Great guide, thanks Spankeh. I've always loved the Frenzy Barbs, and have built a few over the many times I've picked back up D2.

Since I'm just getting started again (or will be if 1.13 ever comes out...) there is no way I can afford an amp damage build - not yet at least. In the mean time:

How do you manage a Decrepify build and still use axes? Lifetap is too easy, and I love my zerkers :). Thanks!

You can only put lawbringer in swords, hammers or scepters, so if you want to use decrep you must at least use one of those. Since the physical damage of lawbringer is almost naught and it already has some CtH modifiers you could make a Sword/Axe barb with just 1 point in Sword Mastery though.

Stephan: 100% correct
Out of all three curse builds, decrepify gives 3 outstanding bonuses, whereas the other two curses give only one.
But Amp Damage is unbeatable in pure kill speed.

This is a great guide Spankeh, just wondering..about what should my ar be for ubering..and anyone have troubles with dcing games while frenzying with a torch? :x

Im running ~14,500 AR for both weapons, would prefer 20k to boost my 85% hit rate on ubers.
Never had any problems with torch going off and dcing, except when theres a damn bowazon playing and her torch causes the dc!!!

General running around in hell, Grief Phaseblade and Lawbringer Phaseblade are the pair to beat.

Im making a general pvm barb, which in later stages can kill ubers aswell

So I was thinking making these weapons first.

what about the rest of the setup? Using lifetap will override the decrep, so I was thinking getting more lifeleech and not use dracs ?

Go for string of ears ? or do I need the fhr of verdungo ? the extra life is quite nice but needed?

by using enigma my resistances will not be maxed, solve this with charms? (im now using lionheart)

Im confused:

if i had to choose only two weaps it would be botdz/deathz (griefpb/deathcs not far behind). if you pvm a little but mostly do ubers, beastz/deathz would probably be better.

What's the best setup ?

grief pb + lawbringer is much cheaper which is an advantage

dude stop mixing threads.

in pvm you can get decrep by sticking a reaper's toll on your merc and using enigma. if you tele in the middle of groups to bring your merc with you, he will cast decrep on most if not all monsters pretty quickly. lawbringer is nice for the sanctuary aura which wtfpwns undead, but it has crappy damage :/.

ye I am using a merc with reapers toll, but since im using dracs lifetap will override the decrep. So im thinking what I should change.

BotD will increase leech aswell, and damage is not much lower than grief...

Finally got my Frenzybarb up and running yesterday and I have a question about items. Currently his gear are as follows:

Helm: Random Arreats
Armor: Enigma Archon
Gloves: Draculs
Boots: Goreriders
Ring1: Raven 20/240
Ring2: 8%ll rare ring with random mods
Amu: Highlords
Main hand weapon: eBotD CB
Off-hand weapon: eDeath CS
Charms: mid anni and random life/res charms

Merc: a1 Cold with Faith CB, Forti (no ebug), Guillames

My barb puts out 2k-5.9k (botd) + 2k-5.5k (death) in damage with fana from merc.
3.8k life (w/bo)
8k defense
~8k AR
55-75 all res in hell (will be maxed with a 15+ res torch)

Merc does 0.5k-1.5k dmg with 2,7k life (bo'ed)

My plan is to solo ubers with this guy, but I am a bit confused about which items is better. Especially concerning the weapons. As you can see I am using swords, therefore I have also maxed out sword mastery and is locked to only using swords. I've read about several combinations with different RW swords, but can't seem to figure out which combo is best. I don't even know if I am weilding them right (which sword should be main?). I also have a Grief PB from my old zmiter which I haven't had time to try yet.

Also concerning the rest of the gear, I am looking for improvements. Most items are mid-high in stats.

I am seeking to improve my AR, lifepool, damage and resists, but don't really know how I will go about doing that.

your gear is good, but there are two things:

1. You need more 125 all res to fight to "negate" mephisto's conviction aura. So put a coh and pre-buff fade with treachery. Catch him first because you have ~270 seconds before fade runs out.

