farm rune contest

after i started my own quest to get all the runes i need for a grief on my own by cubing i understood how difficult it is to get those high runes. what i want with this thread is a to make people understand how difficult it is the get something yourself. sure everyone can get a ebotdz if they want to, but how many have one with runes that are self foun/cubed?

calling this a contest might not be the right description, but it can surely turn into one. you can set your own goals, places to run, and post the current amount of runes you have.

let me start out with an example:

goal: get Lo for grief runeword (i allready have mal)
places i run: countess obviusly, andariel, summoner and mephisto.
runes atm:will post this soon.
 
I posted this before, but anyway I was going for cubing a Zod rune by cubing El runes only. I can tell you this, that is nog going to happen in my lifetime. I'm somewhere at Eth and I already cheated by cubing the Eld's as well. Ah well, I give this inhuman big project to someone else.
 
wow. thats a really big quest you started there. it requires thousands of els to get a zod doesn't it? anyways thats not exactly what i meant. i was thinking maybe the goal (as i have) is geting runes for a specific runeword, and you cube everything you find. a few rules will apply of course. no trading, dont make free rune for me games, and dont dupe. you can get rushed, or rush yourself for hf quest, or you can just do like me and run the queen of runes (countess) and other bosses if you want some items to. i realize some could get a temp ban for creating games to fast. ohh and no hacks or bots. like a map hack or countess running bot. im about to mule all my runes over to 1 character and cube what i have, then i can post the runes i have so far. imo this could make for an interesting thread.

It requires millions of El runes to get a Zod. And over 100000 gems as well. :evil:

Cubing a Zod from Els will take several 100 years unless you play 24/7. The highest chance of getting a Zod is cubing two self-found Chams IIRC. Either that or finding it by a drop. And we all know how likely that is. :tongue:

do you count hellforge rushing as cheating in this case? :scratch:
 
if you read my post earlier i said you can run any place you want, rush yourself or get rushed for hf or just pick up runes while lvling. what i dont want is map hack (or any hack for that matter. i dont support the use of hacks) and no bots. i have made a list of the runes i have now. its not very impressive, but its better than trading for dupes and then have them poof after a couple of days. here it is:
9 amn, 6 sol, 4 lum, 4 dol, 3 io, 2 fal, 2 eth, 2 tir, 2 nef, 1 ral, 1 shael, 1 el, 2 eld, 2 ort, 1 tal, 1 dol, 1 lem, 1 um and 2 mal. all are found by myself and cubed (except the mals. one from hf and other from hell cows).

as you might have guessed by now, i pick up every rune i find (yes even those el and elds:grin:)

edit: forgot about 1 ko and 1 hel:P
 
I also almost always pick up any rune found. I keep El - Amn on a non-used trapsin and Sol - rest on my MF-er, but I already mixed up all the runes traded or found. I directly used the one HR i got from a friend in the beginning to make a Dream shield. That is one of the few mistakes I've made already, using a Jah rune out of enthusiasm...

thanks for providing this thread with such a great link. should help lots of players who join us in this thread with a quest or whatever the reason is;)

edit: i just tested how that runeword matcher (is that what you call it?:P) works, and it truly is an amazing tool when trying to figure out what you can make with the runes you have:laugh:
 
not sure if i read what i read correctly, but saw somewhere that only hell cows can drop a zod. Anyone have anymore info on this?
 
The actual answer is: the Zod rune is just one big fairytale/joke. Just like Cinderella or that the Pope takes a dump in the woods. The Zod rune cannot be dropped by any monster

well. not many have joined yet. im still going through with this, and im planing to keep you all updated with how im doing. i have not run anymore because i found Insane Weyns INSANE quest. doing d2 naked all the way to hell. simply amazing. i worship the ground you walk on. truly amazing. i was awed after reading it all. well im going to run some more. will post what i find:D
 
thats not really what i was after jwmoore, but thanks for the link. i can expect some ums and puls the next days then>.<

want to join in on this little quest/project?

Oooooo... sounds like fun. Mabye i should give it a try. I might go insane, but hell, im already half insane!

The information on that page is very wrong. Alot of the odds may still be the same but statements such as "both NM and Hell (forge) can drop up to Um" are very wrong. Nm forge drops up to UM, hell forge drops up to gul. In addition it says countess drops up to vex, which is also untrue. Her normal rune drop goes up to ist and her special rune drop goes up to Lo. I'm not even going to browse through the rest of the information there.



 
well. maybe should have used some other name. anyways its almsot as farming equip or mfing. whatever you like to call it. i thought this could be an interesting thing to do. we can see whos lucky, and who does the most runs etc. just post your goals and runs and runes so far if you feel like.

i also wanted to do this so people can understand exactly how difficult it is to get high runes and not to mention the high runewords.
