Diablo 1

I just reinstalled D2 with Hellfire and the patches. I plan to run 6 characters through the game consecutively. I already have the warrior, rogue, sorceror, and monk down to level 3, and plan to push. There is an amazing but highly mathematical diablo one guide out there called Jarulf's guide to Diablo and Hellfire, and some of the information in the Strategy compendium is still useful.

Even though the graphics were average for the time..it had that aura about it. Very scary, expect when I transferred to B.net like 2 months after the first day it came out. The Butcher in a dark basement, 10(or 9) y/o, 2 A.M. was a very scary moment for me. I swear I had nightmares that night.

That "Ahh, Fresh meat" gave me the creeps more than the Cow's "Moo Moo Moo" my first time in there.

Speaking of that anyone want to play? Maybe start NON-HACKED d1 chars. Would actually be pretty fun; wasn't max 4 players per game? Kinda forget.

At least you can run in D2. That's quite possibly the worst thing about D1 - you have to walk everywhere.

I know, that was a killer. Damn you Blizzard.

All chars can get tele, and in town the walkspeed has been increased in later patches I think (or was is adding the xpack that did that?).

I think it was the expansion, but remember that if you use that then you can't play multiplayer anymore. Which kind of kills it. And anyway, it's a crappy third party expansion, what were they thinking?

no screenshots but d1 was superior to d2 in so many ways, dialogues, music, athmosphere...those were the days...

Yeah. Although the gameplay was not as good.

id be willing to play some unhacked.
although i do know an extremely easy way to dupe items (link removed)

edit: i just read the top of the page and i think i should take out the link

I have like... 6 copies of the game...
I never played it seriously...
Anybody want to play D1 with me over battle.net??!?? *does a crappy/cheesy/annoying double thumbs up pose*

See, I started D2 just recently, but I played Diablo 1 right off the bat. C'mon.... as you're picking something up, just grab a potion off the belt? At least that dupe didn't lag the servers. Also... who remember's the Gnarled Root? King's sword of haste? Rules.

Yeah, one sec, why was hellfire so bad?

The three new classes were all interesting if not as specialized as the three original. The new spells weren't anything shocking and brilliant (mostly variations on existing spells), but some of them were useful. The new items and oils were pretty sweet, and the runes are good for low level characters (that is how my mage kills the butcher - a chain of fire runes...)

The new dungeons and monsters were neat, but the plot didn't follow up. However they still had appropriately dark and creepy feelings.

Blasphemy! actually I did kind of like it..I played it for about a month and got like 32 with the monk or w/e and had almost a max apoc. I Pwned that noob Na-Krull he was like

"Hi! I'm free, free to confront the little man who banished me, Diablo.
Hi, Everybody, and I'm free to reward you, little mortal,
with these Aerosmith tickets.
You'll be getting backstage passes,
you'll get to meet Steven Tyler and the whole band.
This Friday at the Coliseum.
Thanks for getting me out of there.
By the way, I'm gonna have to kill you. (pause)
I'll be right back with the traffic and weather together."

I showed him.

Ah, Diablo I. Excellent game. The atmosphere was the best I've ever experienced in a game, only bested by Lands of Lore 1.

Diablo II surely went a bit wrong with it's area's; come on, I want to walk through dark, atmospheric places with skeletons and demons, not birds and hedgehogs in forests and graslands.

I think I still have my lvl 35 Rogue saved on my computer. If anyone wants to play sometime, give me a call, will ya?

I thought you couldn't go multiplayer in Hellfire or something.
