Classic Forum Rules -- Please Read Before Posting
[highlight]Welcome to All Things Classic! This is the home of all things Diablo 2 Classic, no LOD expansion, please![/highlight]
This forum is dedicated to the Original Diablo 2 game. There are many of us who still play D2 without the expansion. There are a myriad of reasons for this, but some of them are:
No runewords, which some say tends to ruin the balance of the game.
No Act 5, which some say is really just a repeat of the other acts, with a few new monsters thrown in.
No upgrading weapons, which some say also throws off the game balance.
No charms.
Merc does not follow from act to act, nor can he wear gear.
In effect, we have to play with no Elite Uniques, and no runewords, just the basic game, as Blizzard originally meant it to be played. We have to play with rares (yellows) and magic (blue) items, as well as socketed items.
So, if that kind of game appeals to you, make an introductory post and be welcomed to the Classic Forum. We are sure you'll find a home here!
Once you have made an account, it is useful to make sure you have read and understand the rules of the forum. There are rules of the site at the top of each page, but there are also some rules specific to the Classic forum. Those are listed below. Please review them all and if you have any questions, please ask a moderator for clarification.

Rules and Guidelines for the Classic Forum:
Breaking any of the following may result in a warning or ban.
- No asking or providing links/information for hacks/bots/cheats or any
third party program that may be in violation of Blizzard's TOS/EULA.
Break this one and you will be instantly perma-banned, no questions
asked.
- No asking for files that can be found on the game CDs for any reason.
That's piracy, folks.
- No Flaming or Trolling.
- No Bypassing the Word Filter. More on this in "Other Stuff" below.
- No Advertising. We are not a free advertising service for commercial
websites, eBay auctions, or D2 sites with content that may be considered
similar to ours. Not sure if a link is appropriate? PM a moderator and ask
before posting.
- No Spamming. More on this in "Other Stuff" below.
- No starting threads to ask for free items. Sometimes a member who plays Classic is kind of enough to hold a giveaway. You'll find those occasional threads in this forum. You are welcome to search for one as well and post there to see if the owner still has an item you need. Make sure to read the thread before you do that to make sure the item is still available.
- Starting threads to ask for help with quests, or a rush, is generally OK, as long as you don't spam the entire forum, or different threads, asking for the same help.
- Looking for friends to play with? Look into our Account Listing thread, which is stuck at the top of our forum.
- Have items for trade? Please use our Trading Thread which usually floating around on page one or two. It is also linked in the Build Guide sticky.
- Want to know what your items might be worth? Try our Trade Values Thread, which is also usually floating on page one or two.
Other Stuff:
Reporting Bad Posts: Is someone breaking the rules or acting like a jerk?
Don't take matters into your own hands or you could end up getting
yourself in trouble. Instead, summon a moderator. On the top and right
hand side of every single post is a report button. Pressing that will take
you to a web form screen where you may type out a brief description of the
problem and press submit. A moderator will be along to check things out
as soon as possible.
The Word Filter: Diablo 2 may be rated Mature, but this forum is not.
Thus, we have a filter that replaces naughty words with asterisks (****).
Please refrain from attempting to bypass the word filter by replacing
letters with numbers, symbols, spaces and so forth. We don't like that.
Making a habit of doing so can put your posting privileges at risk. If
some of the words you've posted are filtered out, you will have to accept
it.
Off-Topic (OT) Threads: Topics unrelated to Diablo 2 belong in our
Off-Topic Forum. However, we do allow some OT chit-chat in Classic,
provided it does not get out of hand. The number of OT threads allowed in
Classic is limited to three on a page one at any given time. Regardless,
such threads may still be subject to being moved to the OTF at the
moderator’s discretion. We also have a dedicated OT Thread stickied near
the top of the board. Consider starting an OT topic there. If you
absolutely must start your own off-topic thread, please put "OT" in the
title.
Spamming: So what constitutes spamming anyway? Some examples include:
making a big deal out of your post count; making a crappy post with the
intention of bumping your thread back to the top of the boards; posting
the same thread in multiple forums and numerous other things - but I'm
sure you get the picture.
Double-Posting: Double-posting is defined as making two posts in a row
in the same thread. If you submit a post and suddenly remember something
you want to add, use the Edit button located below your post to add
material. The Edit feature may be used to modify your post for up to an
hour after its creation.
I Got Banned! What's the Deal?: Well, I told you not to break the rules,
right?! First, check the last few threads you posted in. It is very
likely that a moderator made a post that details the reason for the ban
and its duration. If it's a temporary ban, your posting privileges will
resume after the stated time. Do not make a new account to ask why you
were banned. Instead, contact your moderator via email if you have
questions. Making a new account while under a temp-ban will result not only in the banning of the new account, but the temp-ban on your original account will be upgraded to permanent.
Moderators may also email ban notices to users depending on the
circumstances. Check the email inbox that you registered your forum
account with. You might have to fish it out of your junk mail folder if
you use spam filters (and these days, who doesn't?!).
If you're perma-banned? Sorry, we very rarely lift these types of bans.
Your only option here is to appeal to Elly via email.
Asking About Dupes:
While talking about dupes is not technically against the rules, we do frown on this kind of discussion. We are a legit site, that is, we do not support the use of, or the making of dupes. People are, of course, free to play the game however they wish, but it can affect others. The way it affects others is always a grey area, but some specific examples are below. Please refrain from this kind of activity on this forum, lest you be warned or temp banned, at a minimum.
Making an ISO or FT list containing known dupes can earn you a ban on the trade forums at this site. There is no exception to this rule in the Classic Forum. Most of these dupes are pre-1.09, so if you have items on the banned list, do not post them here for trade.
Please do not use dupes in build advice. This is not usually a bannable offense, however, if you decide to answer a post asking how to build a character, please don't suggest using dupes. Many people still play a legit game and do not use, or do not even know where to get them.
The occasional thread discussing the ethics of using dupes is allowed, but moderators reserve the right to lock or delete the thread, or remove posts, that in their mind, do not follow the ethics of gameplay this forum is based upon.
Well, there you have it. Pretty simple, huh? Stick to the rules and you will lead a long and healthy life here. We don't think these are too much to ask and do not place an undo burden on folks. We are glad you stopped by and would like you to stay. That is why we have provided this forum, to allow friends to gather and chat about their favorite game.
