Frenzy MF Barbarian.

I am down to Last Wish Phase Blade + Breath of the Dying Colossus OR Phase Blade.

I just looked at the link for basic items. I forgot that any Breath of the Dying will be doing a lot of damage. I'd say it's Phase Blade for the BOTD then. It's hardly any less damage I believe. -Damage but +Speed is always better.

The item list shows base speed of Phase Blades to be [-30] while Colossus Blades are [+10]. I don't really understand these, but it looks like Colossus Blades are faster.
 
Ebotd and LW phases will be quite damaging. If I were to use phase blades, this would be the combo I would choose also.

As far as weapon speed, lower is better, and negatives is just plain scary fast. Obviously, -30 on phase blades is pretty much the fastest possible base weapon speed in the game. Zerker axes are 0 (zero), just to give you a comparison. And you know CB is +10.
 
+5, actually. Colossal sword is +10.

You babo looks cool, but if it were me, I couldn't help it loading him with mass-destruction stuff like gui's helm, gores, laying, highlord's etc... lol.

It could still do his share of magic-finding by popping corpses with dual gulls on weapon switch ;)

Last wish phase and ebotd cb seems to be the only sword combo I havent tried :smiley:
Thanks to greyghost for commenting that LW phase duals rocked ..they do.the might aura stacks and each hit with each sword hits with cb.Combine that with an infinity merc and the kill speed is sick..very nice.

My biggest problem here was lack of life steal>Rings i used were raven frost and rare 4ml mf ring with dual resist.My soul life leach was from lifetap which was another reason why I chose dual last wish.Last wish in phase for the speed.Im guessing dual ml/ll mf ring woulda been much much better but i wasnt that fortunate to find one :grin:

Spankeh pointed out the ias problem with ebotdcb/lw cb combo.i just tried that this week and I agree these swords seem even slower than dual lw phase blades although I dont see why.Unless cbs are capped at speed??

I tried and I didnt see u guys suggest this combo and im sorry if I missed it if you did but last wish/39ias grief combo worked great also, very fast,nice kill speed and again combined with infinity merc is very nice.

Anyway my 20cents added in:smiley: maybe spankeh has better ideas :wink3:Least wise maybe all our heads together can make the best mf barb frenzier.
 
if your gonng to use phaseblades (and hey, why not, they rock) ditch botdpb for griefpb.
I mean, are you using botd just for leech? (hey, works well) but if not, theres little in the way of reasons besides this, to not go griefpb.
Griefpb in main hand and LWpb in offhand, will smash a botdpb and LWpb combo, as far as damage is concerned.
It also negates the mixing of phase/colossal blade weirdness

Get leech elsewhere, like arreats, upped 8% string-ears belt, maybe a dual leech dual resist ring and dracs, and you will do very well.

But i hate dracs, cause lifetap overwrites decrepify, and therefor i use LoH gloves, so find more leech elsewhere

My barbarian is mainly for magic find, so he's pure Pvm.

Final layout.

a. Helmet: Shako.
b. Armor: Enigma (Dusk Shroud).
c. Weapon 1: Breath of the Dying (Phase Blade).
d. Weapon 2: Last Wish (Phase Blade).
e. Ring 1: Ravenfrost.
f. Ring 2: BK Ring
g. Amulet: Eagle Torc Amulet/Highlord's Wrath.
h. Boots: War Travelers/Gore Rider Boots.
i. Belt: Verdguno's.
j. Gloves: Chance Guards/Laying of Hands.

No Grief. I don't need damage. Last Wish's crushing blow is my main damage while the BOTD is for killing physical immunes with Berserk. BOTD has higher IAS, 30 to all attributes, and mana/life steal. My guy will be pretty much pure life, with some attributes on dexterity for phase blades.

This isn't a reason, but, I am Non-Ladder. Griefs are expensive. I am only gonna have one on my Whirlwind Barbarian.
 
hum.. it kinda seems like a bad idea to me to blow a zod on a non-ethereal item, but ok. By the way, aren't grieves LESS expensive than botds?
 
If Grieves = Griefs, no. Not on Non-Ladder. So I won't be MAKING a BOTD, either. I have to hope someone has a Phase Blade one.
 
You'll be very happy with ebotd and lw phases. I agree that a high grief is just too expensive and its true value lies in pvp play. For your purposes ebotd is a great weapon.

The thing we haven't discussed is mercs (if you're going to get one). I would suggest a nm offensive desert warrior with a pride polearm. The combination of concentration and blessed aim auras will boost your attack rating 3000 points, boosts your damage about 1500 points and give you a chance of uninterruptible attack. Since you don't use beast, attack rating is a big factor.

