar not dmg. My kicker took out mephisto quite easily with only 1k dmg. The issue is when u dont hit enough and u are taking dmg without the benefit of life tap. My reason for lashes was that I plan to pump def and leave the frenzy syns untill last so getting at least 50% cb will be important in slivering most bad guys. Max mastery, max frenzy, max bo, max shout and singles in all the usual mastery skills. I will have plus 8 skills without gc's so even single pts will be useful.

I figure the standard technique once prebuffed is to enter, find Meph, hit hard and Howl to push minions away. Does warcry affect ubers as it does the normal versions of the three?? I may have the name wrong but I mean the warcry that reduces enemy def and gives the baddies the red thingy over their heads. Oops. I just thought, that will override lifetap...hmm better not.

Can anyone tell me how ias as displayed in the various calculators works>?? If it says for example, 6 frames, does that mean that you hit left, 6frame pause, then right, 6 frame pause, or is it hit left, hit right, 6 frame pause, hit left hit right etc......

Warcry isn't going to work on the Uber, only the minions. I'm wondering though, if that means the Uber will stay lifetapped while you are warcrying away at the minions.

Not sure how desperate you are for attack rating, but you could try an Angelic Set Ammy + Ring. I might have been headed here with a 6x% chance to hit on my zealot on Ubers, but I bought a lifetap wand off Akara in hell.
