Final Fantasy Forum Mafia Game Thread

Pay attention, young one!

It isn't necessarily black and white and I didn't see the value in asking him to clarify if he was telling the truth cause how is he supposed to answer that? I would say generally, questioning claims on the first hour of the day is not something you should do, but again it can be situational. I also don't see the value of challenging him on it from a position of the town.

Mainly vanillas being vanilla. You should know more than anyone that the best a vanilla can do is get nked. Job well done by them. So why remove the wine from Zokar post? One less person to focus on (if there is any truth to it that is).

I can see this being a criticism of Zokar's claim (and I'd say this and more applies to the claim) but not to BPC's question. It was a scumhunting moment and you tried to shut that scumhunting down. Rather spectacularly. About as spectacularly as you've done in the past. As scum.

Unvote: Vorle
Vote: Bad Ash

What are some of the "several" paths that you saw the answer going besides the one I gave and which do you believe?

I was being sneaky. I see no reason to not ask better than any of the reasons to ask. I have no issues with BPC's question.

That reads scum to me gory. You are implying that you know Zokar is not what he said he was. BPC challenged a vanilla townie role claim, to what end? I wasn't trying to shut down scum hunting, there was none going on. When is the last time someone has said they were vanilla and when challenged said oh jk I'm scum.

Instead Zokar had one answer because if he's a town power role he also isn't going to divulge that information. If Zokar isn't scum, which basic game theory tells us is much higher chance than being scum, BPC forced an issue that is probably better left ignored to give the mafia more WIFOM.

There is still some obviously, and I don't think it's enough to vote BPC cause I haven't, I just question the move.

Ever since you came out and said as vanilla the best thing you can do is feign a power role. In that game I was mafia, pushed for your kill and you were vanilla. Since then I've noticed it's a bad trend in our games that is hampering the town from winning because self preservation has too high of a priority from the vanilla townies in our game because of the simple fact that it's much more fun to be alive and playing. Far too often people drop that they are vanilla when they actually are when they don't have to and it only makes it that much harder for the town power roles to gain information. Competitive advantage that should be used to further enhance the town's chance to win.

BA, I think you're forgetting that Zokar asked to be shot. I took that as him saying that his death during the day will benefit town in some way, which I think is odd.

I asked a half-assed, not very serious question and you attacked. I don't want to say I straight up agree with Gory on the issue but Copy: Goryani :P
Your play reminds me of your style in the Zombies in Atlantis game, search and destroy.

**After breakfast, the students return to a scene of panic, dozens of Moogles frantically scurrying about the dormitories, flipping through closets, chests, and cupboards.**

Engineer Cid: "Commander! General! We have a situation!!"

Deputy Logoutzero: "Cid, report!"

Engineer Cid: "Someone has broken into the Armory! Our potions stock, spell tomes and textbooks, suits of armor, at at least a dozen weapons by my preliminary count are missing!"

General Pharphis: "I want this Academy on lockdown! Not a soul enters or leaves the premises."

Deputy Logoutzero: "General, do you think it was one of the students?"

General Pharphis: "We should not jump to conclusions. If we do have any rogue students in our midst, we shall leave it to the student body to flush them out! It will be a perfect assignment for them. We shall initiate our own investigation, summon the Grand Council mages. They must be notified, so they can channel their powers into the crystals to achieve some clairvoyance into the situation. Deputy: I want you on full patrol duty. Assemble your guard! We must not have any fatalities!"

[SUB]All storytelling is merely flavor for the game, these are not events which were initiated by any player, we are merely attempting to submerge you into the game![/SUB]

So just to break it down where we are at, BPC was role fishing and that role fishing is being defended by gory who claims it was scum hunting when it was a question with one answer. That about right?

ACOL or SAYC?

Uh, I don't know?

I dislike day 1s. What else is there to do in d1's though?

Let's toss some votes around:

Vote: Pyrotechnician for trying to start a game of bridge in Final Fantasy. I don't believe Moar is partnered with him for playing along. Scum like to put out snacks for town to, snack on.

Aw how sweet. Well, I've never played either bridge or Final Fantasy, so I'd have to say my interest in playing both is still none.

Let's hypothesize that someone kills Zokar tonight. How does that help you figure out what he's up to?

My hypothesis was that if he was killed during the day, something would happen publically (either a day-vig kill flip, or whatever Zokar is up to), if he was night-killed then the kill was most likely to be anti-town (and an assumption that something to the town's benefit would occur, I don't think I need to spell it out anymore for someone as experienced as yourself)

He did? Which post?

This one:

I'm Zerig, town, no abilities, please shoot me, thanks.

Even a lone day killer can have a number of potential targets. The rule was meant for the victims. Not the killer.

The rule looks like the embodiment of the Rub (or whatever the FF Tactics name is) ability. It's why you need a Ribbon!

If it signifies anything, it's that there may be other daytime abilities which maybe can be countered by a daykill. WIFOM.

Whats a rub, and whats a ribbon? Breaking out the WIFOM so soon?

Pyro, it's pretty obvious there wouldn't be a rule about day kills unless at least one person could day kill. Your tack with this seems like pointless (and obvious) misdirection and kinda weird. I've got my eyes on you and Bipolar though, not comfortable with everything I'm seeing here...

I've got my eyes on you! (And everyone else for that matter). Besides, who are you saying here you who has tack has I? I resent that remark!

Even when I multiquote, I don't use the multiquote feature. Pyro, on the other hand, is a multi-quoting fiend not using multi-quote. Why is that Pyro?

You used to multi-quote all the time, and then you complained that people weren't reading your stuffs, so you moved to a single post/quote process.

The game is young. Patience grasshopper.

Oooh what's Forum Assassination?

It is some complicated game I could not follow. It's simple, but i just couldn't get it. Basically, you are assigned someone to kill and you try to kill them like an assassin. Here are some threads to read about it.

Seem like they may be just jokes, playing on the Shoot/daykill command from rule 17.

Thanks!

A day vig in the past has been more likely town, but there have been mafia ones as well. And specifically with the role /= alignment, I would say either is very possible.

there have been both, but I've always know Vigis to be neutral. they aren't with town, they aren't with mafia, they are for themselves.

On a scale of 1 to 10, please rate your familiarity with the Final Fantasy theme.

Zero.

Let's hypothesize that someone kills Zokar tonight. How does that help you figure out what he's up to?

I know this wasn't directed to me, but here is my answer:

A.) We might get a death reveal and we can speculate.

B.) We won't get jack and we can still speculate.

Instead Zokar had one answer because if he's a town power role he also isn't going to divulge that information. If Zokar isn't scum, which basic game theory tells us is much higher chance than being scum, BPC forced an issue that is probably better left ignored to give the mafia more WIFOM.

Maybe Zokar is stirring the poop pot and trying to make this day interesting. Or maybe he's not who he says he is and is wanting attention (which I give him plenty, idk why he would want more. ;)). Or maybe he was telling the truth. Zokar is on my radar, but I haven't made my mind up about where to put him. And, afaik, he hasn't made a post since. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Your play reminds me of your style in the Zombies in Atlantis game, search and destroy.

I think you mean Seek'n'Destroy. ;)

Aww, Techno!! I love you too!  :heartbeat:

BA, you still seem to be ignoring the fact that Zokar asked to be shot and fully claimed. I see no reason to not question that.

Not always. Sometimes some PT role has a kill ability and they end up killing another townie they thought was suspicious or some switch happens. bus driver, anyone?

*looks right at Bad Ash*

DISCLAIMER: Before **** hits the fan, I'm looking at Bad Ash because he once hosted a game where EVERYONE was a goddamn bus driver.