If you prefer not to use pride on a merc (it shatters corpses), the next best choice IMO is infinity. I realize that conviction lowers only elemental damages and frenzy is all physical, but the -% enemy def is helpful in the place of pride's concentration aura. Also infinity gets 40% crushing blow and your merc will kill a lot of enemy minions for you.

Bier, since you use ebotd for berzerk, what do you keep on switch? WC sticks? Heart Carvers? Gulls? Dual-isted Ali-Babas? 6-Ist Colossus Blades?

I previously had a botd phase. My "friend" stole it. Maybe its still floating around on East somewhere.

Also you might find that wisp is better than BK, since you already have high life and leech. The magic find and lightning damage/absorb are nice. I never bother to use the spirits though.

One last thing: I keep a CoH / Arreats on switch for ubers. Make sure you have the base strength to equip these when you take off your enigma. I use a Archon enigma and Boneweave CoH, so I had to invest a few more points into strength.
 
I dunno if I would have a good use for COH, since Enigma will allow me to have the lowest strength possible. I willl get Arreats for the 20% to attack rating, though I traded a near perfect with 40/15 in it for 5 SOJs. 20% AR is the main factor though. I don't think BK should be replaced with Whisp if I only have life leech on the BK. Plus, more power, more life, and more defense with +1 all skills. Thanks for the help, I have my guy's setup set.
 
The use of the Dusk Shroud COH is taken care of later in my post.

Another factor with item switches is that I am an MF'er. I don't like having my inventory full of item switches when I am looking for items.

My swap weapons are always gonna be two HOTOs. I could use two 6 isted weapons, I have one right now, but that much more MF isn't really needed, is it?

As for the Wisp, lightning absorb and the MF on it is nice, but I am gonna go with BK, still. I said in my other post that the only life leech I have is on the BK, but I completely forgot about the BOTD.

For my Mercenary, I am definitly getting a Blessed Aim Mercenary from Act 2 Hell. Pride seems like a nice weapon, but I wouldn't want my targets to pop. His armor is going to be COH Dusk Shroud for the resistances and damage enhancement. Plus, since I don't like having a lot of items in my inventory, and the COH would be good against Ubers, I can just swap armors with my Mercenary when I do Uber runs. I don't think Mercenaries survive too well against Ubers anyways. For the helm, I am gonna use a Delerium.
 
Sounds good. You will be suprised how well your merc will survive between life tap and confuse.

You should do well without having to switch weapons at all. You can try experimenting with the 6-ist weapons to see if you find anything better (My friend found a stormshield this way, by switching to 2x 6-ist cb's and horking eldritch).

Okay, but my current way of making wealth is to do torch runs. Right now I am working on getting a Grief for my Whirlwind Barbarian, that's first. Then, I will only be getting started on the Frenzy Barbarian.

I am gonna trade my 411% EBOTD Berserker Axe for a Last Wish, hopefully.

I have:
Helmet, Gloves, Amulet, BK Ring, 2 HOTOs. Still gotta get a Ravenfrost and the other items needed.

Though I have patience, it MIGHT be a while before he's done, but I do get keys fast. Maybe when/if the Ladder switches, prices will drop.
 
If pure MF PVM go with 2 phase blade Lastwish (drop the might merc for prayer, BA, or HF) and kill instead of spending time repairing, More points than normal or Max the Beserk and the P-immunes will fall (20% added Magic damage) without bothering to switch to using the berserk skill.
Most of your time is going to be spend Horking and IDing and sadly trying to choose what to keep or mule.
Just keep lots of ID scrolls handy.
I know 6 ist is more mf but killing with it? 2 isted Ali BABAs are sweet for the kill (and get better as you lvl) and the Hork of bodys and the %GF gold is all gambling rares.
MF is part % but once you get 300-500% killing speed and Horking the bodys is more of a concern.
key hunt and ubers is not MF build - total diffrence as the drop is set

My build is different than what you might think, then. I will be doing MF, Key Hunting, and Ubers. This would probably called a Pvm Frenzy build simply, but then that'd mean I'd be using Gore Rider Boots, Arreats, Highlord's, and other things. So by what you say, this is neither Pvm or MF. But, considering I will have around 530% MF, I am a Frenzy MF build. As for the magic find weapons on switch, I won't be using them to kill, that wouldn't be smart. I'd use them to hork the bodies of monsters. Killing will be done with the killing weapons. Besides, I am gonna have HOTOs on my secondary.
