Forum Mafia - The Dark Tower Game Thread

I'm just shotgunning ideas out here. Will probably give up on the task/riddle should neither of these work.

Walk: Beam of Bear, Path of Turtle

True. Sorry.

The change is bolded. He added those words. I had sent the text to my work email. Looks like that was a good idea. ;)

Ka is a wheel. For the inhabitants of all-world, this has ever been so. When last the world began to turn, six beams there were, and twelve guardians to guard them. But the world has moved on, and now but two remain, say true, say sorry. The gunslinger, Roland, has completed the beginning of his journey and palavered with the man in black. Shall we look back at what has come before?

Nice. not that I get it, but just in case it too easy:

Answer: True Sorry

Anyways, those words do stick out. Are the two remaining guardians Roland and the man in black? Could one relate to true, one to sorry?

Its too bad Drixx said it wasn't clock related, because my first thought was the twelve are the numbers 1-12 on the clock and then the two remaining represented the hour/minute hands, but that's probably extremely wrong.

Yeah, that seemed like a good guess to me.

Beat me to it, dang.

I don't dance at all.

I was raised Church of Christ and I know what dancing can lead to....so I just drink :guiness:

You have no idea how long I laughed at that, being as I was also raised CoC.

You give us way to much credit, ha ha.

Yeah I don't understand you in the slightest, but I don't think anyone can.

Wrong game, sorry kegs.

Nope, I'm Batman. Check the wiki.

You guys haven't figured it out yet?

That's yet to be determined since drixxon is lurking.

This is silly, I thought Drixx said himself knowledge of the book is not required? The answer must not be turtle or bear-related then, but still most likely has something to do with time, or a clock, or wheel.

The change that Drixx made was the one that Moar noted, "say true, say sorry". That highlights the section on the two remaining beams, but Drixx said that we don't need knowledge of what the beams represent since it's from the story.

So, let's get past the specifics, since that is not the point here. It's something about the number of the beams, and how that relates somehow to the game mechanics/the game itself. Or maybe something even more obvious. Otherwise, I'm entirely wrong and you can lynch me later.

Let's look at what clues he has dropped in his comments:
~We've figured out the elements of the task, as of this post.
~The answer is probably a riddle, or what Drixx perceives to be a riddle, as evidenced by this post.
~Someone came very close to the answer sometime before here.
~In this post he drops a couple hints.
~He is looking for words from an acceptable set of answers. It could be from a phrase or specific characters or object, etc.
~He drew attention to the following bit:
"When last the world began to turn, six beams there were, and twelve guardians to guard them. But the world has moved on, and now but two remain, say true, say sorry. "
With addition of "Say True, Say Sorry". In the books "Say True: only comes up in [Spoiler Guys, Be warned] Jakes Eulogy [/End Spolier Guys, It's safe]
~He also draws away from the idea of the answer dealing with a clock, so I think we can drop that for now.

I think it's a matter of semantics. He stated that knowledge of the books is not required, but also that the answer could be found in the wiki. So while someone who's never read the series could conceivably answer the riddle, you're still required to do a bit of research and be somewhat knowledgeable of the setting.

Why would we lynch you because of that?
Just a joke.

I don't think these riddles should require ANY knowledge of the book whatsoever. Just like in the series, Roland loves riddles, but they're ones anyone could answer. That's the way it should be with sticking with the theme of the Dark Tower.
