Ender's Mafia Game

Jason's "I would still like a proper answer for your rather scummy behaviour on D2":
I thought Fred had a feasible claim since I have no knowledge of the book. Drixx pointed out the inconsistencies of the claim, so I turned around. I think knowing the lore of the game one is playing is a huge advantage from all sides and alignments. Take Goryani, for example. I pointed out that the Ender's Wiki had this Bonzo guy practically as Ender's nemesis, yet it took two phases for the town to wake up.

Jason's "They're worried about a certain role, apparently an adult who makes Ender's life hard."
The only adult claim by a living player is Thyiad's, whose claim was a Mazer Rackham. According to the wiki, this guy was a general from Earth who was sent back in time to train Ender for some invasion (link). I'm not saying that Thyroid is not the player they were referring to, but considering your previous snippet, I have a more suspicious target.

Vote: Glibbucket

Jason, do you remember your post #496? You wrote that someone apologized for not being around to sway the lynch train. In retrospective, it would make no sense for Pyro (a confirmed townie) to apologize for not saving scum, so the only other option is that it was Glib talking to his mates. If you add that he's in the same timezone as Goryani, and that he's the only person left to claim, it makes sense he's the one your last snippet is about.

I wonder why Laarz was targeted and not someone more obvious such as Jason. I presume it's because they thought he was going to be protected (again?). With Goryani out of the way, I think I'll put my vote back into zemaj.

Vote: zemaj?

Oh good grief, that's a mess of votes. :(

Really happy that Jason is still alive. That info you got is interesting. Sounds like someone is trying to dig themselves out of a non-full-claiming hole.

Flub. If you think my reasoning and votes were lame then not a lot I can say really.

Val. Interesting points you make about flubbywubby. Certainly worth keeping that in mind during today. Particularly the bits about not managing to vote and the time zone thing. I might even stop voting for you at every opportunity. :p

Phil. You had to pick a third person to vote for? In the morning I will go back and refresh my memory as to why you voted for him in the first place.

Bit a short post but two cats to the vets in the morning. Again. I should get frequent-flier points. :(

The scum are discussing something about a post #20 (definitely not the #20 post in this thread, which is Zokar waving), and several options outlined in the mysterious post #20 for what I presume is a role claim, rejecting option E but plumping for option. They are worried about how they are going to pass a certain role off as town (must be considering a real name, fake role claim), given that the role is apparently an adult who makes Ender's life hard.

(*psss* possibly waiting later in day to see who does what is said...)
Nice work. Are you sure pyro isn't still apart of the messages you are getting? What I'm asking: are you sure you don't always get mafia convos?

<- is also very glad to have just 1 cat.

Of course I think it's lame. It's why I quoted and voted.

Your attempt to look town by voting your team mate (after he's locked) will only be relevant to those who simply look at the history and check for who voted whom.

What could this possibly be based on?? Where is my conversation string?? I breadcrumbed and it was obvious to those in the know. Has anyone refuted my soft-claim?? I have always hated the big role-claim and you know this.

Your vote is dubious and without logic.

With Goryani's play in this game how would he fit into a mafia group Gwaihir? And now the lurkers can coast some more, wish you hadn't locked him just yet Gwaihir

I was moving this last weekend. I didn't have much time but wanted to check the thread. Once I saw we only had 24 hours, I decided with the history in this game of not getting lynches I would vote to make sure we this one worked, as it would be the only time I got to check in.

Oops. I meant to say 48 hours.

If people would like the day to be 48 hours, then I'm okay with that.

This makes me regret my choice of locking him, but it unfortunately came after I had already voted.

Will you stop vouching for my death now that it is confirmed that the mafia are all in America, and probably all in the same time zone as Goryani (GMT -6)? For reference, here's the updated table:

From all these, I find Zemaj to have the less reasonable claim. Like some said before, it was quite convenient how Zemaj didn't bring up immediately that he was also a bomb.

I disagree with the first part, I don't think that it is confirmed at all. We got a small snippet - could be misdirection from mafia, could be a generalization or a mistake by a player. I think we should keep it in mind, but not let it drive our lynches. I do agree with the second part - zemaj needs to go.

(*psss* possibly waiting later in day to see who does what is said...)
Nice work. Are you sure pyro isn't still apart of the messages you are getting? What I'm asking: are you sure you don't always get mafia convos?

...Are you actually suggesting someone is posting in the mason thread when Pyro made it clear that there were only 2?

What could this possibly be based on?? Where is my conversation string?? I breadcrumbed and it was obvious to those in the know. Has anyone refuted my soft-claim?? I have always hated the big role-claim and you know this.

Why is it you hate role claiming so much? I don't know if I have ever heard an explanation for that.

Anyways, top suspect remains zemaj: bomb claim was sketchy, followed up by an even sketchier threat - saying he would prefer a list of people to lock him (from which gory was noticeably absent). That plus his earlier defense of gory, a known mafia member, makes me bet he is mafia as well.

Vote: zemaj

I am completely willing to unvote/revote so that I am the one to lock him if needed.

....

1) It is too easy to lie and it leads to many red herring IMHO

2) I think it is not being true to the game

3) Gives mafia easy targets (goes in hand with #2)

4) It's boring....Day one nothing happens, day two mass role claim, day three incessant yawning

It seems like at least one of my three are always at the vet. :( This morning it was the one with a skin issue and the old cat. I considered pet insurance but on old cats it's just impossiblely expensive.

No, it's relevant that to anyone who wants to see who the 'can't be bothered to vote' people are. If the vote tallies are right, you've voted ONCE this game. So you can't be bothered. Fine. Bit rich to whine at those who do. Yes it took me bloody hours to get a post together and it was a moot point by the time I did. It's called Real Life. Unfortunately it interferes with mafia and I can't guarantee to sit here every minute of every day but I at least do actually try to contribute.

Your claim is so soft and vague, I didn't even notice what it was. It looks like you're just making random attacks on people to cause confusion, what are you then, the village idiot?

I'm not convinced by zemaj. I don't like the bomb claim because it doesn't sound like a town role. Nor am I happy with so much early voting. But as always, I want to see a lynch so, I'll see how it goes. It'll be interesting to see what he says for himself.

And while I was typing, zemaj posted.

Um. I really don't know what to think about that.

Zemaj are you saying that if we lynch you and a mafia locks you then the town wins? If so, that sounds great but far too good to be true.

I'd rather go for better mafia target, but I'm game for that if everyone wants.

The reason I'm voting zemaj is because he's acted scummy throughout the game, look at that massive wall of text from yesterday (or maybe the day before) that points out a good load of issues with his play. Other people have contributed a good amount of reasoning to vote against you as well.

There is no train. I voted you the day before yesterday and I would have voted you again yesterday if everyone wasn't set on Goryani. I believed Goryani to be relatively harmless at that point and wanted to get rid of a possible mafia role with an active power left, i.e. you. I'm voting you again because your play has been scummy all game.

I will gladly be your locking vote if no one else takes up the offer, I don't believe your claim whatsoever. I'll risk sacrificing myself to try and get rid of obvious scum. I was right about Goryani and I don't think I'll be wrong about you either.

Is this another 24-hour day?

These kids are crazy. They killed the commander of rat army!

I doubt that several kids could get away with this undetected. One of them would screw up.

So a single student just out of the blue murdered someone in their sleep?

Unless you think one of the teachers did it.

That's a crude thought.

Cruder than the fact that we've been training children for war, and some of them desire blood? You can't be camped up here and forced to battle so young without being a little crazy.

Laarz has died

There are 10 players alive, 5 to lynch, 6 to lock
Day hast started and will last 48 hours. My bad for last time.

....

I will gladly be your locking vote if no one else takes up the offer,...

I will gladly be the locking vote since I have a VT role.

