Decoy Vs Valky

Hello, ive got a question on whether or not to put points into decoy or valk

my zon is a mavina with strafe/freezing arrow max, and with the extra points, i thought i might need a good meatshield to go along with my hf merc

a lvl 20 decoy with a lvl 1 valk will give the valk 2000-2400 hp and decoy will cost 4.7 mana with 105 sec duration

while a lvl 1 decoy and a lvl 20 valk will give 2000-2400 hp as well, but will cost 44 mana per use

Pros of max decoy
little mana
lasts awhile
gives the same life as a max valk
can control

Cons
due to my build being a mav zon with no shield, she can get pummeled easily

More points into Valkyrie will give her better weapons. Once the Valkyrie hits level 17 (+skills count towards this #), she gets a rare war pike. This makes a big difference since she's not just taking abuse, she's giving some too.

But, doesnt her effectiveness as a killing minion decrease as more ppl are in the game? while, its still her life thats keeping her from dying?

If you're just looking for a meat shield to take abuse away from you and party members, then yeah, life is life and you can go the direction that you have already posted.

if you were more inclined to play solo, I'd say that the points in Valk are better.

I don't think mana cost is an advantage of decoy. A maxed valk may have 40+ mana cost but she will LAST a very long time. The only times valks are in danger of dying are when faced with boss packs or if cursed by IM. Also, valks move with you albeit slowly but she catches up eventually unlike decoy which you have to cast every now and then. If you're thinking meatshield then valk is the way to go.

i have another zon, and i maxed valk on her, so i can see the effectiveness of valk

but, it gets kinda boring having same skill, so im going to max decoy and try it with that

k..posting maybe too late here. Anyhow...nothing like seeing a lv 25 Valk tanking Lister in hell, hehe. These babies are tough. Not only do they get the warpike, but also rare elite armour, Diadems, ammys etc etc. These ladies are what a Blood Golem used to be in 1.07. Insane HP recovery...seldom die. I wouldn't go without her, especially in HC

the other thing is the use of decoy not as a meat shield but more as traffic control

a decoy is a copy of you, so most bowazons can't use them as meatshields cuz they can only take one or two hits themselves.

decoys are best used when you need to run away, or as a distraction, or when you want to keep strays from running off. i used valks heavily while i leveled up to keep myself alive and control how many enemies i was fighting.