2. You need more AR. Get some ar charms.

Alright, after lot's of mf and some wheeling and dealing with my mf Sorc I'm ready to begin my Uber Frenzier. Just need some critique of my projected setup.

This is what I have and plan to use:

Helm: perf Arreats (traded for) socketed w/ 30max/15ias jewel (self found) (I haven't added jewel yet just in case I come across a better one)
Armor: COH AP (self made almost perfect roll)
Gloves: perf Dracs (traded for)
Boots: Goreriders (self found 196% ED)
Belt: got perfect strings (self found) and a nos coil (self found 5% ll)
Rings: Ravens both close to 240 AR (both self found)
Amu: Highlords (self found)
Main hand weapon: eBotDz (traded for)
Off-hand weapon: eDeathz (self made 392% ED roll)
Charms: working on getting anni, ar, resist charms

Do I need any to make any major changes, besides resists and ar, I'm working on those? Should I get any weapons for secondary like Lacerators or go with some +warcries weapons to pump BO more?

Edit* forgot to mention my planned merc is going to be an Act 1 Cold Arrow with Faith, COH, Guillaume's

You're definitely too heavy in strength. Dex at least increases your AR, which you need for hitting ubers. Strength past the bare minimum to equip gear is wasted, it gives 1% damage per point and isn't multiplicative with frenzy or sword mastery bonuses. You should probably be using arreat's for the resist, it gives 20 str. Your other gear (and charms) will probably have some str as well. A CB only takes 189 to equip, so anything past 189 there's absolutely no use for. Also note eth CB takes less str, and breath of the dying has a hel rune in it for even less, plus BotD grants 30 to all stats allowing you to equip another CB runeword with higher str requirement.

Ideally you want your str before gear to be 100 or less. You can use a high str ring or ammy to temporarily boost str enough to equip something with +str, like say BotD, then remove the ring and your item will provide enough stats to say equipped. So just add up all the str on your gear, subtract that from the highest str requirement you have, and make your base str equal to that number. Or you could just click str until all your gear is working, but you run the risk of going over if one of the higher str items grants str.

I'm having trouble picking a second weapon. Right now my gear set up is Arreats, Highlord's, Enigma armor (CoH for Mephisto, nigma for everything else), Dracs, one Ravenfrost, Dungos, and Gores. I have one Grief PB and the stuff to trade for a second weapon, or make a BotD, but I'm not sure which.

I threw all the gear I have onto a test character in single player. I fall into the 'you need Life Tap to survive' category or stats with about 4400 health, 8200 armor, 15% life leech, and 18% DR.

I'm thinking either Death or Last Wish for the Crushing Blow, since right now all I have is the 15% from my Gores. Death would also give a really nice AR bonus which I'm going to need; with that on I only have about 7800/6900 AR with Frenzy, so I'll need to get some AR charms. Last Wish is mostly the same but with Might aura instead of the AR bonus and is way more expensive on NL.

Thoughts?

You could use reaper's on your merc and with teleport have decrep on most of the time which could provide the safety, and allow Laying of hands and Guillaume instead of the current choices, take care of the crushing blow problem, and allow for a second grief pb in the off hand for maximum damage.
For non-ubers gameplay that would be my suggestion.

IMO, metalgrid is a superior amulet for ubers. The resists and AR free up a lot of choices elsewhere. You definitely need a crushing blow stick, 15% is really low. Personally, I'm gearing my barb out for ubers and chaos running, and I'm shooting for either grief or BotD main hand with last wish off hand. LW lets me ditch the treachery armor eating up bank space, applies life tap faster, and takes care of all the CB I need.

Eh, you lose Deadly Strike and IAS though. Plus I don't need the resists, at least when I have CoH on.

What about BotD mainhand, Grief offhand, and changing my helm to Guillame's (maybe with an um to make up for resists)?
