Finding a 40ED/15IAS jewel

N'Thraxx: I cheated and used an affix caculator. :) Not sure if a direct link would frowned or not, but its the first hit on a google search for "affix calculator".

Chris

It used some sort of frequencies... strange. Maybe it's part of the game's item creation thingy that I don't know so much about. No wonder my calculations were flipping out, but also I noticed that Arreat Summit seems to be out of date. The prefix/suffix list (on the affix calc site and AS) were different when I compared them.

Maybe you got different odds because some affixes a weighted more heavily when an item is generated? I dont know if thye are but Im sure I see more rare weapons with +ED% than I should based on a simple probability:scratch:

I've had many low thirties jewels with 15% increased attack speed. I can't tell a difference. I think I've had 23, 28, 33, and 35.

In single player I have a 26/15 which I reckon is a pretty good find! No idea what I will use it in yet but I will use it someday hehe. My boyfriend and I did find a 39/15 on Bnet - during a cow run it was and he was faster on teleporting to it than me the bugger :D

Ahhh remember the days when telekinesis would pick up anything =) Now THAT I was good at.

I am also the owner of a 1.09 40/15. My sorc was doing MF runs and it made an appearance. Needless to say, that was a very good MF day for me!

The best that I've ever found is this:

Ruby Jewel of Avarice
Required Level: 58
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 90
Fingerprint: 0xdf42d47a
+40% Enhanced Damage
28% Extra Gold from Monsters

I've never found an IAS jewel with another mod, although I did cube this one a couple of days ago.

Rune Gyre
Jewel
Required Level: 37
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 71
Fingerprint: 0x5824732d
+30% Enhanced Damage
+14 to Attack Rating
+11 to Minimum Damage
The only good thing out of five lvl 90-93 rares and skads of pskulls.

Darn you Icebird

Ruby Jewel of Fervor
Required Level: 58
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 85
Fingerprint: 0x297b323
+39% Enhanced Damage
15% Increased Attack Speed

that's as close as i've gotten

heh, actually this thread makes me feel better. I've got only a couple of ED jewels at all, all but 1 under 30. And none have useful suffixes (27 ED/+5 stamina) for example.

With all the talk about "dont waste a shael" and "just put a couple 40/15" stuff in some of the build guides on purediablo.com, I was beginning to think they must be common drops off Pindle or something

Well, I guess that is why my 1.09 jewel went for so much. I didn't realize what I had.

I just traded this. Got the stats from my archived PM's

Ruby Jewel of Fervor
Required Level: 58
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 90
Fingerprint: 0x2fa813ea
+37% Enhanced Damage
15% Increased Attack Speed

And no, I didn't get it from battlenet. Never been there.

I found several 20+%ED/15%ias jewels in 1.09 :)

The important mod IMO is the 15% ias afterall, so whatever ED% on the jewel is just icing.

Oh dear, are they that rare?

I've been playing for about a year, rather infrequently, and I have found a 32/15 and a 37/15. I definitely remember the second dropping from a monster in Nilathak's Temple, level 2. 1.09 always.

By the way, it's ridiculous to compare the odds of finding an ilvl 66 to those of finding the high TC golds and greens or a Zod: half the monsters in Hell can drop the former. Tyrael's Might can only drop from, what, one? Let alone you can cube blues...

Well it seems that my calculations were wrong because of different frequencies that affixes have, so they seem to be even rarer.

According to the Affix Calculator:
Ruby (ed), chance 1/68
Fervor, chance 1/35

So if a magical jewel drops you have a:
(1/68 * 1/10) * 1/35 = 1/23800
chance to get a perfect ed/ias jewel.

So:
Code:
Ilvl66+ Chance of finding
jewels dropped atleast one 40/15 jew

100 0.0042%
250 0.01%
500 0.02%
1000 0.04%
2000 0.08%
5000 0.19%

109600 99.9%

But these are only probabilities, after all people have found much rarer stuff.
And as you stated there are a large quantity of monsters that drop ilvl66+ jewels. So do not be despaired!

Item properties are given weights (or frequencies) so your initial calculations are off since you assume that the properties spawn equally. Some are harder to spawn that others due to the weighting.

edit: It looks like you got it right in the end :D The best I ever found in 1.09 was a 38/15 from a random enslaved near Shenk.

Some of my best Jewels finds have been in 1.10, i found very little jewels at all in 1.09.

well my best cubes have also been
+27 max jewel- I traded this off for a facet, not knowing what a lovely rare item i actually had. :grrr:
+12 min
36% ed
38%ed
27%ed

Hmm.. are good +max/+min that wanted?

+min/max dmg jewels are very sort after for twink gear. especially the ones with no clvl requirement. they are mostly socketed into light plate armour and superior great mals for the ultimate twiink gear dmg. you would be surprised with the damage you can achieve at so early lvls,

just ask strijdje. :cheesy:
