I'd like to be super clear. I've never suggested that we should not lynch Moar today
I do think we should be very wary of taking Jason Maher's implied role claim at face value. A full claim from him gives the town much more information to go by. The longer he refuses to give that full claim, the more I wonder why he's refusing. I will concede that there may be some mechanic or reason I am unaware of that makes him want to avoid doing so, but he should, at the very least, be able and willing to provide us with a good argument for why he won't fully role claim.
If he's indeed a townie, he has no reason to hold out on us. Either way, we need to vote for Moar, which I've done.
@flubbucket - Don't put words in my mouth. I have never tried to turn the wagon away from Moar. I'm pointing out that we should not just blindly trust Jason's sort-of role claim.
@Gwaihir - Did you intentionally ignore my post where I explained why I put a vote on Jason to see how he would respond? His response was to read the thread but refuse to post or answer my posts. The vote served its purpose, and anyone who actually read my posts would know that I wasn't suggesting we lynch Jason today instead of Moar.
Be careful of putting words into people's mouths folks. At least three people have now tried to insinuate that I tried to move the lynchwagon off from moar and onto Jason, which is patently false. What I have done, and will continue to do, is point out that Jason has given a very vague pseudo-claim of a power role and refuses to give any more information. If he's a town investigator role as he has implied, he's already outed himself to the game, so there is no reason to hold back now, and yet he is. This really strikes nobody else as odd?
If Jason simply doesn't post the rest of today and we lynch Moar and Moar flips scum and Jason lives through the night, how will you all feel about Jason? Will you believe he's a town power role as he has implied? Will you trust him? What if he survives 2 more nights? 3?
It's the lack of detail in his claim that bothers me. A mafia trying to pull a con is going to go very light on the details because the details are what will get them caught. A character name that someone else has, for example. A character name that is associated with a bad guy in the book, for another example. A specific role that someone else has, for yet another example.
Jason could clear up all my doubts by showing up and saying something like "I'm Petra Arkanian and I'm the town [role]. On night 1, I got X result about Y person. On night 2, I got X result about Z person". At this point revealing his role and name doesn't harm him or the town as far as I can tell. By all means someone feel free to give a rational reason why withholding that information is a townie play, but I've tried to think through the various angles and I haven't come up with any likely scenarios for it.
I think that whether Jason is really a town power role or a mafia trying to con us, Moar will flip scum. With what little Jason has been willing to say, I'm not sure moar flipping scum really tells us a lot, but a scum death is always a good thing for the town, so our obvious play is to lynch Moar.
I'm trying to get you guys to think beyond today's lynch and see if we can use today for more than just today's business. Jason's pseudo-claim basically decided our lynch very early in the day. It seems silly to waste the rest of said day debating today's course of action.
