Earth Shifter for WD

I've not heard anyone talk about this for Wind Druids. I figure that the +7 elemental skills, should rock. You can easily get +10 elemental skills to go with +4 to +5 all skills on other gear. Thats lv 35 elemental skills, with no charms. Am I missing something?

Druid Helm +2 all +3 hurricane
Ammy with +3 ele
Armor with +2 all
Ring 1 +1 all
Ring 2 +1 all
Belt +1 all
10 charms

30. can probably go higher but im tired.

(main reason its not used much, high str req..)
 
But 0 points into Dex, and a hel rune or good rare -15% jewel makes it not too bad as far as I can see. You add a lot of damage and life for some blocking.
 
It's probably good in SC if you have a merc or buddy who can tank for you, since you won't be able to block.

Since you can get +4 skills on weapon//shield +blocking +resist + better FCR +mana + life

I dont htink it's a good investment
 
if you dont feel you'll need to block then by all means go for it!

max blocking requires like 200dex with SS on a druid anyway!

tehcnically you could get MORE life on the average druid (ie one that doesnt have the resources to make enigma) because you would have to have say 200dex for blocking and like 150 or so (assuming +str from gear) for SS. thats 275

in the case of hel'ed earth-shifter you just add the straight 202 str and ur done

well consider this: if you go caster ammy, magefists, arachnid mesh, earthshifter and enigma, you wouldnt need a lot of str. plus, if you use wt's for mfing, with a shako, thats +12 more str. i could see this being quite strong for sc pvm.

also really stylish :)
 
it would be good for a fire druid as they don't have to depend on close ranged combat, with fissure and volcano
 
True. But it does bring in the possibility for a decent geddon wolf.

Max geddon and all syenergies but fissure. Screw the time
1 pt in ww, lycan, prereqs for fury, 1 pt in fury.
let the + to skills get the 5 attack fury

Charms are interchangable, 10 ss or 10 ele (personally i would use both. 10ss for prebuf)

You're correct, but +skills isn't everything. If you were talking about HC, then don't even think about using the earth shifter. The first ranged boss pack you came across in hell would kill you easily. But for SC, it is viable... if you want to spend an unholy number of points in str. But then again, no need to do anything with dex, so you can pump the rest to vit and get a lot of life. You might end up dieing a lot, but you could try it out.
 
...Well, not that I know anything about wind druids but :D

It's way too much strength, a lot less DR, which means you will have to use shaft or verdungo or ber ber crown of ages or something.
My druid has something like 26x strength from ss and enigma, with about 103 base, and I wouldn't wear something people couldn't see.
+skill whores will think it looks good, but I mean, would you rather use earthshaker or wizardspike.
+3-4 skills to me is not enough to make up for
Blocking
Damage reduced
Strength
Resistances
Faster Cast rate
+Strength

Not to mention other mods.

Edit: Oh and it would be horribly slow on a geddon build.
Edit2: You could use it to precast hurricane and cyclone though I guess, not worth the trouble of switching it around with call to arms and such though.
 
it looks cool on a pvm fire druid because they dont require fcr to cast cuz they have their fat cooldowns
 
some how i have to agree with fenris. spamming tornados is better than slow tornados which deals more damage. same issue with zon's ias. technically speaking, the faster you are, the more damage you'll deal in a short frame of time. I've not tested the main difference in frames between using a wizspike/HoTo and earthshift so i'm not very sure of the exact difference in damage output. However, not to decredit you, it does sounds viable if you have another good source of fcr(armor and ammy don't give much as far as i know)

If you go for fcr other places, like armor, rings, ammy, helm, you are likely going to be losing 3-4 skill points anyway.
Speed is king.
Damage is queen.
To an extent of course, you need balance.
