Fire golem build

I don't play necros much and the skeleton and revive builds slow my computer down too much so I was wondering......
Do you think a build with a fire golem as a primary attack would survive in hell? Lets just say you had a beefed up fire golem with some synergies and golem mastery, you hire an Act3 lightening merc, and you use a Lower resist curse on all you enemies, could these 2 elemental attack forces get you anywhere in hell?

What if I equiped my necro with Infinity runeword? Would the conviction aura and lower resist curse be enough to break the immunities?

I have serious doubts in the usefullness of Fire Golem. If you could afford infinity maybe the bonemancer is also in your range. It is rather nice build try to read the stickies. Back to the subject. Fire Golem is nice but it requires many points to be usefull and even then it will kill very (i mean very very very)
slowly. Lighting Merc is to fragile to rely on him. Also if you invest much in golem , golem mastery, lower resist, synergies you can have only weak corpse explosion as your only damaging spell.

Once again my tip for you :

Try a Bonemancer - lot of fun - and you have power in your spells which is much more fun (for me at least)

my very first necro that i built without a guide was close to what your asking. I spent about 60 points in golems/golem mastery. I spent about 30 in bone spirit and synergies for it to end up with around a 900 dmg bone spirit. and then a few points in curses to get decrepify. I used a fire golem as my primary golem with clay for bosses cause it was mana cheap. For mercs i used a Act 3 cold merc with the paladin set (name eludes me) great for resists etc since they can equip all 4 pieces. Using this build i went through normal and NM fairly easy, was fun id' just curse a few things bone spirit and my merc would freeze entire packs.

Once i hit hell...i died alot... and rebuilt. if you meet anything immune to what your merc does for elemental dmg you will not kill it easily. The fire golem puts out little to nil dmg even with lower resists. I had a merc with cresent moon runeword, upped duriel shell, and vamp gaze and i had a hard time completely Hell act 1, if you want a challenge go nuts but I dont' advise a build similiar to this.

-note i did put some points in bone areas that could have beefed up the golem, but i don't think it would have been enough to make him a killer.

A level 50 FG with maxed synergies will have the following stats:

Mana cost: 540
Hit Points: 12156
Regeneration per second: 222.5
Damage: 18 - 47 (ø32.5)
Fire damage: 838 - 916 (ø877)
Aura Fire Damage: 43 - 45 (ø44.5)
Attack Rating: 5356
Defense: 888
Frames per Attack: 16
Absorb Fire: 98%
Resist fire: 170%
Resist cold: 70%
Resist lightning: 70%
Resist poison: 70%

Even with a maxed amount of -%Enemy defense this still only amounts to a Fire damage of 1676 – 1832 (ø1754). Not exactly the stats of a killing machine, especially since this is at level 50.
