Forum Mafia - The Dark Tower Game Thread

Goes west

I don't want to single out the person who solved it simply because it doesn't feel like necessary information and everyone will see my setup at the end anyway.

As for the bonus, each faction will be rewarded but when that reward comes is randomized. Rather than tell you now, each faction will be given notice when their reward arrives. There are mechanics in play that could circumvent the bonuses which is the only reason they're secret.

So you think all the factions get seperate bonus's? The way I read it, seems to say one bonus for the whole group, not sure ,just my take on it.

I know each faction gets its own bonus because I tinkered with a bunch of ideas and picked the one that seemed both cool and balanced with each other, then added in a random factor :)

I'd like to know the answer to your task/riddle now. I've put effort into solving it even though I was just clueless. I read the wiki and thought about it. Having to wait some weeks now to get the answer feels quite annoying.

Sorry Drixx, the first question was directed at ph, not you, you answered in the time my slow typing took:wink:

I would like to know as well. We were all pretty much throwing out random answers, so you're really not singling out anyone.

It's something about the number of the beams, and how that relates somehow to the game mechanics/the game itself. Or maybe something even more obvious. Otherwise, I'm entirely wrong and you can lynch me later.

I actually agree with kegs on this, I picked it out as odd wording as well. Could be a joke as you said, but to me it feels a bit like a guilty conscience.

The riddle is solved, by the way. In fact there were two answers while I slept that both would have counted. The bonus comes in the form of a chance of something happening each day.

Interesting.

The bonus is a mystery ... until it happens. It is a bonus though ... for all factions.

Even more interesting.

So we all get to be VI's:wink:

That would be one heck of a game. Make one half the people even day VI , the other half odd day VI, just for some variety. Or possibly even better, make everyone even day VI.

Still want to know what the answer was, it's killing me.

Yeah, might need to wait until the end of the game though. I am really wondering, as I am pretty sure it was not my guess.

Anti-town getting a bonus is detrimental to town wincon, and I suspect any neutral parties will also get something detrimental to town wincon, while we get something good. Chances are mafia/neutral bonus won't be public (unless it's a double night or something) whereas town benefits are usually public (two lynches for example).

Interesting assumption. Why would you think that neutral bonuses would be detrimental for town?

I hope you know how each faction gets its bonus, or this will be a really confusing game :jig:.

When you first announced it without saying what the right answer was, I wondered if only the faction of the first correct guess got the bonus. And with no announcement of what the bonus was, I was even more worried a mafia guessed it. So at least we get something.

Same reason VIs can be a detriment to the town, like last game *tease* if Drixx was given the role block item or whatever it was.
Neutral wincon isn't town wincon, and since they can win w/o town winning (by definition) then it is likely detrimental to town (and mafia, but that doesn't balance it out for town really)

I would agree VI's normally work against the town (except in certain cases - Laarz, I think you qualify here), but that is normally because their role demands it. Otherwise in the past other neutrals tend to try and work with the town. And heck, even Drixx tried to work with town on days he was not trying to get himself lynched.

Do you have other examples of non-VI nuetrals that really pulled one over on the town?

I WANT TO KNOWWWWWW ugh.

is neutral considered a faction? Wouldn't you be factionless?

Hey Bad Ash - Let's play some mafia.

Name three names.

Why three? Dark Tower names, or player names? Why in general? I guess now that the riddle is solved, the world must move on.

I once read a game where a Survivor made it to three man LYLO. He said - "I don't care who else wins. First person to vote the other and I'll follow."

It was an obvious mafia (and survivor) win.

Doesn't matter. I left the question open ended for a reason. I wanted to see what kind of answer you came up with. Heck, even answering with a question is an answer in of itself and gives me something to go off of.

To really make this work, you should now ask a question of someone.

Drixx has always seemed to talk as if neutrals were a faction, or that if there were neutrals in the game there would be more than one. I've always been assuming that there would be a neutral faction if they were in the game at all. Of course that could be wrong, it's just an assumption. I also feel like there probably aren't any in the game at all, but that's just another assumption.

That is probably how these things work.

I feel like there is neutrals from Drixx's post in the sign up thread made it clear that there were neutrals.

*double checked* never should have doubted you kestegs.

The town is called "The White"
The mafia is called "The Red"
The neutrals, if there are any, will know what they are called.