1) It is too easy to lie and it leads to many red herring IMHO

2) I think it is not being true to the game

3) Gives mafia easy targets (goes in hand with #2)

4) It's boring....Day one nothing happens, day two mass role claim, day three incessant yawning

1) in some games, sure. But sometimes there are coroners or role cops to disprove names. Or even/trackers and watchers to disprove actions. I would say this game is the exception having none of them.
2) That is an understandable opinion. No argument
3) I definitely can. But if there are already a plethora of claimed power roles out, and mafia has their pick anyways, it helps get town info instead of them taking it to the grave.
4) Usually we wait past day 2, but I think the game slows down more because of fewer people, not because of claiming.

1) everyone get together & decide who you want to lock me (I like Phil & Val for scum at this moment)
2) select a core block to base a vote on me to lynch -1 (lock -1 runs risk of someone swooping in & locking without reading up)
3) give player from #1 a set deadline to put the lynching vote on me (I think day end -10 hours sounds reasonable).
4) if that player stauchly refuses or conveniently doesn't log in by deadline, everyone switch over to the scum.

granted this has a high chance of backfiring, but I am open to other suggestions.

Vote: zemaj

I greatly dislike self-votes. the only time I see them being useful for a player is as a VI. Otherwise it seems like a move to get pity and a pass on the lynch. As for the plan, I don't like part 4 - that is just inviting a mislynch. Again. If the required person doesn't lock you, they should just have to go the next day, independent of your flip.

You are far and away the top of my list atm. I will go review people to get a good second.

Zemaj are you saying that if we lynch you and a mafia locks you then the town wins? If so, that sounds great but far too good to be true.

I'd rather go for better mafia target, but I'm game for that if everyone wants.

Zemaj is saying he is a bomb that will kill the person who locks him. Also, isn't it normally a lynch vote or last vote? While I doubt his claim, if he is townie we can use the ability as a second lynch. If he is mafia, it doesn't mean anything as any mafia would be willing to lock him (unless he is a mafia bomb? If so, evil.)

So then, who do you think is a better mafia target that we should go for?

We certainly seem to have a lot of vanilla townies...

There have been, but pharphis did say this would be a more vanilla game if I remember correctly.

Vote for me. get me lynched, then you'll know for sure.

...and another person who is asking to get lynched! What is going on?

I'm surprised Jason is still alive. I assume the Mafia thought he would be certainly protected if there is a remaining doctor. I don't get why they targeted Laarz, though.

I think they tried to kill Jason anyway and some switch/backfire happened and it got Laarz. I don't think Laarz was the choice of kill.

Anyway, Jason, any new snippets? Will you stop vouching for my death now that it is confirmed that the mafia are all in America, and probably all in the same time zone as Goryani (GMT -6)? For reference, here's the updated table:

and all three of you voted for Zemaj. I'm willing to bet that out of the three of you, one of you is mafia. I'm leaning between Gwaihir and Philly.

I really wish the review posts was not broken, I can't take the time to go back through all this and pick out individual people again.

Of people alive:

1. Thyiad - lurky
8. Gwaihir - town
10. Phillinnicus - active, seems townie to me.
11. flubbucket - circumstantial evidence from Jason pointing to guilt, but no noticeable difference in play
13. Leopold Stotch - lurky
14. Zemaj - likely mafia, possible bomb
15. Jason Maher - town
17. Valhauros - Seems like town. Val's play as mafia when questioned reminds me of more aloof, this game has been more investigative.
18. Noodle - lurky, only comment I remember was he thought flubb was scum, which he later took back.
22. Coju - lurky

I disagree with both of zemaj's choices for locking - both of his targets are actually participating and seem townie to me. Also I think he is mafia, so I see no reason to go with who he wants. I think one of the lurkers is a much better option, any of the four work for me, although if I had to go with a top option I would say my preference is Noodle.

I think they tried to kill Jason anyway and some switch/backfire happened and it got Laarz. I don't think Laarz was the choice of kill.

I thought he was relatively harmless after he used his one-shot, since I didn't think he would get more than one since that seemed overpowered. When he said he had one each day I was convinced.
