Forum Mafia - The Dark Tower Game Thread

I think it's a matter of semantics. He stated that knowledge of the books is not required, but also that the answer could be found in the wiki. So while someone who's never read the series could conceivably answer the riddle, you're still required to do a bit of research and be somewhat knowledgeable of the setting.

Exactly. I'd assume that whatever the answer is, you could find by searching in the wiki for pertinent terms in the riddle, once you've figured out where exactly the riddle is located. The only thing Drixx added was the words say true, say sorry immediately after mentioning that only two guardians are left.

Just a joke.

I don't think these riddles should require ANY knowledge of the book whatsoever. Just like in the series, Roland loves riddles, but they're ones anyone could answer. That's the way it should be with sticking with the theme of the Dark Tower.

Didn't sound like a joke, and I don't like it.

I don't think knowledge of the books/wiki SHOULD be required, but I think that it IS required. If people that already know the material can't get it then I doubt anyone is going to get it by digging through the wiki.

Let's look at what clues he has dropped in his comments:
~We've figured out the elements of the task, as of this post.
~The answer is probably a riddle, or what Drixx perceives to be a riddle, as evidenced by this post.
~Someone came very close to the answer sometime before here.
~In this post he drops a couple hints.
~He is looking for words from an acceptable set of answers. It could be from a phrase or specific characters or object, etc.
~He drew attention to the following bit:
--------------------->"When last the world began to turn, six beams there were, and twelve guardians to guard them. But the world has moved on, and now but two remain, say true, say sorry. "<---------------
With addition of "Say True, Say Sorry". In the books "Say True: only comes up in [Spoiler Guys, Be warned] Jakes Eulogy [/End Spolier Guys, It's safe]
~He also draws away from the idea of the answer dealing with a clock, so I think we can drop that for now.

I recognize this!!!!

It's Algebra.............RUN FOR YOU LIVES IT'S A STORY PROBLEM!!!!!

I've read them all at least three times each, but it's been a while. Knowledge of the books is relative, the story is 4,250 pages long and that doesn't count the misc material from all the other books. I remember different things than other people probably would especially someone who was scouring them recently for an "harder" riddle.

Say true. Say sorry.

Its too bad Drixx said it wasn't clock related, because my first thought was the twelve are the numbers 1-12 on the clock and then the two remaining represented the hour/minute hands, but that's probably extremely wrong.

I wanted to do this but that would require knowing which two beams are left and then extrapolating the various times of day that the 4 spokes could represent, and picking the latest one with the whole "hour draws late" idea.

The riddle is solved, by the way. In fact there were two answers while I slept that both would have counted. The bonus comes in the form of a chance of something happening each day.

The bonus is a mystery ... until it happens. It is a bonus though ... for all factions.

Any reason why you say that ph?
Anti-town getting a bonus is detrimental to town wincon, and I suspect any neutral parties will also get something detrimental to town wincon, while we get something good. Chances are mafia/neutral bonus won't be public (unless it's a double night or something) whereas town benefits are usually public (two lynches for example).

What you wind up with is the informed majority either with more information with respect to the town than before, or like I said 1 or more non-town factions benefiting towards their wincon. (And not the town's)
